Rina
If wishes were horses In the heat of the day, Rina found solstice in the shelter of the oasis that she had discovered after an encounter with Ansem, the “Heartless”. She still wasn’t entirely sure exactly what he was, but for some reason, she didn’t care to wonder further. The oasis was massive in size, and she would have loved to go and explore, except it was way too hot during the day, and the fact that her hair was as black as coal did not help. So instead, she lounged by the lakeside, watching the still water quietly as the shimmering sun beat down with the intensity of a dragon’s fire. Despite the heat, it was peaceful.
That peace only seemed to be completed by the appearance of a trio of horses.
Rina’s wolf ears pricked forward at the sound of hoof beats, her golden eyes brightening as the large beasts galloped in, flanks steaming under the sun and nostrils flaring. The big, red one trotted ahead of the other two, a grey and a chestnut. They took to the water like bird to the sky, their snorts and whinnies filling the air and ringing in her ears as they played and relaxed in the cool blue. Rina had always liked horses. She supposed it was her human side that made it so, but she knew deep down it was because of her kind and caring mother, who loved all things beautiful. Slowly rising to her feet, she stepped closer, keeping her tail still so as not to spook the creatures. Small grey glanced up, dark, chocolate eyes spotting her. The mare snorted and reared up, streaking from the water and to the shore where she stood, facing Rina with her head raised, ears pinned. Rina used her body language to let the beast know she meant no harm, and the mare relaxed some, though her gaze remained wary. The big red came splashing out behind her, followed by the chestnut filly.
It was then that Rina realized that these equines were all related.
They were family.
The mare came closer, seemingly noticing a change in the strange girl before her as she stretched a hand out and waited. With a nicker that could only be understood among animals, the small grey pushed her nose into the girl’s hand. All of Rina’s guarded walls dropped and she beamed, delighted. She didn’t speak as she let her pale hand run down the mare’s silky muzzle, her golden orbs filling with cheerfulness. She grinned widely as the other two equines pressed closer. With them half-surrounding her, her midnight hair, which flowed over her shoulders and down her back like dark water, didn’t seem to bother her anymore.

((I hope you dont mind my company. I tried messaging you)) The soft delight of the peaceful disney moment was quick to dissipitate under the intrusian of the woken horror. The air of calm quiet broke suddenly on the rising sound of something heavy dragging through the sand followed at times by an unusual and heavy stumble.
Had he been fluent, Pyramid Head would have shared a volley of curses with the gods. His normally strng graceful gait was shattered by the unfamiliar terrain he oft stumbled over. Here and there his heavy footfalls sank into the greedy gold and sent the usually terrifying monster foreward in a propelled motion of hilarity. More then once he had found the tip of his tetrahedral helm deeply rooted in the sand, or else the same fate for the large blade of stained steel cutting a path in his wake. With a furious growl he stood again to shake the sand from his helm where the bottom opened to looming darkness.
As he completed the motion his veiled gaze fell upon a spot in the distance resonating with life, and instinct drew him like a puppets string. The desert heat did not bother the monster though its pleasant pounding warmth upon his back was a new experiance, like much of all he had encountered since waking. He seemed certainly fitting for the desert dressed as he was in but his helm and apron with an almost likeness to the jackle headed god of death. Well built physique relaxed as his motions slowly began to adjust to the feel of desert floor beneath him.
Though his initial instinct would have directed his attention the the other inhabitants of the oasis, a rare moment befell him and instead he was drawn to the waters edge, effectivly ignoring the mares and girl despite what chaotic reactions likely ensued.
He had not planned, having little knowledge of such things, for the sudden change in texture of the sand. He stumbled and his hand released his blade, leaving the object stationary and sunken into the ground. The weight of his helm threw his balance and, with a mighty splash hilarities ensued as the top heavy monster fell to his hands and knees, the water at his elbows.
It was obvious by the stilling of his form the beast was almost trapped between shock and fury as he leaned back, only to discover once more the tip of his helm lodge heavily into the sand beneath the waves. The water was cool and began to stain crimson with the blood and dirt it freed from his flesh. Years worth of both substances stained his body, apron, helm and blade.
Finally with an angry and quite shocked snarl he pulled free, shaking off like an angry dog as he clambered back to his still upright weapon. Perhaps he was capable of speech, but years of lacking the need to use such a skill had left him short of trying.

If wishes were horses The stillness that had overcame the horses and Rina was broken at the presence of something else. Seeing the hulking, human-like figure that resonated a dark aura, the gray mare bolted, creamy tail held high like a flag in the air. The red stallion followed, nudging the chestnut filly before him as they galloped off. Rina watched them go, golden gaze passive. She didn’t move for what seemed like the longest time, wolf ears twitching as the sounds of the approaching figure drew nearer still. She was quiet until…
SPLASH!
Turning, she viewed quite a humorous sight. The beast, clearly not used to such an uneven terrain, had tripped and fallen into the shallows of the lake. The wolf demon girl watched him, lips quirked in an amused smirk, though she did not laugh. She could sense that would not have been a very good idea. And besides, he was invading her territory, which she really didn’t like. While she observed him, questions darted through her mind; what was he? For he obviously wasn’t entirely human. Why did he wear that huge helm over his head? How many had he killed? She could see how much blood stained his appearance. These thoughts and more flitted across her mind as she continued to watch the beast rise from the water in an irritated manner.
On her end, she was cautious, her stance half-crouched in a way that she could flee easily if needed. Her tail swept the dark sand below her feet, making a soft, whooshing sound that rasped the heated air. She didn’t outright flee. This was her spot. This was her territory he had stumbled into, so she wouldn’t go easily. Her golden eyes watched as she waited, shoulders tense, her instinctive, territorial growl muffled in her throat now that the comical scene had passed.

As his hand clasped the handle of his weapon he made a long drawling sound of exhasperation warped heavily by the echoing expanse of his helm. This day was already too long for his tastes. His wordless thoughts cut short as the soft swish of motion caught his attention. He had forgetten his company so quickly. In a surpisingly quick motion his helm jerked in the wolfs direcrion.
He froze, getting his bearings. Prey? It smelled strange for prey. It didnt smell like him though. Or Alessa. He wasn't quite certain what to make of this first encounter as he remained incredibly still. Impossibly still. There wasn't so much as a twitch of muscle despite his strange pose and the top heavy weight of his helm. Not even the rise and fall to betray a breath.
He moved slowly. Around the blade so that it lay behind him. He paused again. A twitch as his helm cocked tonthe side almost. curiously. Another pause. Then an incredibly strong lurch that drew the point of his blade from the earth, more because it orritated him rather then to pose a threat. Finally his laboured steps began as he made his way towards her. Would she flee like prey? Attack like him? Command like Alessa? Or something new? He wasnt sure he could understand new. Could deal with new.

If wishes were horses As she watched this strange human-figured beast, she got the sense that speech wouldn’t do much. It wouldn’t matter anyway; speech was never her first way of communication. She waited, half-crouched, her movements stiff as he jerked around to look at her through that giant helm on his head. She couldn’t see his eyes, but she knew that he saw her. Wolf ears pinned as she caught the tensing of his leg muscles, an indication that he was about to spring forward. When he did, she shifted, midnight fur covering her skin as her bones twisted and snapped, crackling audibly as her form changed into that of a canine. She changed from girl to wolf and held her ground, snarling lowly.
She would not flee. This was her territory.
The midnight black wolf bared her fangs in a clear warning sign. A declaration that she was going nowhere and that he better back off as another rumble rose to her throat, neck fur standing on end and tail held straight in the air behind her. She lowered her head, now crimson eyes flashing as she snarled a second warning.

And there it was... new. Pyramid Head stopped quite suddenly and his head tilted in confusion. This was not Alessa. It wasnt like he. It wasnt prey. Pyramid Head would have laughed had he known such a sensation. What did he do now? He had never eaten fur before. It didnt look edible. Definantly not prey. It wasnt telling him what to do. His helm jerked in a mannerism like a confused dog. He straightened. What now?
His beastial subconcious had no answer. What would Alessa do? He didn't know. Talk? Hr had never tried... but he wasn't incapable. A low sound echoed in his helm. Was that his voice? It sounded like pebblea rumbling about in his helm. Better try again.
In a gravely voice he spoke, and the sensation of the short speech shocked him to thecore. "W... wh... f.... te. Sssshhhh.... laaa.." Okay so he didn't actually manage to speak but it was his first attempt. The taste of copper filled his mouth. In his attempt to speak he had learned he had very sharp teeth...
He snarled and raised the blade. With a thunk it dropped beside the wolf, more a display and show of anger at his own oneptitude.

If wishes were horses Her sudden change seemed to confuse the creature before her and her snarling ceased abruptly, head tilting at the sounds that echoed from beneath that helm.
Was he trying to speak?
Pricking her ears forward, her stance relaxed some as she cocked her head to the side, seeming more like a curious dog than the wild wolf she was. She listened. Yes, he was trying to speak. The scent of fresh blood filled her nose and she lifted her muzzle to sniff at the air, wondering where it was coming from. After what sounded like an attempt at speech, the beast suddenly snarled, raising his blade into the air and dropping it into the sand right beside her. This action caused her to jump sideways, a startled yip escaping her maw. She stilled again and watched him, waiting. He was attempting speech, but for what? Tilting her head again to the side, she sent him a questioning look that she hoped he could recognize. Expressions and body language…was that something he could understand?

The large knife twisted in his hand as he dug the tip into the sand, helm turning to follow the creatures movements. This speech thing humans did. Did the dog understand? Maybe he wasn't doing it right. But how to begin? Hello? How are you? Your standing non my towel? Definantly not the last one.
Another try then. "Rrrr.. trrr....w...." He growled in frustration and with a show of strength pointed to tip of his weapon at her. He held it steady without the faintest tremble, an incredilous display. He paused and tried again. "Wh.. teh... ahh....rrr... ee..oo..." It almost sounded like he was trying to ask what the wolf was. He repeated the question. Then he gave a satisfied grunt and dropped the tip to the sand awaiting her answer. If indeed she even could answer. Perhaps she could clarify his own confusions. "Prrr...eh.... ey....?" Prey?

If wishes were horses The beast continued to try and speak his frustration clear.
When he pointed his weapon at her, she could see how strong he really was, despite his clumsiness on the uneven terrain of sand. She paused. Well…he showed his strength, why not show hers? Plus, in her true form she could speak. She wouldn’t need her frail human form to do so.
Again she transformed. Ears hardened into curved horns, her tail twisting and lengthening into the a more whip-like shape, the tip becoming barbed with sharp spikes as rusty red runes bloomed over her raven-black fur, spreading down her legs and up her muzzle. Her size increased until she was two times as large as a horse. When her change was complete, the gigantic wolf sank to the sand on her belly so that her red gaze became level with the beasts before her. She knew what he was trying to ask, but would he understand what she was if she told him? Well, he was asking. So she might as well tell him.
Blinking slowly, she opened her maw to speak, her voice low and dark, sending a rumble through the air as she replied, “Demon.”

Pyramid Head paused in momemtary surprise. So the wolf... demon... spoke. Demon. Interesting. Alessa had been accused of being one. The word made him snort loudly. It almost seemed to be mocking. The word seemed a foolish one to him. A creation of fools. Alessa had told him once the cultists had been the true demons. Yet their leader had been like himself. Did that make him a demon? But this thing before him claiming to be a demom was not like him. Or was it?
The last thing he had encountered like him he had killed mercillessly. Somehow he did not think the same course of action applied here.
"D... eeeee.....mah....ooon...." He tested the word on cracked lips. The more he spoke the clearer his voice became, revealing an underlay of surprisingly pleasing tenors. He motioned to himself."Geh...a...rrrr...." He growled. Guardian was a difficult one. What was something else Alessa called him?
"Pah.. Prrrr...teh....kt....ore...Pro...tec....tor...Ah...leh....ssss....ah..." Protector. Alessa. He then guestured to their surroundings. "Cah..n.. chhhh...ange..Whrr....Ah..less...ah? Whrr... ch....uuuurrrr....ch?" Can change. He could change his surroundings. Where Alessa? Where church? He was lost.
He turned to the demon again and pointed the blade again with a more insisstent question. "Prr...eh? Prey? Not....prrrey?" Something darted out from under his helm. Long and thin like a snake with a sharp tip the tendrip like thing reached to the demon, the tip meaning to lightly flick against her cheek before receding. No she definatly did not taste edible. If she was prey she was not the edible kind. "Not....tasssste...prey..."

If wishes were horses The more he spoke, the easier it became to understand him. She listened, head cocking to the side as she blinked at him. He motioned to himself and growled slightly before managing to get out a few words.
Protector of Alessa?
Unfortunately, she didn’t know who Alessa was. And it was clear now that her words could be understood, so she spoke more, shaking her head. “I do not know of these things. This is my home. My territory. I rarely venture beyond it.” though she had been to Hallowton, but merely once. She didn’t think she had any reason to go back again. Another question was hissed at her, the beast raising his blade to point at her. Suddenly, what appeared to be a snake-like tongue darted out and ran along the side of her face. She pulled back, red eyes narrowing, for she disliked being touched without permission in any way shape or form. That question hissed out at her, more insistent.
“No,” she stated, shifting back into her human form. She was burning too much energy staying in demon form. Her red eyes faded to gold, black fur leaving behind pale skin on a human frame, her coal-colored hair spilling over her shoulders. She swept it back. “I am not prey. I am a predator.”

Pyramid Head snorted at her reaction then began to drag his blade to rest in the sand behind him. Not prey. What did he do with something likke this? His free hand raised and rested on a knob on the side of his helm. As he turned the thing gave a sickening crack like bone. He gave a sigh and dropped his hand. This thing could not help him find Alessa.
He paused and seemed to stare at the changer. Or more rather her hair. He had seen that on prey but she was not prey and he rarely saw it so long. He tilted his helm curiously then slowly moved closer and reached out to pick up a strand of her hair and marvel at it. Much softer then any he had ripped from his preys heads. Theirs was the texture of straw.

If wishes were horses Because she was half demon, her hair was unlike human hair. Not to mention it reached her ankles. The dark locks seemed to attract the attention of the one before her, for he moved closer, one hand reaching out to grasp a strand of her hair.
He was insistent on touching, wasn’t he?
She knew he had noticed her distaste for being touched; but apparently, he was going to ignore that fact. Pinning her wolf ears back against her dark hair, she took on step back and to the side so that her hair slipped free from his hands, her body language still what she heavily relied on. She was never much of a talker. Being part wolf demon, her stances and movements usually seemed off when she was in human form, for she tended to continue to move in a canine-like manner. Knees bent slightly, she gazed at him with a scowl clear on her expression, her tail sweeping the ground in a somewhat annoyed manner, though she did not speak.

The tetrahedral formation sitting upon his shoulders tilted in an odd angle, allowing the wight to briefly loose upon his well toned shoulder. A deep echoing sound bounced within the chamber, and it took a moment of thought before it became a recognizable note.
The beast... was laughing?
