"I know you don't like me Meryl but I'm here to help. I want to help." Rose moved past Drake and closer to Meryl, not believing that standing between them would be necessary. Meryl disliked her yes but it wasn't to a point where she'd jump her on sight. "Roy wants to help. This is your life we're talking about. Vulture will execute you if you're found guilty."

Meryl scoffed at Drake and folded her arms, refusing to even look at Rose while she spoke. "Oh, you're on the first name basis with him now, huh?" Meryl felt like puking and she wouldn't be opposed to doing it right on Rose. "Good. Let him find me guilty, because I'd rather be dead than accept any help from you!"

"I know you don't like me Meryl but I'm here to help. I want to help. Roy wants to help."
"Oh, you're on the first name basis with him now, huh?"
This is getting off to a lovely start, thought Drake sarcastically.
"This is your life we're talking about. Vulture will execute you if you're found guilty."
"Good. Let him find me guilty, because I'd rather be dead than accept any help from you!"
“Yeah, you see, you don't get a say in that. Because I'm busting my ass trying to prove your innocence and if you go and get yourself killed I'll be tearing down the dimensional barriers to the afterlife to kick your ass! Now sit down and listen to what Rose has to say.”

"I get that you're angry. Roy wanted to tell you the truth for the longest time now but he had no idea how to do it. You know he's no good at opening up. And we both understand that you need time to process this but if you never speak to him again, trust me, you will regret it for the rest of your life. And we both know you don't really want to die so please, let me help you."

Meryl stared darts into Drake before reluctantly sitting down on her bed to hear what Rose had to say. She was only half listening, at least listening enough to keep Drake from yelling at her further. "Regret? The one who should be feeling regret is my uncle." Meryl pulled her head up in order to look at Rose. "I'll let you help me. But I don't have to like it."

Drake paid no attention to the darts Meryl was staring into him at the moment. It wasn't the first time a woman has given him a death glare and knowing him it certainly wouldn't be the last. He just remained where he was and listened as the two sorted things out.

“Good enough for me.”
Drake turned to face Rose.
“What's our first step?”

With a frown present on her features Rose sat down next to Meryl on the bed and looked at her. "He does regret it." As Drake spoke up, Rose turned her head to look at him. "Getting this trial to last longer than one day. I don't suppose you have any leads?"

Meryl turned her head away from Rose and crossed her arms when she sat down next to her. Deciding to remain quiet while Drake and Rose talked strategy. It's not like she could do much in this cell except rot.

"Getting this trial to last longer than one day. I don't suppose you have any leads?"
“Our lead is Kailix. Unless you mean do I have any leads linking him to the attack then no, I don't. He's virtually untouchable meaning his files are classified and we have nothing. That is of course...”
A light bulb came on in Drake's head as he had already turned facing the cell door.
“We can find witnesses to the crime that hasn't been corrupted yet.”
Without another word to either Rose or Meryl, Drake walked with purpose out of that cell and returned once again to the scene of the crime.
