Drake White entered the suburbs located in the northeastern part of Isafaro tracking down the retired Isafaro Colonel of the Fox Hound unit for many years before the group was disbanded. To those that knew him closely enough he was Roy Campbell, to the rest of Isafaro he was simply The Colonel. Stopping at the end of a driveway, Drake looked at the address on his data pad and then to the address on the door. Seeing that the two matched he walked up to the door, taking a peak in the window to see if anyone was home but not being able to tell decided to just knock on the door and see if anyone answers.

Who in the world would be knocking at this hour? The brunette asked herself as she headed for the front door dressed in a long sleeved white blouse, black pants and matching white heels. Once in front of the door she took a look at who it was through the peephole, keeping the chain lock in place as she opened the door to greet the man. "Yes? May I help you?"

"Yes? May I help you?"
“Yes you may!”
Drake cleared his throat, reminding himself the reason he was here.
“I'm here to see the Colonel. It's about his daught–”
Drake stopped and quickly corrected himself.
“Niece. It's about his niece.”
Didn't want to go spilling family secrets.

"One moment please." Rose pulled away from the door and turned around to call out to the Colonel, "Roy! There's someone here to see you about Meryl." "Meryl?" repeated a much older male voice from the other room. "Yes!" "Who is it?" Rose turned back around to ask for the person's name. "Who are you?"

"One moment please. Roy!"
So that's what his first name was. Roy. Wait a minute, she was on first name basis with the Colonel?
"Who are you?"
“My name is Drake White, Crimson Vulture First Class. It's important that I speak with the Colonel.”

Rose unchained the door and opened it allowing Drake inside, closing the door behind them she led him into the living room where the Colonel was sat down in his high chair with his cane at his side. He looked up to Drake as Rose left the room; familiar with his work as one of Vulture's top agents, but this was the first time the two had met. It was a shame it couldn't have been under better circumstances. "You're here to see me about Meryl?"

Drake followed Rose into the living room, his eyes wandering down to her butt and lingering there for a brief moment before they reached the Colonel and he shook his hand in greeting.
“Colonel, it's a pleasure.”
Drake sat down in the couch across from the Colonel while Rose left the room.
"You're here to see me about Meryl?"
“There's no easy way to say this so I'll just come right out and say it; your daughter has been framed for treason. The evidence is stacked up against her and the real culprit is a VIP who's covered his tracks. What Meryl really needs right now is a lawyer to help create reasonable doubt of her guilt until I uncover more evidence that acquits her. Do you know anyone that can help me?”

"Treason?" Roy knew of course that Meryl could never commit treason, but he couldn't imagine who would go through all of this trouble to frame a Private. Whoever it was must have really screwed up and had no choice but to frame the person that just happened to come across them, Meryl. Wait a minute, did Drake just call Meryl his daughter? "She told you, didn't she? About the affair."

"Treason?"
Drake nodded.
"She told you, didn't she? About the affair."
Drake scolded himself mentally, having just realized in that moment he had slipped and called Meryl his daughter.
“Yeah, she told me.”

"A moment that has haunted me my entire life." Roy slowly stood up to his feet, grabbing the cane and leaning against it as he took a few steps away from where Drake sat. "Matt never knew, neither one of us ever came clean. After he died I vowed to myself to tell Meryl the truth, that I owed Matt that much. But I never knew the right moment, and now it may be too late to make amends with Meryl."

“We don't prove her innocence you'll be making your amends before watching your daughter be shot in the back of the head,” stated Drake bluntly while sitting up out of his chair. To be frank, he didn't care about their family problems. He cared about getting Meryl out of that holding cell a free woman. “You were the commanding officer of one of the greatest special ops team that Isafaro has ever seen, you must have some pull somewhere.”

"That was a long time ago. I'm just an old man now." Campbell moved back over to his seat and sat down. "I'm afraid I can't help you." He said regrettably but just as all hope seemed to be lost Rose reentered the room and cleared her throat to get their attention. "I-I can help... I have a law degree. I could represent her."

"That was a long time ago. I'm just an old man now."
Drake White looked surprise, turning around to remain facing the Colonel as he sat back down in his chair. Not believing that he was giving up so easily.
"I'm afraid I can't help you."
“Well ain't that just great,” began Drake sarcastically. “You know when Meryl went on about how terrible you were after finding out your lies I was thinking to myself that maybe she was being too hard on you. But I can see now that she was right, you aren't the man that inspired a young girl to become a soldier; you're just an old broken down warhorse that needs a cane and a maid to haul his ass around his own home!”
"I-I can help..."
Drake turned to see Rose over in the doorway that led into the kitchen.
"I have a law degree. I could represent her."
Drake took a moment to calm himself down from his previous outburst before replying, “Thank you. When can you be ready to head out?”

Roy said nothing in response to Drake's outburst and remained sitting in his chair perfectly still as Rose felt the awkwardness that has now sunk into the room prior to her own entry into it. "Just let me go and grab my purse. Are you going to be okay here by yourself, sweetie?" Roy looked over to Rose and replied, "I'll be fine." At that Rose went upstairs to go fetch her purse.

"I'll be fine."
A look of surprise displayed itself on Drake's facial features and after Rose went upstairs he turned back around to face the Colonel with a raised eyebrow.
“Sweetie?”
