“Kain! Gabrielle!”
Zora had made it to the northern part of the city where she knew the two had gone, still fearful that the Jherrazad Empire would appear behind her at any minute as she spun around, becoming dizzy at the tall buildings that surrounded her.
“Kain! Gabrielle!”
The witch didn't want to admit it to herself but she was scared, scared of what those people were capable of doing if they got their hands on her. Some of these muggles were nothing like the ones back home. They were just so...

Kain heard the child's cries from inside the military base and instantly he feared that Isafaro has already invaded their land and somehow found a way to breach their barrier. Quickly exiting the military base, Kain hurried over to Zora to find out what exactly was wrong. "What is it, child? What's wrong?" |

Gabrielle was already following Kain out of the base when the two heard Zora's voice outside. Running behind Kain she soon came to a stop once they made it to Zora and saw frightened look on her face, something that Gabrielle has rarely seen on the child since meeting her and it only made her worry more at what could have caused this to happen. Remembering the way she acted when Isafaro was mentioned between them the first time perhaps they really were here. And they couldn't have come at a worse time.
"Zora, calm down. What happened to the other girl that was with you?"

"What is it, child? What's wrong?"
Zora was a nervous wreck and could barely speak. Every time she opened her mouth sound was unable to come out of it as sweat poured down her face and hands.
"Zora, calm down. What happened to the other girl that was with you?"
“Jherrazad. Jherrazad is here and – and she stayed behind to hold them off.” |

Kain was half right, an invasion force did come for Kari but it was the Empire of Jherrazad and not Isafaro his old home. Upon hearing this news he ordered the few men that were around them to take up sniper's positions. What they lacked in numbers they would have to make up for in patience, stealth and precision. Weak or no they still had the technology advantage over the Empire, but technology alone wasn't always enough just like magic alone wasn't always enough. Only time will tell who would stand tall at the end of this battle but Kari could rest assure that Kain would not go down without taking some of them with him. "You're in luck Gabrielle, Jherrazad weapons and equipment are more similar to your but be weary. They have powerful magics on their side." Kain looked down to Zora. "That where you come in, to make up for what our technology lacks. While casting your spells be mindful of the Empress who wields the Kasul blade, it has the power to absorb your spells and hurl them back at you with twice the accuracy and force. I hope the two of you are ready." As he said this Kain drew his sword and held it up high. "Because on this day we hold the line! They will not take Kari or the Downward Spiral without a fight!" |

Sincara stayed behind to hold them off by herself? Gabrielle grew concern for the girl and turned back around to Kain who was already giving orders and preparing to hold the line right here where they now stood.
"One of us needs to go find the other girl that was with Zora. We can't just leave her behind."

Speak of the devil and he shall appear. The three would be able to see Sincara closing in on their position out in the distance, the Six Shooter still out in her right hand as she held down onto the top of her hat with the left. She was in a hurry and with good reason as the Empire of Jherrazad was still hot on her trail. The hole she forced them to climb up did not slow them down for long but it did give Zora enough time to warn the others. With no time for a hello Sincara stood with them and aimed her weapon out in the distance where the army was marching.
"Here they come."

“Forget it, Gabrielle! She's as good as dead!”
Zora spoke too soon because once she finished saying that they all saw Sincara running towards them, stopping between them and looking out the way she came as the Empire could now be seen marching right towards them
"Here they come."
Zora tried to be brave but her trembling body and sweaty palms betrayed that sense of bravery she was trying to put on as every part of her body was screaming at her to run. |

The sound of soldiers feet would be followed up by the booming voice of Empress Chloe, "KAIN!" She came to a stop, staring down the leader of Kari and his small army in the distance as her soldiers awaited the order to charge and both Kaso and Alexander remained at their side. She was already viewing the multiple ways this battle could go and what she could do to steer it in her favor as she stared Kain down. "You have no chance of victory, Kain! Surrender both your city and the tower to us and no harm will come to you or your people. This is your only chance to surrender, I will not be so merciful a second time!"

"You two," he said towards Zora and Sincara, "I want you both to provide cover fire for us alongside the snipers. Gabrielle and I will be charging on ahead. Understood?" As Kain received his replies he looked over to Chloe who offered him the chance to surrender, only if he surrendered his claim to Kari and the Downward Spiral along with it. "Never! I will never surrender Kari to the likes of you!" Kain charged into the heat of battle with his sword at the ready.

That was one problem resolved, and here came another one. By the looks of it they wouldn't even have much time to strategize as the time to act was now. Wishing the others good luck, Gabrielle drew her Samurai sword and charged into the fray by Kain's side.

"Understood."
Sincara stood to Zora's right and extended the barrel of the Six Shooter forward as her eyes remained on the army up ahead that Kain and Gabrielle was now charging. They would hear two gunshots fire it was not real bullets that came forth from the barrel. It was small energy shaped like a bullet that hit the two in the back and now produced a pure energy field around their bodies protecting them from the enemy's blades, magic and magical blades such as Kasul. With the number games on Chloe's side they needed every advantage they could get.

“What? Oh. Yes, I-I understand...”
Zora was still a nervous wreck and she couldn't control how much her body was shaking, and sweating as the two sides started to charge into battle against each other. She couldn't hit much from this range but any soldier to pass them and grow closer to her and Sincara was in for it, provided her nervousness didn't affect her performance. She saw what Sincara did and then went ballistic.

Chloe's soldiers charged the field with their tower shields raised protecting their bodies. The Empress already knew the position of the snipers and cut through the dimensional barriers with the demon sword in her hands to take them down. Sincara and Zora would also be greeted by a series of slashes through the very air around them as the vampiress would spare none on the battlefield regardless of age. Kain and Gabrielle would soon find themselves surrounded by soldiers with tower shields pushing them back while Alexander and Kaso moved about unseen.

Kain felt the source of pure energy enveloped his body but he didn't fully understand its function until one of the swords attacked him and the blade was stopped dead in its track by the energy now cloaked around his body. Led by the tip of his sword, he impaled the soldier after his failed attack and stole his tower shield in the process now ramming it against the others that surrounded him as he continued towards the Empress herself. |
