Judging by Drake's expression Roy could tell that Meryl neglected to mention that he remarried, and that didn't surprise him one bit. "Rose is my wife." So that was two reasons why Meryl hated him; for not coming clean sooner about being her real father and for marrying a woman around the same age as she. What a beautiful mess he was in. Before anymore could be said Rose came back down the stairs with her purse in hand. "I'm ready."

"Rose is my wife."
“Your wife?”
Meryl did neglect to mention that but remembering the back view he was checking out earlier Drake couldn't help but compliment him.
“Nice...”
"I'm ready."
But when Rose came back several problems now piled on top of each other at the recent news.
“There's a problem. I was just informed the two of you were married making you Meryl's stepmother, that could create a conflict of interest representing her as far as the Vulture is concerned.”

"My resume speaks for itself, Mr. White. It won't be a problem." Rose kissed her husband goodbye and then left her home with Drake. "Where did you park?" she asked as she looked around for a vehicle of some kind that normally wasn't seen on these streets. "Don't tell me you walked."

"My resume speaks for itself, Mr. White. It won't be a problem."
Drake opened his mouth to speak but by the time he did Rose was already out the door. He followed suit and closed the front door to her house behind them as Rose spoke.
"Where did you park? Don't tell me you walked."
“What if I did? We can take your car.”

Rose let out a sigh and just shook her head as she walked over to the garage. Pulling out the keys from her purse and opening up the garage door from the buttons attached to her keys, entering the garage soon after and starting up her car. It was a tight fit into the garage so Rose had to go in alone and pull the car out into the driveway for Drake to get in the passenger's seat.

Drake opened up the passenger's side door and stepped inside, strapping in and leaning back comfortably in the leather seat before turning his head over to look at Rose.
“So, how did you meet the Colonel?”

"I went to school with Meryl and met him through her. We met up again at a benefit concert a couple of years later and things took off from there." As she spoke she closed the garage door with her keys and then pulled out of the driveway going down the road. "I think it's sweet what you're doing. Most soldiers of your rank wouldn't put their neck out there for a Private. Meryl is lucky to have you as a friend."

“You have a thing for older guys, then? Or is it just older guys in uniform?”
"I think it's sweet what you're doing. Most soldiers of your rank wouldn't put their neck out there for a Private. Meryl is lucky to have you as a friend."
“Injustice is injustice, doesn't matter what rank.”

"I don't pay attention to his age." Drake would be able to tell she was lying by the look on her face but she would never admit to it. Reaching the end of the suburbs they headed for the entrance of the main city and Rose went on the path where she knew the military prisons to be thanks to what Roy told her. "Pardon me, Mr. White, but don't you think that's a little hypocritical coming from a soldier working for Vulture?"

"I don't pay attention to his age."
“Yeah, and I don't pay attention to your ass when you're standing in front of me.”
"Pardon me, Mr. White, but don't you think that's a little hypocritical coming from a soldier working for Vulture?"
“Maybe. Don't really care to tell the truth.”

Rose didn't say anything in response to the ass comment and just kept driving until they arrived to the military base where Meryl was being held. "I should warn you," began Rose as she found a place to park and stopped the car. "Relations between Meryl and myself are sensitive right now. There isn't much I can do if she refuses my council."

"I should warn you... Relations between Meryl and myself are sensitive right now. There isn't much I can do if she refuses my council."
“She won't refuse.”
Drake got out of the car after it parked and began leading Rose to the entrance of the base.
“If she values her life at all she won't refuse.”
The second the guards saw Drake coming they cleared a path and allowed the two entry, as they headed for Meryl's cell Drake turned to Rose and said, “You be good cop and I'll be bad cop.”

Rose raised an eyebrow towards Drake as they neared Meryl's cell. "We're the defense, Mr. White. Save the good cop, bad cop routine for the real criminal." Rose stayed by Drake's side, ignoring the low pitch whistles by the guards they walked past as they came to Meryl's cell door. "Let's hope you're right."

The buzzer sounded and the cell door came open. Meryl stood up from her bed to greet Drake but her eyes would soon narrow over the woman that was standing next to her, the second to last person she wanted to next to her uncle, the man she refused to call her father, and Drake just had to bring her here of all places. "What is she doing here, Drake? I don't want her here!"

"What is she doing here, Drake? I don't want her here!"
“And people in Jherrazad don't want to live in the middle of a desert, but they tolerate it because Moon Valley is filled with a bunch of piss drunk kids. Deal with it.”
Drake made a point of standing in-between Rose and Meryl just in case Meryl thought of making things worse for herself by attacking the wife of an honorary war veteran.
“Now listen, Rose is here to represent you in your case.”
