The Dread Lord
"you are an insect... facing a god!"
Age: Unknown, somewhere in the billions
Gender: Male
Species: Faltine
Alignment: Evil
Canon or Original: Canon
Date of Birth: Unknown
Place of Birth: Unknown
Physical Appearance: The Dread Lord is an intimidating sight. He towers over most humans and wears dark, bulky armor. What's within the armor is the most frightening aspect of Dormammu's appearance - his body is constructed entirely of the mystical Flames of the Faltine, though the only visible part is his head. Within his head's flames, one can almost make out what appears to be something that.... used to be a human-like head. However, it appears as though it's been all burned away, leaving a charred skull instead.
Special Abilities:
- Sorcery: Dormammu was among the most powerful beings of his own world, being rated along gods and entities such as Odin and Galactus. All of this was because of his sheer power as a sorcerer, a wielder of the mystic arts. It is clear from this that he is an incredibly skilled sorcerer as well as one who should not be trifled with unless one is fully prepared to face the Dread Lord. Among his many abilities he's gained from sorcery are...
- Energy Blasts: The ability to fire blasts of pure energy from his hands. These blasts are said to have enough power to destroy a planet, though it generally drains his power to throw planet-destroying blasts all the time. The most common state of these beams can easily destroy humans, but they are commonly blocked by the magical shields of Doctor Strange or other sorcerers. He is also able to form energy shields of his own.
- Astal Projection: The ability to separate oneself from their body and turn into an ethereal form that can travel long distances his mere seconds. An astral form cannot be hurt, but it cannot hurt others as a result. An astral form can also turn completely invisible, which is best for sneaking around places. Dormammu tends to not use this ability so often, seeing as he isn't one for stealth.
- Elemental Control: Looking at Dormammu should give you knowlege enough to understand that he controls fire. But, more on his fire later. The other elements are also under his control, those elements being water, earth and air. For instance, creating a massive tidal wave, a powerful earthquake or hurricane-force winds seems to be absolutely nothing for the Dread Lord.
- Flight: Dormammu is able to fly at high speeds, which are surely fast enough to carry him long distances in short times. Other than that, this ability is not particularly special.
- Matter Transmutation: By touching an object and willing it to change, Dormammu is able to change the shape of any object he wishes. The limit of this is.... unknown, if there is any limit at all. He's been shown transforming small pebbles into swords and generally using this ability to it's fullest. However, he cannot use this ability to transform anything magical for whatever reason.
- Shapeshifting: Dormammu is able to alter his characteristics, such as height. Many a time has he used this to make himself a gigantic monster, making him much harder to fight. It is assumed he is able to give himself human or animal form, but he doesn't seem to do so too much.
- Conjuring: Dormammu can conjure any object he wishes from thin air, be it a weapon or a throne. This comes in handy by allowing Dormammu to have whatever he wishes at any given moment. Many a time has he used this to summon some mystical artifact or a person to another dimension.
- Super Strength: Dormammu is immensely strong, easily strong enough to lift a human into the air with one hand and throw them a few miles. In combat, he seems to use this to physically overpower opponents who are able to get past his magic. The measure of Dormammu's strength is unknown and it is assumed that Dormammu is able to alter his strength with his magic, making it literally incalculable.
- Teleportation: Yes, Dormammu can teleport. There is honestly nothing else special about this ability, other than that he can go literally anywhere without tiring himself.
- Super Durability: It is nigh-impossible to hurt Dormammu with mere physical attacks. Due to his body being made out of flames, regular ol' steel and other such things just aren't going to do the trick. Even blessed weapons won't do the trick, since the Faltine race is not an unholy one. However, using enchanted weapons will get the job done a little bit better, as will magical attacks.
- Flames of the Faltine: Dormammu's main ability is his control over the Flames of the Faltine. These Flames burn longer than normal flames and are said to burn the very soul of their target. Dormammu is actually constructed of these flames and uses that to his advantage constantly. It seems as though he's able to create meteor-sized bursts of these flames and create a flaming hole in the ground which shoots a fountain of lava, as well as many other attacks.

History: Dormammu was created billions of years ago by the being known as Sinifer. He and his sister, Umar, destroyed Sinifer later on. The two then went on to try to conquer any universe they found and eventually discovered the Dark Dimension, which the ceased hold over. Dormammu's rule was cruel and he was hated by the people, though they were not powerful enough to overthrow him. After trying to conquer Earth, he was banished by the Ancient One, Earth's current Sorcerer Supreme. Dormammu would occasionally reach through the barrier and influence the actions of humans, which is the reason Jack the Ripper existed.
Much later, Dormammu found a way to get through to the human world. However, he found himself opposed by a man named Doctor Strange; a man who stopped his actions and, by making Dormammu owe him a favor, stopped Dormammu from ever going to Earth. This enraged Dormammu whose hatred for Doctor Strange did nothing but grow and he planned a way to defeat Strange. He found a way in the form of the Ancient One's former student Baron Mordo, who was also Doctor Strange's enemy. Dormammu granted Mordo his powers and his army, which made Mordo powerful enough to defeat Strange. However, Strange eventually defeated Mordo and defeated Dormammu afterwards.
Dormammu would later find a way around his banishment from Earth and try to invade it many times, each time being stopped by Doctor Strange. His hatred for the Sorcerer Supreme did nothing but grow as their rivalry continued. Dormammu would use Baron Mordo again many times as well.
