Isafaro had everything that Zira Firestone could ask for in a city and everything she grew to despise. While it could never match her home during Mundus' rule the level of oppression and fear was more or less the same, and the open rebellion against their oppressor was the same as well. At the top of one of many buildings occupied by the Isafaro resistance sat the Firebird in the window still looking down at the beautiful metropolis that cried out for freedom. Dressed in a sleeveless black leather shirt, matching black leather pants and boots with a black leather jacket with a picture of a phoenix made out entirely by red flames on the back of it.
Zira could reach out through the city and hear the thoughts of it's people fill her ears. Not only that but their emotions ran wild alongside her own. Happiness, sorrow, anger, fear, pain, lust, and so many others. It put weight on her heart and made her draw a sharp breath of cold air. Going against her own common sense Zira closed her eyes and allowed herself to be pulled away by the emotions of the people here. Their happiness was her happiness, their sorrow her sorrow, their lust her lust. The Firebird shared everything with them until all the emotions were lumped together and became one desire in her heart, in her soul. And Zira was lost. Everything else around her faded away and all she had was her and her desire.

Pass the window Zira rested on was a large bell to the right of the room and further back was a ladder that led down to the lower levels. Aminee ascended up the old bell tower that in the past couple of months became a place of refuge for her and her thoughts when she didn't have anyone else to turn to. She found peace behind these old walls. As if she couldn't be harmed here. The Pop Idol couldn't explain it.
It was like her sanctuary. The one place her terrors couldn't follow. Coming up to the top, the Pop Idol spared a glance towards the large bell, still wondering whether or not it still worked but naturally not foolish enough to make unnecessary noise that could draw in the unwanted. The Pop Idol then saw Zira out on the window of the bell tower.
"We usually stay inside the buildings. Easier to evade a search light."

The Firebird was snapped out of her drug-like induced state and quickly pulled back inside the bell tower and tried to act natural while pressing a hand against the wall by the window to lean up against it. The way Zira came across was like a teenager just being caught by their parents smoking pot as she cleared her throat.
"Yes I know I was just- I was um... Force of habit. In my home I stood on window stills and rooftops all the time. It runs in the family."
Zira pressed her hand off the wall and brought it up to her face to wipe her nose.
"So um... what brings you up here?"

The Pop Idol cocked an eyebrow at Zira, who was acting suspicious and in this line of work suspicion was enough reason to doubt someone. It was enough to get you killed. "I always come up here when I want time to myself." Aminee scanned the woman but didn't see anything on her that could be viewed as a radio or some type of device to contact someone else. Aminee hardly knew anything about the new allied members that recently joined forces with them and as always the Isafaro resistance hardly knew anything about anyone. Desperation was an understatement with some of the things they let slide. Could come back to bite them all in the ass. "What's up? You seem tense."

"Tense? What gave you that silly notion?"
The Firebird's attempts to play it cool was fading fast, ironic that. She used to always be the more relaxed of the children of Mundus. The ones who remained surprisingly cold hearted despite the control of the fire element she harnessed with ease. Amoura was always the more emotional one but that all changed when Zira's heart awoke to justice like Sparda before her. Maybe it came with the territory. She was more human now than ever before but unfortunately that caused her to desire human emotion more than ever before. At first it was just training, then a guilty pleasure, now a necessity, a necessity bordering along the lines of an addiction and the one woman who could satisfy her hunger wanted nothing to do with her.
"If you want me to leave just say the word."

It appeared that the grown woman in front of her was perfectly content with acting like a child with their hand caught in the cookie jar. Well if that was the case then the Pop Idol would treat her exactly like that as she got up in her face. "Cut the crap! It's all too obvious you're trying to keep something from me. What is it?" This more than answered the "do you want me to leave" question as the Pop Idol wouldn't left her leave until she answered her questions. Already Aminee was assuming the worse. That Zira was in fact sending a message to Vulture or someone else to lead them directly to their location. Perhaps after all this time being too trusting of new people were going to bite them all in the ass.

"Back off!"
Shouted Zira as she used her telekinesis to push Aminee to the other side of the room not taking too kindly to having her personal space invaded in such a way.
"It's a demon thing. You wouldn't understand and believe me that's a blessing."
Being able to read every thought while at the same time feeling every emotion as they go? That was something a human could never imagine. It would drive them insane. She herself was already an addict because of this. Craving what naturally a demon couldn't have on their own. Were any of her feelings real or just the side effect of so much empathy through the years? Doubt filled up her mind and right now doubt was the last thing she needed to be feeling.
"I'm sorry... I didn't mean to come across as suspicious. I'm not doing anything that threatens the resistance you can trust me on that. I detest General Vulture as much as you guys do."

Aminee hit the wall on the opposite side of Zira and looked towards the woman with surprise, surprise at being shoved so far without even being touched and then anger, anger at the uncalled for aggression on Zira's part when the Pop Idol rightfully asked what she was hiding when she was acting sketchy. Pressing off the wall, Aminee got right back in Zira's face and refused to be afraid of her as she demanded an explanation. "What were you doing out the window?"

"I said back off!"
Zira pushed Aminee away with her telekinesis a second time, some people just always had to learn the hard, glaring at her darkly to indicate that she wasn't playing around. The last thing she wanted after an easy forged alliance was a incident that would weaken tides between them in the future but if Aminee kept pushing the issue Zira wouldn't be able to control herself.
"If you must know... I'm an empath. I was scanning the area reading people emotions. That's all."

Again she was pushed away, and again she was right back in the woman's face not backing down. "No. I refuse to be pushed around and I refuse to be intimidated. Now you are hiding something from me and I want to know what!" It was like the old Johnny Cash song, 'I won't back down' and that's exactly what the Pop Idol was doing. Tired of being everyone's beat-up doll whether it be the guards of Isafaro or the supernatural that dwell just outside of Isafaro. Zira finally did give her an answer but something wasn't adding up and of course Aminee would voice that too. "There's more to it than that. If you were just reading people emotions why were you being so secretive about it?"

Before the Firebird realized what it was she were doing she had already grabbed the Pop Idol and slammed her against the opposite side of the bell tower's wall with her bare hands holding her in place while eyes burning like a great big forest fire stared her down where she was pinned to the wall.
"I said back the fuck off!"
Zira threw her down to the floor in the midst of her anger and then turned around, running a hand over her forehead trying to calm herself down and then realizing what it was she just did. Turning around with concern on her face, Zira knelt beside Aminee's position.
"Aminee, I'm so sorry! Did I hurt you?"

"Get away from me!" Aminee scooted away from Zira and then pulled herself up to her feet using the wall behind her to support herself while placing a hand on her concealed pistol but didn't pull it out. The last thing the Pop Idol wanted to do was shoot at a new ally but Aminee refused to be the victim again and this pistol was the only thing she had on her that made her feel capable of fighting back because let face it, she wasn't the strongest or fastest person around. "Don't come any closer. I'm warning you!"

"All right. I'm staying away. See?"
Zira kept her distance, going back to the old window still and looking out through it to the city below. It was still a wonder how something so beautiful could be surrounded and consumed by so much darkness at a time. In a lot of ways she could relate. She was a demon, created from the fires of hell itself and through the power of the devil, a god. Logically there should be no way for her to be good when everything about her up-bringing was evil and yet here she was, fighting on the side of good. Surrounded and consumed by darkness but still beautiful. At least according to others she was beautiful. To Zira it was a different story.
"I'll be frank. I wasn't just sensing their emotions. I was indulging myself in them. When I read deeply enough I feel what they feel and get a rush from it. It's not something I'm proud of but it helps me get through the day. That's why I acted the way I did before. I was ashamed."

"You get off on our emotions?" Aminee couldn't believe it. That was sick! It actually made the Pop Idol want to throw up that how sick it was to her. To think that out there, somewhere, there was an abomination actually getting off on her pain like some sick pervert. Aminee had no one but herself to blame though. She was the one who persisted until the demon woman gave her a straight answer. But that didn't excuse Zira's actions, not by a long shot. "You're sick! I'm glad our emotions are so enjoyable to you. Have you been getting off on what I feel too? Have you!?"

The Firebird's eyes narrowed as she turned around and glared towards the woman who was now judging her. While there were nothing to be proud of in her own actions from earlier or the choice to seek pleasure from other human emotions that didn't give Aminee the right to judge her so harshly. Perhaps humans did think they could excuse their own behavior as long as they can find some reason to justify it. Like the fact Zira isn't human and only looks it. Well she wasn't going to put up with that, ally or not.
"Like you never did anything wrong? Look, I'm not proud of what I did but that doesn't give you the right to judge me. If that's all you plan to do then I take my leave now, enjoy your precious bell tower!"
And with that Zira headed for the exit....
