The Ascarian full moon had just peaked in the black inky sky when I entered the wolf bar. I don’t mean wolf literally. When I say wolf, I mean werewolf. Yes, the shapeshifters that become the howling animals of the forests. I looked around quickly, noting that the bartender had a 12-gauge behind the standing bar and the female directly in front of me was in heat. How did I know this? Well, I’ll give you a hint. A very obvious hint. I turn furry when I want. Yep, I’m a wolf. What gave it away?
I strode immediately to the round table in the back of the building and gracefully sat in the high backed chair. I closed my eyes and relaxed, raising a slender hand for a barmaid to come get my order. As usual, I was immediately serviced. I opened my eyes and noticed the female taking my order was no older than 19 and walked clumsily, which meant she was human. Paws Off, as far as I had known, had been a strict ‘wolf only’ employ. I guess the Awakening for the humans meant that they had to open up jobs. I had no problem with it. I immediately spoke. “How long have you worked here, girl?” I said with a neutral voice. The girl and her chocolate eyes looked surprised that I asked anything. “I-I’ve worked a few weeks, ma’am. Can I get your order?”
“Yeah. I’d like one of Kevin’s burgers and a Parrot Bay. Pineapple coconut, if you can get it. Thank you,” I answered. I looked around once more and took note of the slowly rising tension. I set my elbows on the table and rested my chin on my folded hands, searching for the source. My blue eyes set on a male not even 5 feet away from me. His muscular, yet slender, body was wired. His muscles were tense, waiting for anything to happen. Looking closely I saw his hair was standing on end. Oh well. I’m here for fun. I’ll just watch the show. I tapped one blue painted fingernail on the wooden table to the same beat as my boot covered foot. The bar was playing the local radio channel, The VFC, Very Furry Channel. Currently, the song was Atreyu’s “Falling Down”. All around there was noise and clatter. I could tell something big was going to happen. The barmaid that took my order came by with my food and set it in front of me. She began to turn away when I grabbed her wrist. “What is your name, girl?”
“It’s Alycia,” she answered. She pulled away and walked briskly away. The first thing I did was pop open the Parrot Bay and take a long drag of the liquid. Ah…the smoothness…then someone screamed and a hand flew into my bottle, knocking it from my grasp. I sighed and looked towards the male that had been so tense not five minutes earlier. One hand was stuck in the in-between of human and wolf. Oh yeah, I forgot. It was the full moon. Silly me. I got up from my seat and stood my entire five foot eight inches and stretched. My denim jeans clung to my legs and my cropped halter showed an inch of my flat, tanned belly. As I let my arms fall from the ceiling, my blonde hair fell forward into my eyes. Damn bangs…I strode over to the new wolf and grabbed his claw arm. As a response, he turned and growled at me with his muzzle. Wonderful. The boy was changing quicker than I thought. As soon as I had grabbed him, I knew who his alpha was. “Someone phone Nicholas!” I yelled. I turned to the boy and asked his name next. Through many grunts and snarls, he said his name was Eric. “Now everyone needs to back away!” I looked straight into Eric’s green ones and I spoke, letting my inner power flow through me.
“Eric…brother wolf and pack member of Nicholas, eighth great Alpha of the North Domingo pack…I bid you to see into me.” At this point I could tell my eyes had gone icy blue, glowing with power. “You shall change only in the forests, never in a public place. Am I clear? Give me your rage, control yourself and leave this place. Now.” As I completed the words, I felt the rage inside him leave and enter me. It took over like a storming ocean, and it left me breathless. My vision gained a red haze and my heart began to race. Not good...
----The above is something that I relocated. I'm thinking about going further with this, but just wondered what everyone thought.
