History: Mattie Rhodes was born and raised in Isafaro and the best friend of Roxanne Hart (Radiation Girl) through most of their childhood. As the leader and rebel of the two Mattie was always getting them into all kinds of trouble. The last one being at the abandoned nuclear reactor where an earthquake occurred leading to Roxanne's freak accident. Believing her childhood friend beyond saving she regrettably left the reactor with the others and became overwhelmed with guilt. Blaming herself for Roxanne's presumed death and not being able to sleep or eat until finding her alive at school the next day. Mattie showed to be relieved at the sight of her alive and begged her forgiveness. Roxanne lied to her and said she forgave her before exposing her to the radiation she was now infused with through a hug.
The next night the radiation started to take form inside Mattie, releasing a powerful atomic blast from her body which destroyed her home and killed her family. She was the only one left standing in the ruins to mourn for the others. To make matters worse Mattie would learn that her friend Ted was dead and Edward mutated into a lizard. It didn't take much guess work to know who was responsible for this sudden change and on that night a friendship was destroyed. Feeling betrayed, Mattie and Edward went after Roxanne only to be chased by Vulture's soldiers who they fended off and the skirmish spread to civilians spreading the radiation exposure to them. Mattie started calling herself “Biohazard” and Edward “Mr. Lizard” as the two descended into a life of crime the further they went into madness. Over time Mattie began to think herself superior to others and sets out to make a new master race empowered by radiation.
