With the time given to him by Kragen, the archangel managed to get Zach up on the back of the now vacant horse and climbed up over the saddle. Garrus Vakaarian Kragen, let's go! Kicking his feet, Garrus rode off on the horse with the other soldiers hoping that Kragen wouldn't be far behind while Sparda and Alexander took care of the rest.

The .50 caliber devastated Alexander's sword, which luckily took the shot for Alexander as he raised it up in front of his face just in time to catch the bullet during his initial attack. Dropping his primarily weapon Alexander took out a dagger and his shield to help give him some form of protection against the Desert Eagle as he charged ramming the large shield head first into Ayanna.

Ayanna continued to fire away at the shield with the Desert Eagle badly damaging it and rendering it a mere shell of its former usefulness before kicking Alexander down to the ground by pushing her foot against the broken shield hard to make the knight fall backward. Putting away the Desert Eagle she helped Drake back up to her feet and tried to get away. While the tanks main weapons were temporarily offline one of the soldiers opened up the cockpit to one of the M1 tanks and aimed a sniper rifle forward, pulling back on the trigger and firing off a single sniper bullet that echoed through the air.
But it was not aimed at the rebels or the members of the Jherrazad Empire.
Instead it blew right through the temple of Zach. Blood flowing through the air as his body fell off the back of the horse and crash into the desert sand. Ayanna froze in place, her eyes in shock, disgust, horror. One of her own people just put a bullet in one of her closest friends head. A man who was like a brother to Ayanna. She cried out in anger. Hot, angry tears welling down her face as she put Drake down for a moment with every intent to go after Zach but she would be held back by the other soldiers and stunned. They took her and Drake back into the tanks and the moment the chaff grenades wore out.
They were gone.

All of Kragen's reflexes snapped into action as soon as he heard the shots but his eyes would fall upon the enemy, the hostage, as they fell to the ground dead. Eyes lied beneath the black gas mask looked over to the sniper from one of the tanks cockpits before they retreated and vanished, not by magic but by technology. In their failure to acquire one of their own they did the only thing they could. Eliminate him.

The horse panicked, tilting backwards and knocking Garrus off its back before running away. He turned his head and saw Zach laying next to him, dead. Shot by the very same people he swore his loyalty to and fought with. Was this the price one had to pay under Vulture? To be killed by his own comrades when his worth was no longer beneficial? What kind of loyalty was that? Garrus got up to his feet and saw the other tanks have left with both Drake White and Ayakka Kaktas. The only one left behind was dead. Garrus Vakarian Damn!

Gone. They hadn't even bothered to continue the mission with their ace in the hole out for the count; they'd just put a shell through the last prisoner's head and made off with the others. They'd rather butcher their own with nary a second thought than risk their secrets.
The Vulture was already making Sparda sick.
"Damned brutes," he snarled, turning to look down upon Zach's lifeless body. They'd had their hands on two of Isafaro's finest. How had it come to pass that they were now left with nothing to bring back to Imai but a...
Wait a minute.
"Of course!" Sparda groaned in irritation and dropped his face into his palm. "Dammit, why didn't I think of this sooner?" Shaking his head in spite of himself, the Dark Knight crossed the sands towards Zach's body, eyes wandering over the soldier's broken and headless form. If this had occurred to him before, they could've had everything they wanted from the prisoners already and it wouldn't have mattered at all what happened to them.
The demon stood over Zach's corpse, casting a pitch shadow upon it. From within that shadow, two skeletal limbs rose, skin hanging off spindly bones and fingers tipped with wicked claws. They reached into the body, phasing through lifeless flesh... and the familiar rent Zach's not yet departed soul from his corpse.
In an instant, it was consumed, added to Sparda's familiars - and he saw everything. All of Zach Tigerson's memories raced through the Dark Knight's mind in total clarity, disjointed and chaotic yet making perfect sense. Everything he'd ever known about the Crimson Vulture, from its most basic infrastructure to the most sensitive and dangerous secrets he was granted access to, was laid bare before the demon.
"Fascinating..."

Nothing remained of Alexander's shield before he was drove to the ground by Ayanna's foot. When he pulled himself up to his feet he saw a tank reached his position and quickly raised his blade to defend himself, which would seem foolish to many but as Kaso has already shown, not completely. But before any kind of a confrontation could develop from the reinforcement the tanks disappeared, no doubt through an act of teleportation, leaving the Jherrazad Empire without a hostage. Putting away his sword, Alexander walked over to the others and observed the body of Zach before looking over to Sparda.
"What did you do?"

Kragen watched Sparda consume the corpse. He wouldn't have known how to describe it in any greater detail than that. His knowledge and experience of the supernatural still being that of a novice. But it appeared that the man now knew something, for it was written all over his face and made obvious when he spoke. "What do you know?"

The rebel turian's walked over by Kragen side and watched as the two skeletal limbs came out of the shadow Sparda cast over the corpse of Zach Tigerson. According to reports one of Isafaro most capable agents. If they would do this to someone extremely valuable, Garrus didn't even want to know what they did to a lower ranking officer. What happened next, the turian didn't fully understand but whatever it did it appeared it had made the demon stronger than he was before, if that was possible. The question as to what he now knew was already posed, all Garrus had to do was wait for an answer.

Sparda was only too happy to enlighten his companions.
"What I did," he began in response to Alexander, "was take Mister Tigerson's not-yet-departed soul; and in doing so, acquire all of his memories." He turned to regard Kragen. "What I know is everything he ever knew about Isafaro's inner workings. Every dirty secret he had access to is now mine."
Turning back once more, the Dark Knight glanced down at Zach's body. Such a gruesome, graceless way to die. "Ironic that they were more useful to us in death than in life. And now the Crimson Vulture's lost one of its finest. I say we ride this momentum, and use Tigerson's knowledge to deal his esteemed employers another blow."
With a casual wave of his hand, the demon opened another portal, this one leading across the continent to Isafaro, in the vicinity of the resistance base from which this mission had begun. Stepping aside to silently usher Garrus and Kragen through, he turned his attention to Alexander for a moment, smiling cordially and extending a gloved hand for the warrior to shake. "Your assistance has been much appreciated, General. Give the Empress my regards."
