Age: 44
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Canon or Original: Canon
Date of Birth: Unknown
Place of Birth: Varf Mandra, Transylvania
Physical Appearance: Baron Mordo is a tall man with short black hair and a goatee-style beard and mustache. His eyes are a dark, dull brown. He wears a strange green and black garment, which has some yellow designs on it. The outfit also has a large, green cape.
Special Abilities:
- Sorcery: Baron Mordo was among the most powerful human sorcerer's of his world, second only to Doctor Strange actually. This means that Mordo has the ability to manipulate the magical energy of the world for a variety of purposes, including...
- Energy Manipulation: Whether it's to throw a blast of powerful mystic energy or to create a large shield, Mordo can manipulate some bizarre form of energy to whatever purpose he needs, be it throwing bolts or creating a large energy construct. His bolts are not as powerful as those of Doctor Strange, but they are still able to destroy normal humans in one blow if he makes them powerful enough.
- Telepathy: The art of projecting his thoughts into others' minds and reading others' thoughts. Mordo seems to be able to do this on a multi-planetary, possibly even multi-dimensional scale as he was able to communicate telepathically with Dormammu when the Dread Lord was locked in the Dark Dimension.
- Telekinesis: Lifting things and throwing them with magic. This seems to have no limit whatsoever, which allows Mordo to lift things of massive weight, even things that weigh more than one hundred tons. Being a tad more destructive than his enemy Doctor Strange, Mordo tends to use this to destroy buildings and fling things at people.
- Teleportation: Mordo seems to be able to teleport himself wherever he wants, even across dimensions in some cases.
- Illusions: The casting of illusions is common for Mordo, who often needs some trickery to defeat his rival Doctor Strange. His illusions can appear to be whatever Mordo wishes. A common tactic when using the illusions is creating multiple versions of himself and having them all run in different directions.
- Conjuring: Mordo can conjure whatever he wants to his hand, be it a sword or a book. This ability's only limit is that Mordo cannot conjure items of great power, such as the Silver Surfer's Power Cosmic or Thor's hammer, Mjolnir. Other than that, though, Mordo can conjure anything he desires.
- Astral Projection: The separation of one's body into an astral form. Like most powerful sorcerer's of his world, Mordo can do this with ease, normally to sneak around places and spy on people to get information.
- Divine Sources: Mordo has the ability to call upon many omnipotent deities to make his spells more powerful or do something he wishes to be done. For instance if he shouts "Bolts of Balthakk!" his mystical energy bolts will be given more power as he called upon the deity Balthakk to give them more power. He's also displayed the ability to shout something like "By the omnipotent Oshtur, may these chains break!" and whatever chains he's talking about will break.
- Necromancy: After reading many books on the subject, Mordo has become an expert in Necromancy - the art of raising the dead and making them his servants. With this power he could theoretically raise entire armies of zombies and undead servants to do his will, making him a much deadlier foe than he was before obtaining this ability.
- Combat Skill: After training with the Ancient One, Mordo has become an expert combatant. He's been trained in many a martial art and has shown enough skill to be able to match Doctor Strange, who is also trained in martial arts, in a purely physical fight.
Weapons:
- Book of Cagliostro: One of the many books of Necromancy spells Mordo uses. While he no longer needs the book to perform Necromancy, it is useful to have as it contains many a horrific spell for raising the dead...
History: Baron Mordo's interest in the occult stemmed from his grandfather, who was skilled in magic. He even taught the young Mordo a few spells. However, his grandfather died of old age, leaving Mordo wanting more power. After remembering his grandfather telling him of the Ancient One, a powerful sorcerer in Tibet, Mordo travelled to seek the Ancient One's council.
However, the Ancient One saw that Mordo had only gone to him for power instead of wisdom. The Ancient One decided to teach him anyway, believing that even one so consumed by power as Mordo could change. But, he didn't, as proven when the temple was visited by a man named Stephen Strange. During this time, Mordo was planning to kill the Ancient One and become the most powerful sorcerer ever.
Stephen put a stop to this plan and the Ancient One banished Mordo. This began a long rivalry between Doctor Strange and Baron Mordo, which lead to many fights between the two. Mordo was once used as a pawn by Dormammu in an attempt to kill Doctor Strange, but it didn't work. Afterwards, Mordo continued to work on his own against Strange as well as occasionally teaming up with another enemy of Doctor Strange's, such as Dormammu.
