Date of Birth: Unknown
Place of Birth: London
Physical Appearance:
Personallity: A student of the Royal College, she is an exceptionally intelligent, logical girl who refuses romantic notions. She always treats others with warmth and respect, taking pity on orphans and speaking to servants on an equal level. While other girls pursue gossip of gruesome murders, she avoids such grim talk, as it easily frightens and disturbs her, often plagued by sudden, nightmarish visions.
Special Abilities: **All of her powers based on others will be approved by those I RP with prior to the events.**
~-Verin Sol-~
Mary's right eye has the ability to see the truth of the present, and the secrets of the past. Meaning, if someone were in a disguise to decieve eyes, she would be able to see through it. She can also see one's true form after gazing upon them for a few seconds. As for the secrets of the past, if Mary reads any historical literature or scripture, she has able to learn the visual language rather quickly. It also helps if she knows the verbal language.
The most powerful ability of Mary's Verin Sol, is that it is an "evil eye". Depending on the opponent, it has one of three effects. The first being the weakest, third being the strongest.
• The victim will be forced to see whatever Mary desires them to see for roughly 10 seconds. *Depending on the RPer, one to two paragraphs at the end of their post.*
• The victim of this curse is rendered unable to move for 10-20 seconds. *Depending on RPer, one to two paragraphs at the end of their post*
• Finally, Mary's Verin Sol can afflict a weaker victim with either of the first abilities, and they will be cursed for a period of time. Ill will, malice, scorn, angst, any combination of any negative emotion will fill the victim's mind. What happens to them is the will and judgement of those around this victim. *Will be used only on NPCs not owned by any RPer*
Weapons:
History: Everyone thinks of Victorian London as a place of pomp and glamor, tea and fine dining, romantic balls and forbidden rendezvous. Soft-spoken women in gorgeous dresses tread along foggy streets, dashing gentlemen engage in deadly duels of chance.
This is not that London. Here, the grime of corruption is just barely tucked behind corset strings and swept under the carpets. Steam has become the crux upon which all technology is hinged on, but these new steam-based inventions come at the price of polluted skies and sickly citizens. Within this darkened city, Mary Clarissa lives in modest happiness, attending classes by day with her childhood friend Charlotte, retiring to her humble home in the evening―but her peaceful days are shaken by disturbing dreams of carnage, isolation, and darkness. Her nightmares become reality when Charlotte begins acting suspiciously, and Mary encounters a monstrous creature she barely manages to escape from. The next morning, she wakes up in her bed, assuming the evening before was simply a nightmare, only to be informed her dear friend has fallen into an unbreakable sleep, with no discernable cause. Days, then weeks pass, and Mary is determined to scour all of London and beyond in order to find her a cure.
Soon, she comes to learn of the black city Sharnoth and the ≪Metacreatures≫ that dwell there are much more than mere rumors, intent on devouring her golden right eye. In desperation, she swears loyalty to the mysterious M, a member of an underground criminal organization simply known as the ≪Society≫. Her task is to lure the monsters to him, using a rapier he gaver to defend herself, and he will eliminate them in return. If she obeys his demands, then he promises Charlotte will awaken.
It had been a long six months. Mary is now mentally exhausted. M has used her in every way he saw fit as bait for the ≪Metacreatures≫ . She was tired of this. She had come to the conclusion that M would not keep his end of the bargain. After all, he was part of the ≪Society≫. She decided that this would be the end of it. She was going to save Charlotte herself. She didn't know how, but her heart wouldn't let her turn back.
That night, Mary wrote a letter saying she was going to find a way to make Charlotte better. She didn't know who would find the letter in her room, but she knew it would find it's way to Angelica, another one of her best friends. With this, Mary left the following morning before even the birds knew it was "daytime".
Mary didn't know what the "sun" was, or what "daylight" was either. Her entire life has been in this smog ridden London. Smoke, fumes, and soot from the Engines coated the air. Upon looking in the sky, you couldn't tell the difference between smog and clouds. The only colors that existed in this city was grey and black. Even with all of this, Mary loved this city. It was where she spent her whole life, this is where she has her friends. It was hard for her to leave.
Yet, Mary's travels didn't take her far. She was still within London's smog caked sky when she found herself pray to some type of monster. She had been in a horse drawn carriage on her way to a neighboring country when a monster attacked. This creature killed the horses and the driver of her carriage, and went for her next. She isn't a great fighter. She knew that. The only thing she has ever done is run, leading the ≪Metacreatures≫ to M. However, her hand hand mindlessly wandered the the rectangular suitace she had with her that housed the weapon M gave her.
Mary knew that she had to fight to survive. She was alone now. There was nobody for her to depend on. She had to fight. Clenching her teeth, she opened the suitcase and grabbed the rapier in it's scabbard. Before she drew the blade, she realized it was quiet. She was sure that was had just happened wasn't another terrible vision brought on by her eye. She shook that feeling from her head and listened. She waited for some sound. She didn't know what to expect, but she just wanted something to happen. She would soon regret that wish.
An echoing sound of metal grinding against metal rang throughout the air. Mary felt the entire world spin. She held on to the rapier with everything she had and felt pain on her back. Then there was nothing. Nothing but darkness. She knew the darkness, but not this one. This was different. It wasn't menacing. It was just pure darkness. Then, there was a voice. Or was it? It was definately reaching Mary's mind.
Don't give up. Keep going.
Who is it? Who's voice is this?
Yes... this much, should be enough.
There was some kind of sensation in Mary's right eye. Her cognizance slowly returned. She was on the brink of reality.
You never have been a fighter, so this power will help you. You're a good person. Don't let this change you.
This voice spoke to Mary as though it had known her for her entire life. But there was only one person who's been with her that long.
†Charlotte?!†
Mary somehow forced her voice through her throat. She wanted to know. Mary wanted to know if this voice was truly her best friend.
I will be waiting for you, Kitty.
†Don't.. call me... Kitty...†
((If need be, I can and will add more ^.^))
