Garrus couldn't believe that he has been with this resistance for six months. Time flew when there were work to be done. Unfortunately he wasn't anywhere close to finding out how to get home, and nor was the resistance anywhere close to overthrowing the rule of their dictator, but the turian rebel still believed in both causes. Good things came to those that waited but also, good things came to those with clever planning. The resistance moves have been both strategical and tactical. But so were the Crimson Vulture. Garrus came to a stop at the door of Imai's room and tapped the buttons on the control panel nearby to activate the beep in the room to let the Commander know that she had a visitor.

Imai was deep in meditation in the middle of her room, legs folded and arms held out wide as she sat in a circle drawn on the floor and the scent of candle filled up the room as the light from their flame cast their shades on the wall. Such a practice given it spiritual intent would have gotten her arrested on the outside but here, here she was free. Here she was liberated and safe. Oh how Imai longed for that feeling throughout the nation not just for herself but for all of Isafaro. How she longed for the end of Vulture's reign.
But those thoughts were soon pushed aside. Soon her mind was clear and her body was at peace as nothing else stood between her and her god. A smile of pure happiness grew on her face as she indulged herself further into this inner peace. Imai let go of her pain, let go of her fears and in return she embraced the pleasures promised to her by her god. Feeling enlightened as a result of this. The beep from the outside panel just barely pulled her out of that intense state of worship as she opened up a single eye to the door. Wondering who it could be.
“Enter.”

Garrus Vakarian Commander. I was just- Garrus stopped as he stepped into the room, door closing behind him soon after. His eyes fell upon the scented candles, giving them a quick whiff of the nose before he saw the circle drawn into the ground. By the looks of it Imai was performing some kind of ritual. Well he had no idea. Garrus Vakarian Is this a bad time?

“No. Not at all.”
Imai blew out the candles and picked up the candlesticks off the floor and put them away before turning on the light through the computer via voice command. She also couldn't believe that it has been six months since the day the two of them first exchanged words after a bio-weapon outbreak threatened a sector of Isafaro and they barely escaped that part of the city-state with their lives. Needless to say Imai has grown used to having the turian around and couldn't imagine what life would be like without him, Kragen or any of the other allies from outside of Genesis.
“Can I get you anything?”

Garrus Vakarian No thanks I'm good. I was just wondering what the next course of action was. Garrus took another look at the room, specifically the symbol drawn into the floor as it was something he's never seen before and that has been a growing pattern ever since coming here. To the watchful observer one would notice that the turian rebel looked a little nervous but it was hidden well as he decided to just ask what she was doing. Garrus Vakarian What's that symbol on the ground?

“Oh, this?”
Imai looked down to the circle she drew into the floor which she would clean up later before looking back at Garrus.
“It's just a prayer circle. It's meant to protect one from evil spirits while praying.”
Imai understood how silly that sounded and since the subject of spirituality never came up that much around those in the rebellion, as most of them were tolerant of opposing beliefs anyway, Imai wasn't sure what to expect from Garrus, Kragen, Aminee or Kira in the spiritual department. At times a “Don't Ask/Don't Tell” policy was best.
“As for our next plan: you guys have done an excellent job at spoiling the Crimson Vulture's supplies and recruiting people which will affect Vulture for the long-term but we need to capitalize on this by claiming some sectors of Isafaro as our own. There's a small sector in the North-eastern region of the city which leads to the path of Hallowton. If we claim that we would be able to travel between cities far easier. More information will be given at the briefing tomorrow.”

Garrus Vakarian I see. I had no idea you were religious. Not that there's anything wrong with that just... you didn't strike me as the type. Garrus fought to maintain his composure and not let his nervousness show too much. It was the classic irony - a soldier who could rule over the battlefield and go through life killing hundreds of people but face him with a woman he liked and he was all sweaty thumbs. Once Imai started talking about business it became easier to maintain that composure as he replied: Garrus Vakarian Here's what I don't understand; why doesn't Isafaro just invade Hallowton and take their land? With everything I learned about them during my time here it's a mystery how this entire continent hasn't been taken over by their army yet.

“I'm more spiritual than religious actually. I'm not a fan of organized religion but I support people rights to be a part of one. Vulture won't allow any religion to be practiced in his country. He declared them all “dangerous illusions that should be toppled on” it's just one of many things he took away from us at the beginning of his regime.”
Imai pitied Vulture where others would have simply hated him for all he's done, Imai couldn't help but feel sorry for him. What kind of life did one have to lead in order to become so hateful and bitter? To have such an enormous lust for power? It kept her up at night.
“There are several reasons for that,” began Imai to Garrus last question, “what most people fail to realize is that Hallowton's citizens are more evolved than the rest of us. They possess a high intellect which allows them to manipulate others into doing what they please but since they're peaceful it doesn't go beyond protecting themselves. Jherrazad has supernatural abilities on their side that can make up for the lack of technology on their part and Aircano is literally under the protection of God. It's not as easy as Vulture and his men would like it to be.”

Garrus Vakarian Right the supernatural. I've seen some strange things in my day but nothing quite like that vampire we fought on the streets. How are we doing in regards to better weapons and equipment in that area?" Garrus doubt that every 'vampire' was as strong as the one they encountered but in this line of work it was better safe than sorry. Alucard was able to take everything the rebel group dished out and Garrus and the others weren't able to deal any real damage until that angel managed to bless their weapons. Without her help Garrus didn't want to think about how that fight would have ended. Garrus Vakarian And how are you holding up? Things were pretty rough out there.

“If we could find a priest or another angel we'd be good for the short term. But for the long term we'd have to get modified weapons that can take silver blessed ammunition and no one else around here can provide that except for Vulture himself.”
It seems whenever they needed more weapons and equipment they needed to get it right from under General Vulture's nose. While Imai wasn't opposed to stealing from the rich to give to the poor she wasn't closed off to alternatives which would help avoid one more life-threatening mission unless it did prove necessary.
“Me? I'm fine. I just... I never faced anything like that. But that's no excuse I never should have frozen up like that. I nearly got you and Kragen killed.”

Garrus Vakarian Silver blessed ammunition? Garrus could understand the blessed part but not so much why they needed to be silver to boot. It was just one more thing he didn't fully understand in this world that he'd would have to learn later. For now if such an ammunition would truly help them in their fight then the turian was all for acquiring it if they could. Garrus Vakarian Don't beat yourself over it too much. There was no way any of us could have anticipated something like that. It's one of the many downsides to the current state of affairs of the universe. What matters is you snapped out of it when you did and we got out of there in one piece.

“You're right.”
Imai offered Garrus a smile to reassure him that she was going to be just fine while sitting down at the nearby circle-shaped table and leaning back in the chair to relax.
“Is there anything else you wanted to talk about while you're here?”
Imai asked as she offered Garrus a sit in the chair across from her.

Garrus Vakarian I was interested in learning more about you. Garrus paused and through his nervousness thought that could be interpreted wrongly by the commander and quickly added to it to clarify. Garrus Vakarian Interested in learning what it was like growing up in a place like this. It couldn't have been easy with Vulture constantly breathing down your neck.

“Interested in learning more about me?”
Imai put her elbow up on the table and balanced her cheek on her hand as she smiled up to Garrus, noticing how he blushed (if turian blushed in the first place) and got all nervous as soon as he said it.
“Our home wasn't anything fancy but we made due. Vulture left us alone for the most part as long as we followed his laws without question and did nothing to upset the order around here. Of course there were times where he demanded us to take up arms. Whenever there's a need for a draft we'd have Isafaro foot soldiers knocking down our doors to take anyone old enough to carry a rifle. They took my father and brother.”
Imai went quiet, hearing the screams of her family echoed throughout her mind as the memory of that day came back to the forefronts of her mind.
“I never saw them again.”

Garrus Vakarian I'm sorry. To think about all the things Vulture has done to his people made Garrus want to make him pay personally for his crimes. He was long overdue for being brought to justice. But what Garrus wondered is why they didn't take Imai considering she was a biotic and Vulture's lust for power made it obvious that he would love to have people like her in his army whether they wanted to be there or not. Garrus Vakarian Why didn't they take you? I would've thought Vulture would want a biotic on his side.
