Kragen was no stranger to the harsh desert sands as he was reminded of all his days in Iraq going from point A to point B. The desert's conditions had very little effect on him but it was not the condition of the desert that earned his concern. It would be the tornado of bright green and yellow over reaching behind them where the Empire of Jherrazad stood as he alerted his partner, "Garrus, look." Something had gone horribly, horribly wrong back in Jherrazad and while they were nowhere near its reach now how long until they were?

Garrus looked over to the abnormality and in just one glance the rebel turian could see that they had gotten out of there just in time and hopefully the others would be able to handle the increasingly grim situation in the heart of Jherrazad itself. They couldn't let this change their current course however. Garrus Vakarian Come on! We need to warn the soldiers at the campsite. Garrus turned back to the path ahead and had his camel move as fast as it could until he could see the camp up ahead but when they got in close they would find the place completely deserted. And already something didn't smell right with Garrus as his guard instantly went up and he looked around the area, examining every crack carefully. Garrus Vakarian Something's wrong. There's no way they could have evacuated that quickly.

A pair of eyes peaked out from behind one of many tents inside the camp, a bow and arrow in hand. Pulling back on the bow he released it and sent the arrow through the camel Garrus rode on sending it down into the ground and repeating the process for Kragen's. Six soldiers in dirty clothes with swords raised charged out from the camp to ambush Kragen and Garrus, three men per each individual, led by Kain who with his dual daggers charged towards Garrus and swung at his head.

Ambush. These men didn't look to be with Vulture. So who were they? Kragen landed on his feet against the desert sand and checked to make sure Ayanna was okay before drawing his HK45 and unloading three .45ACP caliber rounds into the heads of the three men who charged towards him.

Garrus ducked beneath the swing of Kain's daggers and rammed his shoulder into the older man to knock him down on his ass before pulling out the M-15 Vindicator and open firing at the soldiers charging in on his position after Kain.

Kain fell down to the ground but rolled back and then jumped up to his feet, delivering a kick to knock Garrus' weapon out of his hands just in time for it to be shot off in a different direction from the rest of his soldiers. They surrounded Garrus and came down upon him with their blades as Kain continued attacking his front jabbing a single dagger towards his throat.

Kragen would see a small body spinning through the air while releasing an ancient Amazon battle cry Gabrielle landed down towards his right, her trademark brown staff in hand, quickly turning to face him and swinging the staff to kick his feet out from under him.

Amazon. A bit short though. Kragen jumped over the downward swing of her staff and then delivered a kick towards her chest to knock her back a bit before firing from the HK45 while being only five feet away from Gabrielle.

Garrus moved away from the kick and kept his weapon in hand. When the rebel turian archangel found himself surrounded he quickly did a spin around, firing from his M-15 at each individual soldier before coming back around to the charging Kain and unloading upon his head point blank.

With no time to think Kain acted on pure instinct and knocked the weapon to the side in Garrus' so it would have fired off in the direction of Kragen's back before the ex-soldier had a chance to fire at Gabrielle in close range. Hitting two birds with one stone. Immediately afterward Kain grabbed Garrus wrist and twisted it to disarm him before bringing his arm back into a wristlock.

“EXPELLIARMUS!”
Kragen would find his pistol flying out of his hand due to the magical intervention of a small child who had just entered the battlefield providing cover fire for Gabrielle. The Young Witch never cared much for muggle weapons. They tended to be loud, ugly and a bother to maintain. Nothing like a wand which was easy to carry, use and upkeep but what can one expect from muggles? They were a dirty sort. Zora kept a firm grip on her wand and eyes peeled on the battlefield for where her magic may be needed again.

Friendly fire. Kragen bullet proof vest allowed him to take the minimal damage from it but he still fell to the ground and watched his gun fly out of his hands from an unknown force. His eyes looked over, surprise concealed underneath the gas mask. A child? Flashbacks to the war filled his head as he remembered the enemy used children to throw the US military tanks off balanced and how the US troops were forced to run them over as stopping would lead into an ambush.
The ex-soldier rolled across the ground and grabbed the HK45 now aiming it towards the child with the magic stick. "Drop your weapon!" One would like to think Kragen wouldn't be able to harm a child but they would be wrong.

Garrus elbowed out of the lock before he could be fully locked into place and spun around coming back with a closed fist directly into the face of the old man. The other soldiers that was with him were all dead at the hands of Garrus and Kragen and all that remained beside himself was the out of dress blonde woman and the child. To think he actually had the nerve to bring a child out into a matter of life and death like this. He definitely deserved the punch in the face. He was glad to see Kragen was okay but his eyes widened when he saw he had his weapon raised against the child. Garrus Vakarian Kragen, you can't! She's just a kid!

Kain was knocked backward by the punch to the face but managed to maintain his footing and realized that Garrus was now distracted with the others. Taking advantage of this fact, Kain grabbed the fallen M-15 Vindicator and aimed it towards Garrus before yelling over to Kragen, "Stand down now or I kill your friend!"

Just as this skirmish had begun, the writhing maelstrom of energy that loomed over the castle behind the fighters was consumed by a great cloud of black and violet fog. Within a minute, it had disappeared, no longer a threat to the capital of Jherrazad.
But for Kragen and Garrus, the battle wasn't over.
As this latest standoff emerged, their reinforcement arrived; another, man-sized disc of jet miasma drifted into being, and through it Sparda strode, an urgent look upon his face. He took one look at the situation before him and realised that these strangers were nothing to do with Jherrazad - in fact, they seemed to be trying to mug Kragen and Garrus.
No chance of that. The Dark Knight was quick to set about restraining his allies' three attackers, tendrils of darkness rising from their very shadows, first to whip their weapons out of their hands, then to coil powerfully around their wrists and upper arms and wrench them firmly in place behind their backs.
"I think the Isafaro rescue party's onto us," he began quickly, addressing his companions. "No time to waste with common bandits, we need to get out of here now."
