"His name is Kain and you need to show him respect." Already Zora was protesting the idea, hardly giving Gabrielle a chance to explain. She truly was spoiled. "Jherrazad wants to take away these people land, we're helping them to preserve it. We're attacking one of Jherrazad's camps tonight. We could sure use your magic for the attack. You in?"

"His name is Kain and you need to show him respect."
“Why? What has he done for me?”
"Jherrazad wants to take away these people land, we're helping them to preserve it. We're attacking one of Jherrazad's camps tonight. We could sure use your magic for the attack. You in?"
“What? Oh no. You're not dragging me into this. You can forget it!”

"These people have had everything taken away from them. Imagine no longer having a roof over your head, nowhere to sleep but the ground, and not knowing when your next meal is going to be. You don't have any idea what's that like." Gabrielle crossed her arms, offering a half smile to Zora immediate refusal to help them. "You aren't scared, are you?"

"These people have had everything taken away from them. Imagine no longer having a roof over your head, nowhere to sleep but the ground, and not knowing when your next meal is going to be. You don't have any idea what's that like."
“That's because I'm a witch, Gabrielle. What's impossible for you muggles is not impossible for me.”
"You aren't scared, are you?"
“What was that? Scared? Me? Of a few lousy muggles? Hah!”
If Gabrielle was planning to trick the child into helping her, it had succeeded. Already, from a false sense of pride and accomplishment, Zora was ready to rush head strong into battle to prove to this muggle exactly what she was capable of.
“All right, I'll help. You'll see for yourself first-hand just what I can do, then you'll be sorry you ever implied that I was actually scared.”

The girl just didn't get it. But eventually Gabrielle got her intended response from Zora. Her agreeing to help out with the refugees, and that was all that needed to be done for now. Nobody changed over night and Zora certainly wouldn't be the select few who did change quickly. "We leave as soon as dusk, make sure to be prepared by then. In the meantime you can do what you want as long as you don't venture far from the refugee camp and don't bother the refugees."

“Yeah, yeah. I'm going to go practice some spells.”
With that said, Zora took off without another word to Gabrielle. The Battling Bard wouldn't have to worry about the witch bothering the refugees. Zora didn't want to go anywhere near them let alone touch them. It had occurred to her to hex them but she didn't feel like dealing with the aftermath of that when she still knew so little about this world. So she went out near the edges of where the camp ended and started casting some spells. A witch could never afford to become rusty.

Gabrielle smiled as she saw the girl off, something deep down inside telling her that she and Zora were going to be experiencing a lot of things together. Not at all too different from the things Xena and she experienced. Maybe this was her destiny. To teach another like Xena taught her, and if this was anything like her adventures with Xena she was certain Zora would teach her some things as well. Gabrielle turned around and walked back to the refugees, wanting to find out more about the people who were stranded here in the desert.
