For the record I didn't have a problem with the post. I was however surprised to be the first one to spot the cannibal orgy right off the bat but that's a topic for another day. Save it for Halloween.

Utena, the thing you need to try to understand is that The Arashi has always been about religion. Veran is the dark half of God if he had a dark half. His job is to take what is considered pure and beautiful and tear it down into something dark and gruesome. Aper was a follower of Christ like Miracle. He tore down the Holy Temple in his first and only fight here.
I can't ask Ranka to not go there because for him to do that the entire Arashi plot would have to be abolished. Characters like Miracle and Lord Beelzebub would have to be removed and I'm just not going to do that. I value your guys input on the site, you're welcomed to comment on what we do here, but at the end of the day we, the staff, are going to do what we find to be fair for everyone and getting rid of the religious elements on the forum isn't fair to anybody.
I hope you stick around, Utena, but just know if you're going to stay you'll see a lot of religious elements. It's a common source of inspiration for writers.
I ask that if something angers you this much take a moment to breathe, because when we're angry we say things we don't mean because we aren't thinking, and if we aren't thinking we're going to make statements we can't back up. So always remember to breathe.
Thank you.

I echo that question and follow it up with a, "What were you expecting?" I know I was expecting Veran to lay Zira down on a field of flowers and stroke her hair. I invite him to my annual tea parties, he's a nice guy just a little misguided. Will there be Earl Grey?

Actually Mariya echoed my dislike of the Arashi plot quite well. That and it was only centered on a few characters while offering very little for others to do.
I solved that problem by moving to Isafaro where the plots are good and the characters are mustachio'd. and taking part in the War plot as well as donating a character to the Trials of Fate.

Ok, so, I'm going to give my two cents on the issue since everyone seems to and I wanna be cool. =P
First off, hi. Most of you don't know me since I haven't been too active yet. Recently however, I had been following the Party in Crystal City thread, reading what was going on with the site, while deciding on where I wanted my characters to go. I was highly impressed with the immersion that the characters had in that story. The post that Veran wrote, which seems to have caused a lot of controversy, is in my mind what a writer aspires to do. He made his character real. The amount of effort he put into that one post alone more than matches the majority of things I've read on this site, and for that I would like to offer him a round of applause, for him and everyone partaking in the thread as well.
I understand that for some people, it was an atrocity and, ToS violation aside, I can understand why they thought it should be removed. Here's what I don't get, if you don't like it, don't read it. Don't rp with him. It seems that simple to me. I understand the religious aspect to it as well, believe it or not. I'm not a christian, not by a long shot. However, one of my friends is a die hard believer, and as such I've learned a lot of the religion over the years. There's something in there about turning the other cheek I believe, which could be applied here as well. The church being destroyed? Look beyond the FICTIONAL realm for a minute, and take a look at the news. The world is in chaos. Overthrowing dictators, starving countries, wars (religious or otherwise) and the best people can say is, that post is too graphic? I think we need a little perspective here.
From what I was reading, it seemed everyone in the thread was full on board with the Arashi plot and storyline, meaning they knew full well what was to be expected from this thing created by a god to be the harbinger of destruction. Maybe they didn't anticipate him playing his role so completely, and once more I applaud him. I met Veran, or whichever name you know him by, years ago when I first started role playing. He became one of my greatest inspirations as a writer because of how detailed he was, how creative and in depth his characters were. Now, because of his own ability as a writer, he's being persecuted for playing his ROLE in a FAKE WORLD flawlessly. Something not adding up here?
I've seen the argument against it on religious grounds, now I'm gonna talk about that. Utena, you wrote that you didn't share your religious beliefs because you didn't want people attacking you or trying to discredit you because of your beliefs. First off, should that happen to anyone, I like to believe that they would have full support in their religion from everyone else here. I actually watched this site for a few days before joining, something I always do. I joined not only because this site was active and had some of my friends on it, but because everyone seemed to actually be friends with each other. None of them seem like the type to attack someone for believing something different. Except Amoura, she's crazy, so she doesn't count. Now, the part about attacking people for their beliefs is where I'm going to pick at you a bit, and call me out if I'm too harsh.
Isn't that exactly what you're doing right now? You're attacking him for a post that he wrote, because he BELIEVED that's what needed to be done. He believes in being true to his characters, and always giving his absolute best to everyone he RPs with. If he believes he can't do that, he doesn't post, he waits until he has in his mind what he needs. I like to call it integrity, but that's just me. Now, defiling a place of worship, I can understand that being an issue. It seems like a personal attack against one religion, but it's not. That just happened to be the setting, so that was sheer random happenstance. But, it's not a personal attack, I guarantee it. Outside of his characters, Veran is one of the nicest guys I know. If for a second he thought that his post was way too over the top, he'd have never done. He even stated that he was in communication with everyone involved and even edited his post some. Seems to imply everyone was on board as well, and give you insight into him. The fact that he thought ahead to make sure everyone was ok with what was going on, and with what he had planned, means that he's a good guy, he's not out to get you personally.
Now for everyone in general. I like the show of support and unity, really do. I just have a little more criticism and I'm done, promise. The post in question was removed because of a few complaints which I don't think anyone but staff even saw. Don't the rest of us get a say? I was considering joining in on the Arashi arc because it looked a great time to fully flesh out my characters views, and make some new friends. If the story arc was that atrocious that it had to be removed, I understand that, really I do. My suggestion from here on out, if EVERYONE ALREADY IN the story arc wishes to continue, set them up with a private sub board pass word protected. That way this doesn't become an issue. I personally will miss the good read, but that seems to be the only option. Because of the complaints of a few people, the story that seems to have been in the making since the boards creation is now falling apart, leaving all those users and characters that have dedicated much time and effort into working on this plot to try and bring everyone together with nothing. That doesn't seem right to me.
For those uninterested in the Arashi arc, don't partake. Don't say it's taking over the entire board, because it really isn't. Maybe it's shaping the character relations of the story, but isn't that staffs choice to change their site how they want to? Seems like the staff is in general agreement that the Arashi arc is ok, and they're allowing it to affect their site, for which I also applaud. Just because something is there, it doesn't mean you have to look at it and criticize the hard work everyone else has done. I myself am contemplating leaving the site over this incident, to be perfectly honest with everyone. If this is how the reaction is to be because someone takes the time to work diligently on a massive, in depth story, then I'm not sure this is a place that I want to be. Where the radical minority out weigh the rational majority? That's just wrong, and I for one don't want to be a part of it.
Thank you to whoever took the time to actually read my thoughts on the matter. Anything you wish my to expand upon I will gladly do so in Pm. If anyone thought I was too harsh at a particular point, notify me and I will send an apology forthwith.

Hey. HEY! HEY! I'm not that crazy.
Well in terms of history on the board it really did so if it were deleted, it would cause major problems because we'd have to find a way to fix it all up. The chapters are up to describe all that's occurred and the Arashi have played a HUGE part of the board's development.
While I completely agree with the don't RP with someone if you don't like what they do, the post in general did disturb some people. It wasn't just a matter of ToS violation but some people were disgusted and spooked by it. Basically, corpses were eating each other and having an orgy. Personally, I thought it was perfect for Veran because that's how his character is: he shows the most grotesque things that could possibly be conjured up no matter how taboo it is. For others, however, it was very disturbing and I can understand that for those not used to reading what Veran does to unfortunate victims.
I hope I clarified some things <3

Sup!
Thank you for all your comments and support, guys. This truly means a lot to me.
I will make a short statement so as to explain my take on what will be happening to prevent any argument from spiraling beyond a reasonable theshold.
-I am not leaving the site -Events of It's a Party will remain canon -I will make a thread expanding upon the state of Crystal City -The natural progression of that thread would be that the survivors escaped to Utopia thanks to Maricul, however information pertaining to specific characters will be decided by their RPiers -The Arashi plot will continue

Nope sorry, I don't like this "don't like it don't read it" mentality some of you seem to have. If you're going to be a writer then you better develop a hard skin quick because you will be criticize. It's not a matter of if but a matter of when. Thing is, you can choose the type of criticism you want to pay attention to. You can either take it to heart or let it slide off your back but if we don't read it then how will we know if we don't like it? Just because we didn't like your previous work doesn't mean we won't like your future work.

The thread wasn't removed because of a couple of complaints, only moved to moderation while we evaluated the situation. The thread was finally removed due to it not coinciding with the ToS and that were just the posts. The entire storyarc can go on as intended but we have to tone down the violence and all other adult content but that just doesn't go for us, that goes for everybody.

Just because we didn't like your previous work doesn't mean we won't like your future work. I agree with this, to an extent. I doubt how much of it applies to a role playing game where you're mostly in it just to have fun but if you do get some criticism that you don't like you can just ignore it. You don't have to respond or anything. If you want you can make a general statement like, "I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the post" but you're not obliged to do more than that especially if you're not asking for criticism. Thing is we have a "RP Discussion" board which allows us to discuss other people RPs and with that, the criticism is always going to be there and I think that what makes this board standout from other RPGs currently around today.

I get the feeling we changed topics halfway through here... lol sorry it's just the whole "Don't like it don't read it" deal has been used so many times it's really annoying. I must have criticized Veran's work like a motherfucker by now and he never told me that. But there needs to be at least some logic behind the criticism.

I enjoy your criticism because you make strong, valid points to support your opinion. And you're entitled to that. I don't tolerate stupidity - you have never been stupid in your unabashed quest to tell me why my writing is crap XD
