Garrus raised his weapon towards Sincara when she refused to lower her own, giving the child a warning glance without needing to say a word. Hearing the allegations of Chloe made by Sincara, the rebel turian slightly turned his head to look to the Empress while keeping his weapon focused on Sincara. Garrus Vakarian Is this true?

"Yes," Chloe replied, not caring to keep it a secret. "I punished the men and women who openly defied me and drank from the people who gave themselves willingly." The vampiress shifted weight from one foot to the other still using the demon blade to maintain what little balance she could. "What are you going to do about it?" she asked Sincara. "Kill me? Go ahead. You kill me you lose your only chance at disabling the tower's ability of merging the realms. The other mes may not be so cooperative and you know Tajna Rasha will never give you the time of day." She got closer to the child, daring her to try something. "So go ahead. Kill me. I welcome death. Kill me!"

Sincara was tempted, the Six Shooter aimed at her head and packed with enough white magic to blow her head off for good. She knew she was too weak to fight and that the Kasul was unable to absorb anything from the light element but the opposite end of Garrus' barrel didn't go unnoticed and her own grip on the Six Shooter was starting to fade as it shook and her hands sweat. After staring down the cold-hearted Empress for what felt like hours the child stepped back and lowered the Six Shooter in what seemed like defeat, until...
"I rest my case."
Sincara had succeeded in showing the true nature of the Isafaro resistance's main ally.

"Are you two children done bickering?"
Scowling with irritation, Shepard pushed past Sincara and laid his left hand on Chloe's shoulder. A pulse of orange light heralded the activation of his omni-tool, its holographic display flashing to life over his left forearm, and with a moment's button-pressing, the Spectre administered a dose of medi-gel to the young vampire. Already she would feel rejuvenated and more energised as the miraculous compound set to work throughout her body.
"Keep walking," he demanded of Chloe, his voice commanding authority. "We've a job to do."
Nothing else mattered at the moment.

So the truth came out, Chloe was no better than any other leader with a lust for power who treated their own people like play things. No matter how many times you see it it never got any easier. Maybe that was a sign he hasn't grown entirely cold and secluded from the world around him. Worlds in this case. But then Commander Shepard got involved and settled the dispute. The turian nodded and kept his weapon in hand while waiting for the Empress to lead them to the control room. Ready for any more surprises this tower may have waiting for them up above.

Chloe growled for the second time into the day, this time aimed at Shepard as she detested being treated as a child and bossed around. The medi-gel made it easier for Chloe to move without the need of Kasul as a crutch but if they ran into trouble the three were on their own as she was still in no shape to fight. Luckily for them they would make it up the next two floors without incident this time as it felt to Chloe as if they were climbing all the way to the top. They made it to an ancient looking control room where blue runes surrounding the walls and devices up ahead in an unknown language unrecognizable to man's eyes. "We're here." Chloe stated, going up to one of the control panels and placing a hand on the rune. "This may take a while."

Sincara said nothing further and returned the Six Shooter into her holster before following the others. Once they made it to the control room Sincara took a small detour to the left hand side of the room staring at the runes. It was the first time she got an up close look at these. Of course she couldn't understand a single one of them nor was she foolish enough to touch anything, but still it was fascinating to look at.
"While we're on the subject..."
Sincara turned back around to look at Chloe.
"What all can you do now that you know how this tower works? Can you return outsiders like yourself to their world of origin?"

Garrus Vakarian Incredible. It was like looking into ancient ruins of the past while at the same time the technology was more advanced and foreign in nature than even that of Isafaro. He looked over to the runes in fascination along with Sincara and was beginning to see why it would take a lifetime to learn all of this. Tajna Rasha and Chloe was ahead of the herd on that, but the rebel turian had a feeling in his gut that being ahead of the herd wasn't everything it was cracked up to be. Garrus Vakarian How long? He asked Chloe. Garrus Vakarian Zira could come back. I don't know what gotten into her since our last meeting but I'm starting to see why they call her the Firebird.

"An hour. Maybe two. This is more complicated than just changing the layout of the rooms." The second she touched the runes the insides of the tower came to her mind, she was connected to it and through mere thoughts in her mind she could rearrange everything but one wrong move and there was no telling what she'd end up doing because of it. A world could end up destroyed that's why she was irritated when people kept talking to her. Chloe put her hand off of the rune and turned to face Sincara. "Yes. But many of the worlds have been destroyed by the supernova. They have nowhere to go unless you want to take them to Utopia. If so good luck with that. Many would sooner die now if you don't mind, shut up for two hours."

"Good to know."
Sincara turned back to the wall and continued studying the runes, memorizing their shapes as she was going to be standing here for quite some time before the deed is done. Might as well record important imagery while she wait.
"What would you do?"
Sincara whispered over to Garrus as to not disturb the vampiress' concentration.
"If you discover you haven't a world to go back to?"

Garrus Vakarian I'm not worried about that right now. He had bigger things to be worried about like the mission success rate, Imai, the state of Isafaro. The rebel turian has had very little time to think about what has became of his and Shepard universe of origin and what either of them would do if it was discovered to be destroyed but neither one of them could afford to dwell on that now. Especially since they're still in the dark. Garrus Vakarian Any specific reason why you're interested?

The rune Chloe had her hand over suddenly became as red as blood and for reasons that were lost to her the Empress was unable to get any farther in disabling any specific function of the Downward Spiral whether she wanted to or not. Knowing what she knew, both about the tower and what Tajna Rasha did to Maricul to make sure she could no longer summon power from it, she could only come to one conclusion that made sense. "Son of a bitch!" she growled while standing up from her seat. "This isn't the control room."

"Just curious."
Sincara would also notice the change in colors to the runes on the wall and the surrounding runes but thought nothing of it at first until Chloe spat out profanity behind them drawing her attention to the control panel she was sitting down in front of and then a look of irritation drew on Sincara's face at what the Empress said next, still not fully trusting Chloe.
"What do you mean this isn't the control room? What the hell is it then?"

Garrus had a sinking suspicion that it was more than just that but he would worry about it later. As the runes started to change color, archangel turned around just in time to hear Chloe proclaim this wasn't the control room and looked at her with a confused expression on his face. Garrus Vakarian What are you saying then that this is some kind of decoy?

"I'm saying there's no other plausible explanation for my being denied other than this not being the real control room." Chloe expected Sincara to find a way to blame her for this too. You didn't need omniscient to see that she had a clear dislike for the vampire. The Empress waited for Sincara to get whatever was in her system out of her system before continuing. "If it's not here then I don't know where it is or who may be hiding it. We need more people if we're going to begin searching for it."
