Tori merely looked on as the demon that haunted her dreams for months on end were falling through the air, breaking apart. All the traveling, the hunting and the battling. It all led to this moment and now that it was finally here, she didn't feel any better. She felt empty. Like the hole in her heart only grew larger due to the demon's departure from life. What would she do now? What purpose did she have? She couldn't go back to a normal life after the things she's seen but was she truly ready to accept the power forced upon her by some secret force in the universe? Could she even do it?
"Sorry about that. I had to assume direct control of Mynock after it latched onto the hull. I didn't have time to explain my intentions either. Had I, it probably would have smashed the cockpit and you inside of it. Next time I go strafing some rock monster, I'll be sure to expect that sort of attack. Are you ok? All I got from you was screaming."
“Y-yeah. I'm fine. Just regaining my composure up here. It's dead. We did it. It's dead.”

Aside from the latching on, that thing was about as difficult as any ground target for an X-wing. Never lasts long against a few laser blasts. Hope you weren't expecting an epic battle of epic proportion. Alright, I'm settting a course back to my position. Without much effort, the X-wing rotated and flew through the sky back to the landing site. The shields hummed as they reached full power before become as silent as the rest of the internal systems. Contrails formed on the wingtips as it went swiftly back. It took mere moments before the town was in sight, and the orange-colored flightsuit of Wedge was in view. The landing gear popped open and the cockpit as well, dust swirling around the vessel as it set down gently beside him. Mynock booped softly as the main systems shut down. You ok?

“I see...”
Tori was quiet for the most part as the X-Wing returned to Sunnydale, California. At the very least no one would have seen the actual confrontation between her and the demon and anyone looking up would have passed off the pieces of the demon as, oh she didn't know. A shooting star? Asteroid? She wasn't adept in that kind of thing. The ship soon landed and the cockpit came open as Tori's eyes now looked over to Wedge who looked to be concern towards her.
"You ok?"
“I'm fine.”
The young Vampire Slayer climbed out of the cockpit and gently touched down onto the ground by the pilot.
“It's just... I've been hunting that thing down for so long. I thought when I finally found it, when I finally took it out that I would feel something more than this. But I just feel empty inside and now I don't have the foggiest idea of what to do. I can't go back home, I can't return to a normal life after everything I've seen. I just... I feel so lost.”

Wedge quietly listened to her words. This was not an uncommon fate to someone with a goal, a vendetta. He remembered his own feeling on the matter, when his parents were lost on the Gus Treta station over Corellia. The desire for revenge, the emptiness thereafter. His jaw tightened as he recalled those horrific details, hearing his parents last communications as they drifted towards the system's sun and exploding thereafter, strafing the pirates who had caused their deaths with no mercy. It tears a person apart to go through those feelings. I know that feeling too well. I lost my parents to pirates who tried to destroy my home as a cover for their escaped. I destroyed them in my desire for revenge. I felt so empty after that, and even now I still try to avoid thinking about such a time. However, you can't let the emptiness take hold. You have to move on with your life, find something to do with the skills you have. Apply yourself where you know you'll succeed.

“I'm sorry.”
Said Tori offering her sympathy. Though it never made any sense to her to apologize for something one had no control over it was built into her. It was built into everybody. What else could you say?
“That's the thing. I know where I'd be successful at but... I'm afraid of where it may lead me.”
Slaying was a dirty job, that much was for certain. And not every Slayer got to have a ship to help them battle a demon. And the one thing all Slayers had in common were death.
“People in my line of work go on to live very short lives.”

Wedge nodded slowly, grimly, understanding where she came from. He was fortunate to buy that cargo ship from the fortune the bounty on the pirates, and his family's estate, had. His piloting skill is what got him a successfull career in his cargo shipping days, it got him accepted into the Rebel Alliance, it was what let him survive Yavin, Hoth, Endor, Bakura, and it was why he is so vital to the New Republic cause. She did not have that luxury. Where Wedge could use his skills in a non-violent manner, or even a safer manner than being a commander of a squadron, her skills brought her back on the front line of combat. It was an ugly thing to be stuck with. However, many have overcome that issue, and have survived many a battle. What was it that stopped Tori? Do you fear your own death, Tori?

"Do you fear your own death, Tori?"
“S-shouldn't I?”
It was in everyone's basic instinct to survive, to live. Even when they didn't know or understand the point of it all. Death was unknown. Either they'd cease to exist or there was a chance they'd be worse off than they ever were alive. It wasn't something Tori wanted to discover first hand.
“I'm only sixteen. I've barely experienced life and now some stupid destiny is dictating I fight the forces of darkness? That some unknown force has given me all of these powers I can't ignore. It's not fair dammit!”

I personally don't think you should. Granted, at my age and with my profession, I've become accustomed to death in my life, and can face it without fear. But death is unavoidable. No one likes to admit to that, but it is. Everyone will die in the end. Nothing lasts forever. You have to learn to accept that. Wedge was no philosopher, but he knew death was a merciless thing. 16 year olds should not have to deal with it. Not like he had to deal with. And you can't change what happened. However, your destiny isn't written in stone. You can change it. I know of one person, Anakin Skywalker. He was the pinnacle of evil, known then as Darth Vader. He turned it all around by killing the Emperor and saving my friend and his son, Luke.

Wedge looked up into the sky , pausing briefly to collect his thoughts. He died shortly afterwards. Luke explained to me how the Emperor, an evil man with many evil powers and schemes, could generate lightning from his fingertips. He was electrocuting Luke to death when Vader stepped in, lifted him into the air, and threw him down a huge shaft into a power core. The lightning shorted out Darth Vader's life support, and it resulted in his death. In doing so, he balanced the Force and ultimately defeated the fully ammassed Imperial fleet that was close to beating us before that moment. If not for him, I might not be here right now.

“He changed his destiny only to die anyway?”
While the Young Vampire Slayer admired the man for his sacrifice, Tori knew deep down inside she was nowhere near as noble. Of course that was never something she was willing to admit out loud and to a stranger no less.
“Thanks. I-I just need time to think. We should be getting out of here anyway.”

Wedge nodded quickly. He thought he heard the sounds of sirens, and it made him curl his lip in dismay. I was told to head to Isafaro to join the Rebellion that's forming there. If you want to tag along, by all means. I'm going to find out how I can help the people out. He quickly climbed up the side of the X-wing and extended his hand to Tori. Sorry I have to do this to you, but sit on my lap for a brief moment and I'll get us safely away from the law enforcement. Unless you'd rather stay, of course.

“I can handle law enforcement. Whether I like it or not there's something calling me here and I don't think leaving would be the best idea on my part. Good luck with Isafaro and thank you for your help. I hope we meet again.”

Wedge paused and looked down at Tori, part of him really unwilling to leave her behind to possibly be tried and executed for the damage they, mainly Wedge, had done to the surrounding area. It was not his way to abandon those he helped, and part of him wanted to totally disregard what she said, stun her with his blaster, and get her out of the way of danger. She'd probably hate him for it, and maybe even regard him as hostile, but he saw it to be better for her in the long run. However, something about her tone told him she would probably last longer than he would. Wedge sighed and, despite Mynock's immediate howls of disapproval, closed the cockpit. The fighter took off and hovered, rotating to angle itself toward Isafaro. The engines gradually got louder as it hovered, engines regaining the speed it had with Tori inside.
Wedge looked out the side of his cockpit, helmet donned, wondering if she would beckon for him to land again.

Wedge would instead see Tori waving them off before she looked over to the incoming police. In that instance Tori would appear as nothing more than a blur of camouflage and blue from her jacket and jeans as she rushed out of there before the cops could even reach her and was soon out of sight by the time they started searching the area for the people behind all this destruction.
They would find neither.
