Name: Nicholas D Wolfwood
Aliases: "Chapel", "Nicholas the Punisher", "Shitty Priest"
Age: 14-16 (appears early 20's due to modifications)
Gender: Male
Species: Human (Modified)
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Canon or Original: Canon (Trigun)
Date of Birth: Unknown
Place of Birth: The Planet Gunsmoke
Physical Appearance:
Special Abilities: He was trained from childhood how to handle a gun and to kill, and through "modifications", Wolfwood was engineered with enhancements such as; greater bone density, increased muscle strength, heightened sensory abilities, and abnormally fast healing (which can be enhanced using vials of drugs he keeps on his person).
However, as the modifications were merely prototypes, he does have several "glitches", for example, the healing process is set to simply close wounds as fast as possible to continue fighting, rather than healing efficiently. This can lead to bullets being healed over, or bones healing wrong before getting medical attention. The healing also speeds up his bodily functions, which can lead to an internal meltdown if pushed past it's limits, or be unable to fight an infection or illness properly. He also, on occasion, has had trouble controlling his strength and getting used to heightened senses.
Weapons: The Cross Punisher; a personal arsenal complete with eight pistols, a machine gun at one end, and a rocket launcher at the other.
History: Wolfwood killed his abusive guardian at a young age, and lived in an orphanage for a good chunk of his childhood. Despite the early trauma, Nicholas' time in the orphanage was the happiest he has known in his life, and he grew fiercely loyal and protective of the place, and the children there. As such, he has a weakness for children in general, and is quick to anger if a child is harmed or threatened.
Several years later, when Wolfwood was about 7-10, a man named Chapel the Evergreen came to the orphanage and took him away, claiming he would help build churches in the outskirts of Gunsmoke. In reality, he was a member to a Plant-worshiping cult of assassins known as The Eye of Michael. He had seen the kid's potential, and decided to take him under his wing. In order to keep him from rebelling, the Eye of Michael kept the orphanage hostage.
Unable to escape, Nicholas was put through rigorous training to become an assassin worthy of the Eye of Michael. However, being a mere human, he was unable to surpass his master's expectations and was then used as a lab experiment for bio-engineering the perfect assassin. These modifications had another side effect; causing Wolfwood to age much faster, looking to be in his early-to-mid twenties, when he is in fact in his early-to-mid teens.
After four years of training, Wolfwood learned about the Eye of Michael's true purpose; to breed a clan of weapons for their lord, Knives, to use at his disposal. When Chapel the Evergreen was called to serve Knives as a part of his Gung-Ho-Guns, Wolfwood took action and turned on his master, crippling the older man, in order to take his place as "Chapel" and get to Knives from the inside.
During his time outside of the Eye of Michael, Wolfwood travels the planet as a wandering priest, using his mercenary skills and priestly "confessions" to con fellow travelers out of money, food, and shelter. Ironically, he winds up meeting Knives' brother, Vash the Stampede, on his way to meet with his new master. The two form a fast friendship before Wolfwood continues to Jenora's Rock to meet with Knives.
After the incident with Vash's Angel Arm, and he goes missing, Wolfwood attempts an attack on Knives while the plant is injured. His attack fails and Knives catches him, and surprisingly (probably due to his earlier encounter with Vash) he lets him live and sends him to bring Vash back to him; ensuring Wolfwood's loyalty by threatening the children in the orphanage.
Two years later, Wolfwood finds Vash again and the two travel together for a good length of time. Wolfwood has a very hard time dealing with Vash's 100% "no-kill" policy; due to his own harsh upbringing, Wolfwood has little problems with killing someone or something he considers a threat. He believes that hard choices have to be made, and the lives of the many outweigh the lives of the few.
As the two travel together, Wolfwood's loyalties between the two brothers get strained. He grows extremely close to Vash, and it's killing him to have to betray one of the only friends he's ever had in his life. On the other hand, he is still fiercely loyal to the orphanage. He knows that if he fails his mission or shows signs of rebelling that Knives and Legato will kill the children, forcing him to watch. Stuck between a rock an a hard place, this strain has been wearing down on Wolfwood's already fragile mental state, and he is currently stalling as long as he dares.
