Demetrios had much the same thing on his mind. Apart from their group, the immediate area seemed empty... "They must be entering the Kari battlefield through some other set of portals in another location," he mused, standing beside Sincara. "They clearly didn't believe they needed security here because they thought no one would be stupid enough to attack them on their own turf." He fixed his focus on the mighty skull Sincara was aiming at. "Alright, let's see what happens here..."

"None of our concern."
“Why are you looking at it then?”
"Something's not right here. Why haven't we encountered any resistance yet?"
"They must be entering the Kari battlefield through some other set of portals in another location. They clearly didn't believe they needed security here because they thought no one would be stupid enough to attack them on their own turf."
“Who cares why they're not here? Let's just take advantage of it before they do decide to show up.”

There was an eery, uncomfortable silence in the cursed air of the Netherrealm that was enough to make even the most stern warrior be on their guard. Even the screams of the damned was soon drowned out by that same very silence as the green burning eyes of the flame from within the massive skull stared down upon them. As if somehow reading their unease towards the silence. The only sign of life coming from the battle happening elsewhere and the skull above. Suddenly cracks grew upon the skull head and spread throughout it until it shattered into pieces, the shards of the skull hurled in their direction followed swiftly by the very flames they aimed to possess as the Netherrealm began to come alive to be their undoing.

"Zora, get down!" Gabrielle grabbed Zora and helped her down to the ground while wrapping herself around the child to protect her from the in-coming shards. Counting on the others to do something about the flames now attacking them.

Gabrielle's faith in people wouldn't go unrewarded as Sincara stepped in front of her and Zora and produced an energy shield to protect them from the flames that headed in their direction. Problem was she were only able to protect Gabrielle and Zora and while doing so couldn't harness the energy that was now being used against them.

With Sincara's hands tied, Demetrios quickly stepped forward. Jabbing his sword into the ground to free both hands, he placed himself between his companions and the oncoming assault. The group would hear quiet, seemingly unintelligible chanting from within his helm as his arms blurred to life with a string of hand signs; and in the brief time they had, a rune of light flashed into being before him and a great volley of energy bolts rushed forth to blast the bone shards out of the air.
That rune was replaced by a much larger sigil which caused a translucent barrier, its surface many dozens of degrees below freezing to the touch, to raise up before them. The roaring flames passed harmlessly over them, redirected by the shield and supercooled until they lost all energy and died away. The moment it was relatively safe, the barrier shrank away to briefly expose Sincara, giving her a line of sight to the seething mass of flame where the skull had just been.
"Take the shot."

Mukuro remained silent for all this time, feeling uncomfortable around these people who even though he helped, he didn't per say trust. He knew that they were good people, seeing as they wish to protect the world. It reminded him of Tsuna, which he hated. Tsuna, his mafia boss, who he hated with a passion, just like he hated the mafia. Deep in his train of though, an explosion went off near bye, causing him to quickly go prone. He looked round, seeing flying skulls, to which he smiled, and opened his owl box. His owl attacked to closest skull to him. His magnificent bird was dealing with some trouble, but for the most part, helped protect the group from behind, seeing as this was the only thing he was good at...

The heat around them began to increase to insufferable levels at the same time the air thinned. Darkness drifted just a few inches above the ground, reaching the Kari party and shooting up threatening to grab Sincara by the throat and squeeze the life out of her while there were very little air to breathe as it.

"Zora, get down!"
“What?”
Zora watched as the skull shattered and sent sharpened shards of its skeleton against the group along with powerful green flames. It would have certainly taken her before she had a chance to even react but Gabrielle once again came to her aid and protected her from the blast as Sincara protected them. The heat getting worse and the air becoming harder to breathe as her eyes then saw darkness sneaking up on Sincara about to pounce. Zora pulled away from Gabrielle's embrace and drew her wand towards the approaching darkness.
“I am not some weakling that needs protection. LUMOS MAXIMA!”
A large, bright ball of light sparked from the tip of her wand casting the darkness away and giving Sincara time to take the shot.

Gabrielle felt the temperature rise to such an extent that now her own body was beginning to break out into an intense sweat. Gasps of breath falling short thanks to the thinning of the air as the already hazardous conditions of the Netherrealm grew the closer they got to fulfilling their goal. Reality itself acting as the first and last defense of the realm. The Traveling Bard watched in amazement as Zora cast away the darkness with her wand but just in case that wasn't enough, she drew her chakram. If there was one thing she knew that could cut through even the darkness itself. It was the super chakram once wielded by Xena.

Sincara was already weakened tremendously by the poison dart shot into her back at Moon Valley and now the increased temperature and small amounts of air made things worse for her as she tried to focus on the task ahead. But even though all of that she endured. Squeezing the trigger and absorbing the power that was hurled at them so relentlessly by the realm itself. Despite this reality's best attempts at stopping her, thanks to the combined efforts of everyone else she was free to take in the destructive force of the Netherrealm and then release it right back into the ground forcing a chain reaction within the energy that flowed through this place.

The ground trembled as small cracks spread out in the floor. Growing larger as fire spewed up from the cracks threatening those on land as it raised up into the sky. Pieces of the floor split apart and floated on lava, splitting up the group as they were divided by the flames between the platforms. Flaming skeletal hands shot up from the lake of fire and reached up for the ankles of the Kari's party as winged beats up above came down on their position with their talons aimed to take off a piece of their flesh as they could all feel a powerful weight hang over them. The presence of the Elder God Shinnok became known as it threatened to crush them as if gravity itself has descended upon their heads.

Gabrielle struggled to keep her balance as the ground cracked and drifted the Kari party away from each other, still keeping Zora close by her side and away from the edge of their part of the ground as the flaming skeletal hands shot up for their ankles. When the winged beasts descended upon them the Traveling Bard responded by throwing her chakram at the demons, the weapon smacking against their faces and knocking them off course before returning to her hands as she turned to call out to the others. "Are you guys all right?" As soon as she asked that question however the aura of the elder god began to feel like a strain on her soul where she stood, her feet wobbling as standing straight up was becoming even more of a hassle than it was earlier when the ground had cracked.

That was it. That was all the energy Sincara had left as her grip on the revolver failed and her eyes closed shut. Her body falling forward and towards the ground as it separated and she was left entirely vulnerable thanks to the poison and the harsh conditions of the Netherrealm as the burning skeletal hand came up from the lake of fire reaching out for her flesh.

“Sincara!”
Zora yelled out in concern for her as she aimed her wand at the skeletal hand and unleashed a jet of water towards the back of it. It was all she could think of off the top of her head to help the woman and when that wasn't enough Zora launched a powerful jet of light against the back of the hand to force it attention to them rather than the unconscious Sincara.
“How does your chakram work against fire?”
