Deedlit was startled by the sudden appearance of Helios but began to relax as it looked like she had finally found one of the elves who had retreated here after their home was attacked. Before she could say anything she grew silent from the sight of the burning reptilian eyes that the man possessed, standing there quietly as the man spoke and then disappeared. Deedlit didn't know who that man was but he was no elf, nor was he an enemy for he had just saved her life. Deciding to take his advice the High Elf made her way into the city in search for her people while the fighting was still going on.

Helios turned and looked back at the battle as he, with one last jump of magic, moved himself behind the defender’s lines. There was very little he could do to help the cities defenders any more than he had without getting the god focused on him again. He had caused serious damage to the god’s army on his own, a dragon always would no matter the weapons and magic. The question was the damage enough to make it better for the god to retreat.
But Helios himself really did have to retreat. But before he Went he began casting again, mostly Mass protection spells for the city defenders. The arcane spells began to flow from his lips as he drew the glowing symbols in the air, recasting his protections on the soldiers, and extending them to the tanks. First a stoneskin enchantment to make them resistant to blades, and then second he cast on them the same elemental resistance that he himself had used to avoid the devastating effects of the god’s attacks. Each one falling over the soldiers with runes over their body armor or the hard metal of the vehicles.
One last spell he would cast before he would retreat. Kneeling down Helios chanted much deeper sounding words as a magic circle appeared around him on the ground, the outer ring of which filled with runes as he chanted. After a minute the circle was full, and he let out the activating word of the spell. The ground just behind the fire began to rumble before spikes of stone erupted from the ground. Each one thick, and they made a line pointing into the burning flames. It would give the soldiers a chance to shoot the warriors before they got over the spikes, even if it wouldn't kill anyone that wasn't in the way when he cast it.
With that, Helios turned and moved away from the battle, leaving before the god could focus on him again. He could do no more than that, knowing the god could kill him if he really tried. Though as he left, he replaced the glasses on his nose, hiding his burning eyes with the magic of them. He was curious about that elf woman he had seen. She wasn't the first he had seen in the city, but she seemed the one that wasn't all that depressed. He had learned they had lost their city, but she didn't look like the others. He was curious about that. So he would go looking for her. He left the battle behind.
