The alarm clock blared.
BLEEP! BLEEP! BLEEP! BLEEP! BLEEP! BLEEP! BLE-
He slapped it, half asleep still. The bed sheets were heaven on Genesis, warm and inviting yet so very, very heavy. It took effort beyond comprehension to move them, the kind of effort it takes anyone to get up in the morning when they were still tired. He scratched his face, stubble itching. Mornings...
Lucifer walked out to the kitchen, he had a small apartment, wood floors and light blue walls. He liked the windows, he liked his study, and he liked his bedroom... The deck had several pots of dirt and a long planter where he was growing some flowers, he wanted to grow grapes and strawberries but it wasn't feasible for a second story apartment deck and a few pots of dirt and a planter. There was, however, coffee. "C'fee..." the word came out like a dry cough, and that foul taste in his mouth... the taste of sleeping with your mouth open... He scooped two spoonfuls of sugar into a cup and started to pour the fresh coffee, black and steaming.
Satan had found pants. The coffee worked miracles in a manner of speaking, he was awake and capable. It was always hard, choosing a shirt. Go with the black button-up or the dark red dress shirt? After some time thinking about it he went with the dress shirt. He could wear a jacket overtop it if he needed to or just wear it with the sleeves rolled up and the top two buttons undone. There was a new stack of forms in his office, they appear overnight in a puff of sulphurous smoke. "no... not yet." He had decided to head out first. As he passed the door he looked at the small clay pot by his shoes. There were two umbrellas, a walking stick, and a rusty short-handled pitchfork in it. He picked up a toque and put it on, then headed out and went down towards the shops.
"Well you can tell by the way I use my walk, I'm a woman's man: No time for talk! Music loud and women warm, been kicked around since I've been born!" Lucifer walked down the street, singing along with Staying Alive by the Bee Gees on a discman in his pocket, dancing slightly and attracting a few odd stares as he walked down the street of moon valley.

Humans could be so odd sometimes. She found it amusing that the smallest and most simplistic of things could make them happy. The crowd that had gathered around her she easily kept mesmerized by the flickering, twisting flame that danced in her hands. They thought it to be a "magic trick" and that suited her just fine. People were tossing her money, and that was exactly what she needed.
Hunger was never a wolf's friend.
Lifting her arms as she twirled a little, the flame splitting to flutter in each hand, she seemed to almost be dancing, her flowing, black gypsy-like dress rustling against her long legs. Midnight hair, the color of ravens wings flowed about her pale face, and golden eyes shimmered under the morning sun. She smiled to the crowed and sparks of electricity sprung to fold around the fire in her hands as they came together as one flame. The blaze grew as the lightning crackled around it, swirling as bright as a lamppost light before bursting into a flurry of red and orange sparks.
The crowd applauded as she curtsied, sending out as sweet a smile as she could put on.

Lucifer stopped and looked, eyebrow raising. She made magic look like an illusionist's trick, classy! It was earning this interesting girl some money too, people were throwing her coins and applauding as she smiled. He stopped to applaud to, watching this woman as she soaked up the applause. "Now that's neat." He sounded enthused and excited, but could see right through the trick. It was magical fire, not like the empyrean balefires he got from the office, but she was magic and there was more to her than met the eye. He stood there for a moment, joining the crowd and taking off his head-phones, watching the woman with a slight smile, wanting to see what else she'd do.
Moon Valley was quiet, quaint, and this was out of the ordinary. Not street performers but REAL ones, ones who used real magic. He cupped his hands over his mouth and raised his voice so she could hear. "Encore! Encore!" This would be interesting, what would her encore be? What would the second act entail?

The crowed was just beginning to break up when someone shouted over the noise, “Encore!” and the raven-haired girl paused, golden eyes flashing as she caught the person’s scent. They were not human. Beneath her cap, her wolf ears twitched. He called for an encore, did he? Raising her arms to quiet the chattering crowd, she called out, “For my last trick, I will make a wolf appear in my place and I bid you all a good day!” she grinned widely, and suddenly, there was a wolf where she had stood. Just as she said there would be.
To the human eye, she had vanished and a wolf had appeared, but to those others, a change had taken place. Midnight fur had swept across her pale skin, her bones crackling as they shifted and twisted into the form of a canine, golden eyes bleeding crimson. The crowd gasped in shock when they saw the wolf, and then broke out into another round of applause as she scooped up the cloak full of coins in her jaws and darted away down a side street. Quickly, talk of wanting to see the “wolf girl” again spread through the people as they parted way and continued about their day. Half-way across the town, the girl-turned wolf came to a stop and scratched behind an ear before shifting back and tying the cloak shut, not caring that her wolf tail and ears now showed, for there were no citizens about in the area.

the change seemed almost slow motion for him, watching how the girl vanished in almost a ripple of fur and flesh. Satan nodded slowly at this, subtle and looking almost like a surprised twitch or small jump to normal people. As the wolf-woman vanished and the crowd clapped Lucifer clapped as well and smiled, he was impressed but concerned. He came here because he had paperwork to do, layers upon layers of it, and everywhere else on this continent was a ghastly mess. There were holy wars, rampant acts of divine or arcane power, and never-ending moronic actions that clutter up the paperwork.
"Well, off to the shops." The crowd dispersed, slowly at first as people still talked of the show, then more quickly as the rigmarole of their daily routines took hold once more. Among them, Lucifer walked a short while longer before heading into a corner store, getting himself some chips, a new carton of milk, and a chocolate bar. He needed the milk but decided to treat himself a bit.. That wolf-girl kept niggling in his mind, though. Why was she here? Same reason he was?

Well, she had enough to get something to eat at least. She was starved. And she didn’t think the humans would appreciate her hunting one of them down for lunch.
Pulling the cloak around herself and placing her cap back on her head, she headed down the street to the nearest shop. Entering the door, she went straight to the food section and grabbed a few things. So focused on getting something to eat, was she, that she didn’t even notice that the same man from before was in that very same shop.
Not until she reached the register.
His scent reached her and her shoulders tensed slightly in surprise. Why was it that she had ended up in the same vicinity as him again? Grumbling to herself, she paid for the food and quickly turned toward the door, keeping her head ducked in hopes of going by unseen.

Lucifer walked into the shop, grabbing a pack of Jaffa Cakes. It was brilliant, Jaffas existed even in this reality. It was one of the few comforts that kept him going when the first shift happened. It was nightmarish, reality vanishing and reforming somewhere else. The experience extended beyond the whole "just teleporting around" sort of thing people can do. The feeling of something truly foreign, truly alien, invading every possible sense all at once... It was best not to think about it. Satan grabbed some pancake mix, a jug of milk, and some beef jerky. Not really substantial but he had paperwork to do and could get a proper dinner later.
Then he saw her at the register. She had put on a robe and cap, looking rather out of place in the pseudo-modern Moon Valley, but also giving off that tingle of real magic even now. "G'Morning!" He spoke rather cheerfully, though there was an edge of tension in his voice. Was it coincidence that she went to the same shop as him? Was there a higher power involved here? "I saw your show before, very impressive. I think the intricacies were lost on the locals..." She had turned and started quickly walking for the door as Lucifer took out a handful of bills and coins, dropping them onto the counter. He shouted to her as he counted them, hoping to catch her before she left.
"Those intricacies can be dangerous here! People sometimes don't appreciate a good show." He let his voice remain calm, his own niggling doubts and growing concerns starting to gnaw at him. "Care for some pancakes?"

She was almost out the door when the word "pancakes" reached her ears. She paused, wolf ears twitching under her cap. Dammit, he just had to offer a wolf food, didn’t he? Turning slightly, she kept her hand on the door as she glanced over her shoulder at him and tilted her head, golden gaze cautious. He wasn’t human, that much was clear. If a human had offered her food, she’d have thought nothing of it. Humans couldn’t tell that she was different. However, this one…was not human. She couldn’t tell if his offer was just that; an offer. Or if there was something else behind it.
Bringing a hand up to tuck a lock of midnight hair behind her ear she replied so that he could hear her, “You don’t know me, but you still offer?”
