Age: 23
Species: Humek
Alignment: Neutral
Date of Birth: 99th year, Humek Standard
Place of Birth: High-Tor, the HomeForge
Physical Appearance: Joshua's a Humek, a Machine Man of the industrial order. His body is lean and fit, well toned with a runner's physique. Metal runs woven with his skin and muscles, and his skin is almost like warm gold. He has bronze eyes and his hair is like brass wire. Two metal gloves dominate his hands, and he wears a black work uniform over his tanned skin. He's always smiling under that black mask and tinted pair of goggles, and he often wears gold and silver jewelry.
Personality: Zeal is a great word to sum Joshua up with. He's brash and young. He's been brought up a royal and carries himself with a hubris and grace you'd expect from a prince or a duke, but he's still got that reckless untempered energy of an eccentric youth. He's fascinated by the new and has a taste for the pleasures of life. He's still somewhat naive about many things but has a good mind for machinery, and a strong pride in his
Special Abilities:
Humek: Joshua's body is a mix of human flesh and bone and many metals, He's a machine and a man, and he's got nerves of steel and an iron will. He's stronger, faster, more agile, and has more durability and stamina than a normal human due to the metallic substance in his body.
Machine Mind: as such he's able to control machines he's connected to his body like they were extensions of himself. Usually he uses his metal gloves as conduits of this power, grabbing onto things and fusing them with his gauntlets. Objects manipulated by this power can be discarded at any time, what's more they become PART of Joshua, and damage to them causes pain to the King of Hands as though the blows were to his own flesh and bone and tin.
Gadgeteer: FOR SCIENCE! A machine mind is always tinkering and Joshua can often be found making various utilities and gadgets for himself, many have a strange and hilarious habit of backfiring horribly on him, but these things can be corrected in the attempt!
Weapons: Joshua's two large metal gloves serve as his primary weapons, he's proven himself capable of crushing through a number of objects with his glove-enhanced grip, and he coined the moniker of "Citizen Chops" when he demonstrated his ability to slice and crush almost anything with his big hatchet-handed karate chops. Furthermore Joshua can hijack other weapons with his gauntlets, upgrading himself temporarily with some nifty little toys now and then.
Though not intended for it most of the time, Joshua's gadgets can surprise people in a fight with an unexpected new usage for them.
History: The High-Tor was home to some of the greatest minds and bodies and souls of the Humek Race. When the one of pure flesh first dabbled with the Silarium, the heart of a dwarf star encased in a fiery ruby, they found it was a mix of fire and steel, living energy and ingenuity. The change was slow and gradual, but it did happen. Many people were enticed by the Silarium's power, watching as metal moved to the will of whoever held the "Heart of Hearts", the crystalized core of a sun. The first Humeks rose as men with metal skin, ornate bodies as though carved of living armor, being of modern machine and meat. With time artisans and great thinkers worked with the Silarium's power, making each new generation more complete, more perfect.
Soon they reached the point where man and metal were one and the same, there was no longer a machine connected to a man, but the Machine Man, the Humek Race was born in the crucible, impurities removed in the fires of progress. Humeks and Humans had no qualms with each other, they both lived in harmony, both continued on, yet the old ways were dying out, and as the Humek Race expanded, the human race dwindled and soon vanished from their lands, only the Humeks remained. The Bryans line ruled the Humeks, for theirs were among the finest created with the Silarium.
Joshua Bryans was born to his mother and father, and showed an aptitude for working with metals from an early age. Unlike his siblings, however, and unlike his Father Jonathan, he showed no interest in their heritage and the rank and station he would be heir to. Joshua shunned the familial symbols, and saw no interest in the Silarium outside of its ability to shape metal to his will. Joshua earned his nickname "King of Hands" when he chose to craft those iconic gauntlets of his opposed to taking up the family's tools and symbols of leadership; the Sword and Hammer. In a duel over his attitude, Joshua beat his older brother Johund by crushing his sword and throwing it aside. For his actions and his inability to temper himself, to fill his role as a member of the royal family, Joshua was cast out and banished.
When the worlds collapsed on themselves Joshua was fortunately down at a pub and missed the maelstrom of reality's singularity. A few minutes later he left the pub, realized he was in Isafaro, and walked down the street, trailing his gauntlet over a metal rail and listening to the almost musical ring of steel on steel.
