[The Wolf Girl]

No matter where I roam

The moon hung low like a portrait in the velvet sky, stars twinkling around her in a silent, glittering dance. Beneath her soft light, a shadow slipped across the dunes. The form of a wolf, golden eyes shimmering in the darkness, was hidden against the darkness of the sand. She slunk into the shadows and vanished.

It was clear that she was on the hunt.

Somewhere far away, an eerie cry of a wild wolf rose up and wavered over the sand. The golden-eyed wolf appeared at the top of a dune and pointed her nose to the sky, howling back to her wild cousin. However, it was not a friendly call. It was a warning. This part of the desert was her territory, and she was making that clear. As her howl died off, the wolf lowered her head and listened. No challenging howl was returned and she sunk back into the shadows. The shuffling sound of a mule deer reached her ears. Dropping into a crouch, the she-wolf slowly stalked the deer over the sands, golden eyes glimmering and fangs bared in a huntress's smile. The deer paused and looked up, and she froze, dropping lower so the shadows would cover her. After a moment, the deer returned to it's grazing as it walked. The wolf crept along behind it, waiting for the right moment to spring.

Suddenly, a grey form streaked by and startled the deer. The wolf snarled and leapt up after it, only to nearly collide with another wolf, this one a male.

Outraged, the she-wolf lunged for him, snapping her fangs at his neck and snarling. The male wolf defended, but did not attack back, an the she-wolf paused. So this wolf had not known nor heard her warning cry. She would let him go. Flashing her teeth, she half-lunged at him, stiff-legged and tail bristling. The male heeded her warning and turned from her, racing away into the night.

In the next moment, the she-wolf had transformed into a human form, wolf ears and a tail the only sign of what she was.

She gazed up at the moon in the night sky and sighed. "Another night going hungry." she muttered to herself with a frown. Her hunts had been unsuccessful on her own, and now she had to deal with other, wild wolves?

What was she going to do?

Sands, sands, sands. That was all that Ansem could see in this forsaken place, he grimaced as he walked through the desert looking for a place to take over, a place where darkness can rule and possess the innocent inhabitants. It had been a while since he had met a Keyblade user, or even one of the Organisation XIII members; he wondered how they are at the moment. He smiled as he fondly remembered fights with them, and he hoped that none of them had been killed in his absence, that would be a tragedy indeed!

He looked up to the sky and saw a full moon before the cries of wolves brought him to his attention, so there were wolves even in the desert? Now that was a new one, he continued to walk through the desert before being confronted by a pack of wolves, ”Now, now…what do we have here?” Ansem asked as the wolves growled at him, ”no need to be violent,” he said as a wolf lunged at him forcing Ansem to dodge the wolf, ”well if you insist,” he said as he snapped his fingers.

Immediately shadows began to disperse and attack the wolves, one grabbed a lunging wolf as it struggled to get away from it. But it proved useless as it was dragged into the darkness before giving a whine and then, with a bone crunching snap, it went silent; similar events occurred to the pack as their ferocity and pack mentality proved to be useless against Ansem's shadow. Within a minute all the wolves had been swallowed by the darkness, "Such a pity that it had to happened," Ansem sighed before walking off.

But then he heard another growl as Ansem sighed turning to face what he thought were more wolves. But to his surprise he saw that it wasn't just ordinary wolves, the wolves were climbing out of the shadows, they had black ethereal body like black flames while their eyes were jade green, their teeth just as sharp as it was when it was alive. The mark of the Heartless branded to their side as Ansem's eyes widened, he knew that Heartless were born from the darkness in human hearts, but did that also extend to other organic beings?

Ansem smiled at this new development as the Shadow Wolves snapped and growled, "Heel!" he commanded as the wolves went silent and sat on their haunches, "excellent...now hunt! Sniff out any humans and devour their hearts," as the wolves seemed to howl in delight before going off and tracking their prey. Ansem laughed as he followed them, the full moon disappearing, as though hiding from the terrors of the Seeker of Darkness.

The girl with wolf ears turned at the distant sounds of a struggle, her midnight hair flowing across her shoulders like dark water. She tilted her head and pricked her ears. "What is that?" she wondered out loud.

Suddenly, the moon vanished and darkness blanketed the sands.

Instinctively, Rina shifted back into her wolf form, her unnatural size making her paws sink a ways into the black sand. She shook her ruff and put her nose to the air. As far as she could tell, there was nothing out there. She couldn't smell a thing except sand. Lowering her head, she stood still and listened. The sounds of low growling reached her ears, and her fur stood on end. That was no normal growling. It was different. Darker. Rina crouched down, trying to blend into the black sand beneath her even blacker fur, but it apparently did nothing, for suddenly, what appeared to be wolves were upon her, but they were not normal wolves. With a yelp that was part a howl, she twisted, rolling out from under them and taking off across the sand. As she ran, she glanced over her shoulder to see the form of a human. "What in the world?" she thought, confused.

She couldn't run forever.

The sand slowed her down. It killed her stamina. She couldn't just outrun these wolves made of darkness. Skidding to a stop, she whirled, her fangs slashing a wolf instantly. It was odd, she couldn't smell them. The wolf burst into a mass of darkness and disappeared. Rina didn't stop there. She lunged at the next one, but by now they were learning. The wolf dodged her attack and turned, sinking its teeth into her shoulder.

Was it aiming for her heart?

Shaking the dark wolf off of her, Rina fended off the lunge of another wolf. When her teeth met its throat, it vanished like the first one had. Snarling, she went for the wolf that had injured her again, but this time when it attacked, its fangs found their mark.

Pain rocketed through her body, ripping a pained howl from her throat. The wolves backed away as darkness began to gather around her, covering her. They waited expectantly, but when the darkness cleared, a human-looking girl with wolf ears and a tail lay on the sand. They looked at each other curiously, wondering what had happened. Why hadn't she become a heartless? And why was she now a human?

It wasn’t long before his new creation sniffed out the scent of a heart, Ansem smiled as he would be obtaining a new Heartless in just a few moments, no normal human can easily destroy the Heartless, and only a Keyblade wielder or someone with powerful magic can hope to fend off Ansem’s own attack. He listened as the sound of the wolves fighting someone commenced, a few had fallen in her attack, no matter he could always create more; before finally a pained howl echoed throughout the night. Ansem smiled as he levitated above the ground and approached the fallen person, hopeful that tonight would bring forth another Heartless, as he was much disappointed when he could see that the person had not turned into a Heartless.

Instead a girl with wolf ears and a tail lay before him, why hadn’t she turned into a Heartless? Surely the darkness would have consumed her and whatever darkness, however little, would have turned her into one of his creations. This was very confusing indeed, ”Why didn’t it work? It should have turned her,” Ansem said to himself as he observed the girl and lifted her head to get a good look at her.

While she was out, Rina's wolf demon appeared to her in her mind. Its red eyes glowed as it watched her. She wondered what it was trying to tell her this time?

The golden thread it always held in its mouth had grown dim and her eyes widened. What was this? The connection between her and her demon side had weakened! "How?" she asked the wolf, but it merely blinked at her before vanishing in a swirl of mist.

In the next moment, she was awake and realized that someone was too close for her comfort, their hands holding her head up. She jerked away, rolling and attempting to shift. Black fur rippled over her skin and her eyes bled crimson. She snarled as her bones began to crackle with the change. However, she was too weak to complete the transformation from human form to demon and collapsed on the sand, her golden eyes piercing as she stared at this newcomer warily with bared fangs.

The shadow wolves growled and yipped among each other and one of Rina's wolf ears turned toward their noise, but her eyes remained on what she considered a threat.

OOC- S'all good^^ So Rina can't become a heartless. Why? Well she has two hearts so to speak. Plus, she a demon. So there we go

The girl jerked awake and then rolled away from him before she seemed to be trying to transform, as black fur covered her and her eyes turned red. However it seemed that she was too weak to fully transform herself as she collapsed onto the sand, her eyes turning golden again as it stared at Ansem, ”My, my, I suppose that’s why you didn’t turn into a Heartless,” Ansem said, ”you’re not exactly human are you?” he said. It was interesting to see that although the wolves did turn into Heartless, this girl did not, why was that so? Perhaps further research and experiments were needed in order to further understand the powers of darkness.

But right now he had to deal with the girl, it was clear that she was no threat to him with her current state of mind, however he always did like to toy with other people. This would be no different as he snapped his fingers and a fist made of darkness shot out of the sand and attempted to connect with the girl’s jaw, perhaps further weakening was required before trying to make her into a Heartless.

The wolf girl watched as the male considered her. Who was this guy? And what were those things with him? Suddenly, he attacked with shadows and Rina ducked low, using her inert reflexes to barely miss getting punched.

In a flash, she was up and sending a roundhouse at him, lightning crackling up her leg. "Just because I can't shift does not mean I can't fight back!" she snarled, her demon side's growls behind her words. She could feel their connection resetting. It glowed brighter with each passing moment.

For now, her wolf side helped her to fight in her human form.

Ah…so the girl could still fight even in this form of hers, that was good, it would be have been too boring if he was able to kill her so easily, as Ansem blocked the kick with his shadows though electricity crackled through them making him wince in pain, ”Electricity? So you use magic?” he asked as the wolves growled and snapped. He held them back with a simple gesture as they made a circle around him and the girl, she wouldn’t be able to run away from this fight now. He then summoned several energy disks of darkness before pointing at the girl as they flew towards her, homing in as one, he also briefly wondered what kind of Heartless would be created from a shapshifter? It would be interesting to see what would result from such a thing, as he smirked at the thought of that.

The wolves surrounded them and she inwardly cursed. It'd be really nice if she could shift into her demon form now!

Just as these thoughts crossed her mind, the connection to her demon side flared. Since it had been severed, now that it was reconnected, it forced her transformation. Now the change was painful when turning into her true form on its own, so this was worse. She fell to her knees, her opponents attack probably going right over her head, and a long, drawn out howl ripped from her throat as she transformed into her demon form.

At first, she seemed to be changing into a normal wolf form, but then her tail lengthened and became whip-like as her size increased, orange-red runes etching themselves over her fur, down her muzzle and legs. Her ears became pointed, more horn-like, and her claws glowed the color of coals.

The wolf demon loomed over him, fangs bared, red eyes boring into him. She spoke, her voice deeper and much darker. "Now you see my true form. Your shadows wolves cannot keep a demon." she knew he'd made them surround them to keep her from escaping. She wasn't sure if she could defeat this guy, so she decided that her best option was to flee. The runes on her legs flared to life and fire bloomed around her giant paws. She leaped over the wolves and took off, the fire greatly increasing her speed.

Ansem watched as something seemed to be happening to the girl, she seemed to be shapeshifting, it was truly an interesting thing to watch as she turned into a wolf. But it was different then a normal wolf as she had a longer tail, orange runes covering her body, and generally becoming more ‘demonic’ in terms of her apperance; but that merely made Ansem smile the more he watched her until she completed her transformation. The discs naturally flew over her head at the last second and crashed into the ground, she was lucky in that regard, before the girl then spoke in a dark voice stating that his wolves would not be able to contain him, ”I never doubted that you would eventually be able to defeat the wolves, in fact I would have been disappointed if a mere small Heartless can defeat you, it would naturally mean that the stronger Heartless, or even the Emblem ones, would be able to strike you dead,” Ansem said in a cold voice.

The demon wolf then jumped over one of his wolves before running off, Ansem sighed, ”Hunt her down!” he commanded the Shadow Wolves as they barked in unison before beginning their pursuit of the demon wolf, at the same time Ansem drew on his power of darkness and summoned lightning made of darkness as they slammed onto the sands and zigzagged across the ground, chasing the girl until it hit something, or it hit her. He then levitated higher and began his own personal chase of her, he wanted to see the girl’s full power, he wanted to see what her ‘true form’ was capable of against his shadows.

Sand flew out from beneath her paws, Rina's massive size sending dull shockwaves through the ground. Small reptiles and mammals scattered as sparks from her flaming paws bombarded the sands. She glanced over her shoulder to see the wolves following her and bared her teeth in irritation. Skidding to a stop, she turned and swung one large paw, smacking one of the wolves and tossing it into the others, sending them tumbling down a sand dune.

The wolf demon continued on at an easy lope, her whip-like tail thrashing in the wind.

As she came to the top of a sand dune, she saw that he was still in pursuit of her. Growling to herself, she stood her ground, arching her neck and raising her tail in a challenging manner. Her fangs flashed, crimson eyes daring him to attack. It was clear that his current minions could do nothing against her.

Ansem continued to chase the wolf girl down, amazed that with each pounding of her paw on the sand it sent a shockwave throughout the desert area, that was a clear indicator that she was powerful. Ansem smiled as he hoped that meant she would turn into a powerful Heartless if he was able to claim her heart, but if not then that simply meant he would be rid of a potential threat to his power as the Shadow Wolves were batted off by her power, ”Oh well…it’s not like I expected them to do anything anyways,” Ansem said as the girl finally stopped.

She then barred her fangs and seemed to be challenging Ansem to a fight, he smiled at that, ”Ah…so you want a fight? Very well if that is what you wish, I suppose I must use my guardian then,” he said as his personal guardian burst out of the sand, standing almost like a giant as Ansem floated to his shoulder and stood on it before commanding the guardian to attack the wolf girl as it raised a fist and slammed it on the ground, sending shockwaves towards the demon wolf.

So he indeed would fight.

She did not speak often in her demon form, and so said nothing, merely watched as he summoned something and alighted on its shoulder. The wolf demon howled, lashing her tail, and the clouds swept away from the moon as if her very cry brought it out. As he attacked with something that he'd summoned, she leaped and avoided the shockwave, jaws agape to lock around the shadow creature's neck.

Ansem laughed at the demon wolf, intrigued that it would still try to fight against him despite the overwhelming odds, well he wasn’t going to underestimate it at the same time. People who underestimate their opponents tend to get killed, and Ansem was not one of those people, as the full moon shone down brightly upon the battlefield. The demon wolf then dodged the shockwave as she attempted to bite into the guardian’s neck as it groaned lightly, ”Foolish creature, did you think that would hurt my guardian?” Ansem asked as the shadows that made up the guardian wrapped itself around the demon wolf’s body attempting to crush its body.

She refused to back down or flee. Even if she was part human, a wolf demon did not run from a battle.

Even as the shadows engulfed her, her mind raced with attack plans. She remembered that her lightning had gotten through his shadows, and as she struggled in the creature's grasp, the runes on her body flared to life and lightning shot up her spine, crackling and sparking as it spread over her entire body.
