Name: Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad
Aliases: Grand Master, Nahimana
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Species: Hybrid (Human-Eagle)
Alignment: Neutral
Canon or Original: Canon
Date of Birth: 1165
Place of Birth: Masyaf, Syria
Physical Appearance:
Special Abilities:
Physical: Altair has extensive training as an assassin, but even for a Master Assassin she is physically adept, fit and agile. This is partially from the eagle blood in her veins. Precision, agility, speed, and so forth are all enhanced beyond that of her fellow assassins. She can leap from rooftop to rooftop, clamber up the sides of buildings, and perform an incredible dive from extensive heights into a soft landing below called a leap of faith. (However Altair cannot swim)
Eagle Vision: A sort of 'sixth sense' where the users vision changes to reveal the intentions of those nearby.
Physical Eagle: The ability to shift the body's form into a secondary one, that of a same-sized eagle. This was done for the first time during the battle against Al Muslim.
Wings: Below Altaïr's skin on her back she possesses the large wings of an eagle, which, with some discomfort, she is able to free and hide on will. This is of course an uncomfortable transformation, not only to undergo but also no doubt to watch. The Physical Eagle form also has this limitation. In the back of her robes are hair thin slits to allow room for her wings to extend.
Weapons:
Longsword
Short Sword - Used when the longsword is less applicable to the situation, such as extremely close ranged fighting.
Throwing Knives (10)
Hidden Blade - The blade is the tool of every field assassin. A blade strapped to the wrist as a grieve, the metal is thin and sharp, perfect for a swift clean pierce to a vital. With the way the blade is crafte to extend, the wearer is required to sacrifice their ring finger. This serves a variety of purposes, the main two being physical and metaphorical. In a physical sense, the blade extends the hand in place of the finger (such as in the saying 'the blade is but an extension of your hand') and this is both smoother in use and better hidden. (Often a low profile assassination appears as a 'hug') In a metaphorical sense, the finger lost is represented as the one a wedding ring is worn upon. To lose this is in absolute dedication to the brotherhood, denouncing a complete devotion such as marriage for the rest of ones life-span.
Early Life
"When I was very young, I was foolish enough to believe our Creed would bring an end to all these conflicts."
- Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad
Altaïr was born in 1165 under the name of Nahimana, to an Arabic father and French mother. However she grew up without her mother, whom died during childbirth. This string of lost continued when her father, a Master Assassin, passed during the first seige of Masyaf. The man he died to protect, a family friend and fellow assassin, later committed suicide before an 11-year-old Altaïr. Orphaned, Altaïr faced the fate of many woman of her time, a future full of much abuse at the hand of men, as it was a time period where women were often looked down upon. Seeing this horrible future laid out before her, Altaïr was determined to change her fate.
The Path of an Assassin
(Malik Al-Sayf, best friend and left hand man, pun intended.)
Altaïr: "Safety and peace, Malik."
Malik: "Your presence here deprives me of both."
―Malik and Altaïr in Jerusalem

Seeing an opportunity formed in the pather her father once walked, she sought out the Grand Master of the Assassins Brotherhood, Al Mualim. However, though not directly stated in the creed (the basic rules followed diligently by the brotherhood) it was never heard of to train a woman assassin. Thus Al Mualim denied her desperate request. Still Altaïr was nothing if not determined. Day after day she returned to Al Mualim, and day after day he refused her. Still, her determination sparked interest in the Assassin. After much time (and many awakenings to the young woman by his bedside with a knife to his throat) he began to give her small tasks. Menial in their content, to her they were chances to prove her worth. Every task was completed with scrutinizing perfection. After many tasks Al Mualim finally decided to name Altaïr a novice.
There was still the unspoken rule, however. So it was decided between the two that Altaïr's gender would remain secret. Nahimana died, and the orphaned novice Altaïr was born. Years passed. As an assassin Altaïr grew like a weed. She was named the youngest Master Assassin in history at the age of 25, and in her path gained the friendship of Malik and Kadar Al-sayf. As her rank grew, however, so too did her arrogance...
The Temple of Solomon
Al Mualim: Remember, nothing is true...
Altaïr: And everything is permitted.
- Al Mualim and Altaïr
By this year of 1191, Altaïr was a Master Assassin. Through much effort and practice she had even fooled her friends as to her gender. Her voice was masked, she created bindings to hide her chest, and had even adjusted her clothing to illusion a more 'solid' shape. But for all her accomplishments she brought ruin by one grand failure.
As quite literally the best assassin under Al Mualim, Altaïr and her friends were chosen to partake in a very important mission. They were to retrieve an important object from the Temple of Solomon before the Templars could. However during the mission Altaïr's arrogance got in the way. Breaking all three of the tennants of the creed, she broke cover and attacked the Templar Robert de Sable. However she was thwarted and thrown from the room, seperated from the Al-sayf brothers, who were left to the hands of the enemy as Altaïr returned to Al Mualim empty-handed.
The failure cost her everything. Her friendship with Malik (who blamed Altaïr for his brothers death) and Kadar, her rank and almost her very life. But Al Muslim spared her and named her a novice once more. In order to restore her rank Al Mualim gave her the names of nine men who needed die. As each man fell to Altaïrs blade, they left within her a new lesson as well as strange words. It was not till she returned to Masyaf upon killing the last man that discovered it... The ugly truth...
The Truth
Malik: "I do not accept your apology."
Altaïr: "I understand."
Malik: "No, you don't. I do not accept your apology, because you are not the same man who went with me into Solomon's Temple."
-Altaïr and Malik

Al Mualim was like a father to her. But upon returning to Masyaf Altaïr learned he was also a traitor. The Apple of Eden (the object retrieved from Solomon's Temple) had twisted the masters mind. The Grand Master was, in fact, a templar and so too were the men Altaïr had been sent to assassinate. Upset at being nothing more than a pawn, and in need to stop her master from his evil deeds, Altaïr was forced to commit one more assassination.
The battle between the two was fierce. Al Mualim held the Apples power and could create illusions and strengthen his power. Within her last reserves of power Altaïr discovered a new ability to transform her body to an impressive sized eagle. Yet as she felled her foe, she found herself unable to destroy the Apple. It was at this point Malik returned to the fortress in time to discover his old friend was not just beyond human, but also a woman too! (Strangely enough it was the latter he found most shocking) But in her trials the their friendship had been restored. Thus Malik vowed to keep her secrets and became her right hand man (since he had no left heheh).
Since the Grand Master was dead, Altaïr was named to take Al Mualims place. For half a year Altaïr studied the Apple in the hopes of unlocking its secrets. But as the seasons passed finally Malik convinced her to destroy it. So Altaïr rode her best horse, Ibn Al-Badr (meaning Son of the Full Moon, Badr for short) far into the desert. There she made to slam the Apple beneath a large rock. At the last moment a blinding light whisked the pair away, far from the realm that was her home and to only Allah knows where...
