Physical Appearance:
A description for Dante has to come in two forms. One would be for the human looking version of himself and the other would be the demon. In terms of general statistics he appears to be a younger, blonde haired but some describe it as gray.
He stands at six feet, four inches and weighs two hundred and twenty pounds. In terms of physical prowess Dante is muscular but lean. The human version of himself appears to be attractive and especially so with the female crowd. He takes pride in working out and especially so when it comes to the abdominal muscles. His eyes are an icey blue color. During his younger years shaving wasn't a problem but since he has gotten older Dante almost always carries a shadow from not shaving that often. He doesn't have tattoos or any kind of marking on his body. As for the devil side of him a more fearsome appearance is displayed.
The devil trigger, as it is called, has wings, grows two inches taller, shows off red skin, horns and appears to augment its body with Dante's current clothing. This beast of a halfling often shows an array of black electricity known as demon energy which will be visible almost all of the time. The voice of this creature appears to be a mixture of Dante's voice and a demon's. When it moves there appears to be a shadow of demon energy behind it to symbolize the speed in which is treks.
Special Abilities:
So, half demon and half an angel appears to be a strong opponent? Not so much to everyone but it isn't his race that is the issue. Dante's real strength comes from things that most humans could do if they had the level of training and skill that he possesses. Rarely does Dante ever really need the regenerating strength or the speed of a demon to win a battle. Most of the time its just over the top acrobatic moves and a strong will to win.
Agility is something that this man is known for. He can't just simply avoid a blow. No, he has to do something that would leave many speechless in order to prove that he is better than the opponent. His agile nature allows him to avoid danger sometimes and even clear obstacles. At times he will combine his agility with his weapon skills in order to fight more effectively.
Weapon skill is this man's bread and butter. He isn't trained to use every type of weapon imaginable and sometimes he screws up with the weapons he has. However, whenever he lays his hands on something that can be used as a weapon he can give someone the thought that he is well trained with that object. In truth, Dante has the "go-for-what-ya-know" type of mindset when it comes to weapons. It is noted that he is an exceptional marksman and even more so with pistols. In terms of swordsmanship he is excellent and is so even with the more difficult to handle blades.
Firing guns is another strength for him. Of course, many can shoot but few can claim to have the kind of skill Dante has. His weapons of choice are two pistols by the name of Ebony and Ivory. The fact that he can hit a difficult target isn't the amazing part of his shooting skills. The part that even some gun enthusiasts are amazed by is that he can hit targets even while performing difficult acrobatic maneuvers.
Demon powers with Dante can be kind of complicated. Some of his powers don't have an "off" switch while others can be summoned at will. The physical endurance and strength is something he can never get rid of. In fact, there were cases where he was shot in the head while unconscious and still didn't die. That doesn't mean he is impervious to damage. It just means he is very tough to kill.
One power that he can turn off and on is the devil trigger. This is Dante's ultimate ability. Basically he becomes his true self in that of a demon. The half angel side of him is what gives him his human form. He can only maintain his demon form for about five minutes. Any longer and his body will weaken from prolonged exposure outside of Hell which is why his human form is so important. While in this form he has wings but he doesn't actually fly. Dante just performs a really convincing form of gliding. The transformation also grants him double the amount of physical strength, speed, agility and even a healing factor. The more devil trigger abilities he uses the faster the form begins to weaken.
While some would see his devil trigger as an obvious advantage it does come with some inherit weaknesses. For example, the demon form is weak against anything a demon would be weak against. If Dante goes demon against a priest bearing a holy cross he may find the fight to be more difficult than he planned for it to be. Holy water is especially effective against him while in demon form and he cannot enter a holy place or any place for that matter without permission so long as he is in devil trigger form.
Like all demons or even half demons Dante has a particular weakness to electrocution. Even though in devil trigger form he can use dark lightning as a weapon he is not immune to a similar technique being used offensively against him.
Weapons:
Rebellion (Oversized broad sword)
Ebony and Ivory (SIG-Sauer M1911 pistols that are modified with customized rails, wooden pistol grips and targeting sights)
History:
There was once a great demon knight known as Sparda. This creature was the savior of mankind and the champion of the weak and defenseless. The knight fought against his own kind in order to preserve the human race. Love of humanity came in the form of defense and in the form of love. Eva, unknowing to Sparda to be an angel, shared a loving bond. These two also shared two children; Vergil and Dante. The brothers were twins with Vergil being older by seven minutes.
Growing up without a father around was difficult. Sparda was off fighting the demon hordes of the world while Eva spent most of her time raising young Dante and his brother. As a child Dante and Vergil would almost always have a fight to see who would take over their father's place. More times than not Vergil always bested his brother thus causing a rivalry. Their mother taught them the art of combat in order for them to protect themselves should they have a need to. Vergil caught on faster to Eva's teachings than Dante did.
Vergil always appeared to be virtuous than his brother. This was mostly because Dante was almost always angry for never seeing his father around and not as heavy into religion as his brother was. Because of this Dante was seen as the bad child. Schoolwork wasn't his thing and eating right definitely was not. All that Dante was interested in was learning more about his father. Eva never told either of them who their father really was. In fact she took every precaution so that neither of them would find out. That was why she home schooled them and forbade them from ever watching television.
Obviously, when a hero makes enemies those same enemies would come for loved ones. That is usually how the stories goes. This case was no different. Sparda's family were targeted by demons. Vergil and Dante survived the encounter but their mother did not. Eva lost her life protecting her precious sons. When Sparda learned of this he attempted to find his family. All that was left were his sons. Before he was slain Sparda erased both of their memories for their own protection and to prevent them from ever using their power for evil. The demon knight also left Vergil on the doorstep of a rich and powerful family to grant him the life of privilege. As for Dante, clearly, a more strict and controlled life was needed. That was why Sparda gave his more aggressive son to St. Lamia's orphanage which is a demon run orphanage but these demons were benevolent for the most part.
Dante's stay at the orphanage wasn't all sunshine and roses. Demons were demons no matter how good they were. This cult specialized in devil hunting. Dante learned new skills from the place that was supposed to be peaceful but was surprisingly adept at training youngsters to fight. Why would demons want to teach another person how to hunt their own kind? Well, if everyone thought demons were evil and only wanted to kill humans it would be only a matter of time before everybody started hunting demons. Therefore, if one were to eliminate the bad apples the bunch would not be spoiled. That was where young devil hunters in training like Dante came in.
As a young man Dante didn't take on the principles of the cult that he belonged to. Instead he preferred his own way of thinking and his own way of doing things. He made a promise on his dead mother's memory that he would hunt the demons that killed her. In the meantime any demon would do. What he didn't realize was that the cult that was supporting him, giving him weapons and even training were dabbling in the same demon power that he sought to destroy. Once he learned of this the son of Sparda went berserk on the clan. The same nun that took him in as a child died by Dante's blade once he was an adult. There was no pain felt, guilt or remorse. In so many ways did he try to be different from a demon and yet no matter how much he tried remnants of what he really was would always show.
For his crimes against Dante was eventually sought out by law enforcement. He gained the label of serial killer for various crimes that he committed. Dante still hunted the demon but many of those demons would assume human form once he killed them thus the illusion that he was murdering humans. Most of the world didn't know about demons being real and even if that knowledge existed many wouldn't believe that to be the case.
While Dante preferred the life of running from the law Vergil on the other hand led a much more virtuous life. At least, that was what was revealed on the service. With all his money, power and influence Vergil founded The Order. This Order would last for generations even into Dante's adulthood. Vergil sought out his brother in order to convince his twin that joining the Order would be the right way to go. Dante rejected the idea not even knowing who he really was. When Vergil told Dante of the true nature of himself there was confusion. Dante was fighting demons but was actually half of a demon himself.
For a long time Dante denied what he was. To him there was just no way he could be a demon because he always believed that most demons were evil and that he ones who raised him were no exception. He believed that the staff at St. Lamia were just raising him to get him bigger so that there would be more meat to eat once he had matured. Now that he was told that he was different Dante did't know what to think. It was a little strange how he managed to master so many different fighting styles so quickly, how he never got sick and how he could actually heal wounds in a matter of minutes. He figured all humans had the same capabilities that he had. After all, he was raised in an orphanage ran by demons. Normality was something he never really witnessed.
It was time for soul searching. Many nights were spent on the streets crying. Dante figured he could not be a demon since, from what he could tell, devils never cried. But then he knew the other side of the truth that he was choosing to ignore; he was only half of a devil. Now he realized he was the very same menace he set out to destroy. Dante went into a rage. He killed demons small and large; kind or evil. It didn't matter. They all got treated the same.
A peace was found within him once he realized that there were people who actually considered him to be a hero. The son of Sparda never thought of himself as the type to save those in need or be a beacon of hope in a dark world. Instead he always saw himself as what he was and that was an angry person looking for clarity. Now that he knew that he and his brother were both something other than human he did realize what that meant. At some point he would have to face off against his brother if he really wanted to rid the world of all demons.
The dream of irradiating the demon threat would have to be put on hold. Dante wouldn't complete his father's work due to him being randomly and suddenly teleported to another world. He wondered if one of his enemies did this to be rid of him. After all he certainly made his fair share of foes during his relatively young life.
