It has been nearly six months since Tori stepped foot on the small mountain town Moon Valley. Over five of the longest months of her life. The redhead was beginning to think that she would never see her home again. That she would have to adapt to living in Hallowton or Kari for the rest of her life. Nothing against those places but the old saying was true when it came to her, there was no place like home. A lot of the city laid in ruin thanks to the exploits of the army that had used it as a base, but there were still a few places left standing. A couple of shops and City Hall in particular. To her luck even the farm was still standing. While the adults went to discuss where to begin rebuilding at City Hall, Tori and her friends decided to take a look around at the business section that was torn and broken, the area where the first of many battles against the Netherrealm occurred.
“This place is a mess,” said Shinta.
“What were you expecting?” asked Lily.
“It's hard to believe this used to be such a peaceful place,” said Mary.
“War does terrible things to a community, supernatural or otherwise,” said Tori.
“I know it looks like shit but this place is in good shape, all things considered,” said Nex.
“Please don't use that word.”
“All right. What if I said fuck instead?”
Mary sighed.
“Knock it off, Nex.”
“But she started it!”
“I'm finishing it.”
“You never let me do anything!”
“Is this conversation really happening?” Lily asked Tori.
“Anything's possible with Nex.”
Tori and Lily shared a laugh while Nex pouted. The five continuing down the street remembering the good times they had here while trying to move away from the bad, but the bad would always remain. No matter how hard they tried to forget. And without it, they'd never be able to appreciate the good. The future of Moon Valley was roughly unknown but they were confident that together...
They could withstand any hardship. |

It has been so long since Kara had stepped foot in Moon Valley that it felt like a whole other life. After everything the ex Woman of Steel has gone through since coming back, wandering the desert, the caves, being a prisoner and barely managing to survive an encounter with The End. Being able to see Moon Valley again demon free was like a breath of fresh air. If she had to cope with being vulnerable for the rest of her life, then there were no where she'd rather be than right here in Moon Valley.
As Kara walked down the street of the old business district she suddenly came to a stop. Her eyes looking over to the one person who she also hasn't seen for a long time. Not since they last talked in Jherrazad before the battle there. And the others even longer. Tori, Shinta, Nex, Lily and Mary. The only one missing was June. Kara stood there, just looking over to Tori. Unable to move, to say anything. Too weak to even throw her arms over Tori and embrace her. So she just stood there, staring. Paralyzed by happiness. |

When Tori looked up from the ground she had to do a double take at what she saw. The others behind her coming to a halt at the sight of the blonde up ahead. They could hardly believe it. The same woman they knew that had been obliterated during the battle at Jherrazad was now standing across from them. Was it a mirage? A mere trick of the mind? They had all fell silent and knew not what to think. Tori felt herself moving forward, no longer thinking and allowing emotions to drive her. She didn't care if it turned out to be a mirage. It was worth the hardship of that realization if it meant she'd be throwing her arms around her best friend. And surely enough, that's exactly what happened as she hugged Kara and held her close once she reached her. Joining the blonde in crying tears of joy as there was no denying it now. Kara, the Woman of Steel, was alive. |

Kara felt Tori's arms wrap around her. Being bathed in her warmth as the rest of her friends gathered around her. Slowly bringing up her arms to touch Tori's sides, leaning into the redhead resting her eyes on Tori's shoulder. Crying onto it. Emotions running high throughout the both of them, making it hard to tell which one was more emotional. After a moment of weeping together Kara finally brought her face up from Tori's shoulder and looked into her emerald green eyes.
"Tori..."
It was all she could manage to get out but it was all she needed. A smile crossing her lips while staring deeply into Tori's eyes. It was all she ever needed. |

"Tori..."
“Kara... Words cannot describe how happy I am to see you. I thought I had loss you for good this time.”
“H-how is this even possible?”
“The same way it was possible last time, genius.”
“But... There was a body last time. Her body was obliterated.”
“Who cares? She's alive!”
Lily was the next person to hug Kara and after that they all got their share before pulling away and giving the blonde some room to breathe.
“Kara, if you don't mind talking about it. Could you tell us how you're... alive?” |

They wanted to know how. That was fair. Kara didn't fully understand it herself. She looked up to the sky, wondering if she was even allowed to speak it. The Creator had given her no indication that it was forbidden but at the same time, it didn't give her an indication saying it was allowed either. When she looked back down from the heavens and to them the former Woman of Steel parted her lips to utter one single word.
"Mercy."
Mercy was the only reason she was still standing here today. Nothing forced The Creator to keep her alive. To make a new body and soul for her to continue on this world after being destroyed by Ranko through the Arashi's infinite energy. And yet here she was, a shadow of her former self, broken and bare before her friends. There was no other words she could think of to describe it. Mercy had saved her.
"Please... I don't want to answer any questions. I just want to go home." |

“Mercy?”
Tori didn't understand and neither did the rest of their friends. But it appeared that Kara didn't want to talk about it and that much was confirmed as soon as the blonde spoke up again,
"Please... I don't want to answer any questions. I just want to go home."
“All right. You don't have to answer any questions. We'll take you home.”
Tori went over to Kara's side and the rest stayed away enough to give Kara breathing room as they escorted her down the road.
“I have to admit the timing is rather astounding. You come back to life at the exact same time the Netherrealm is defeated and Moon Valley is delivered back to us? It's a miracle.” |

Kara wrapped her arm around Tori's when she stood at her side and leaned against the taller girl as the group walked. Listening to her speak and turning her head up to her in surprise at what she heard.
"The Netherrealm has been defeated? How?"
Kara could tell that they had managed to drive them out of Moon Valley. That much was obvious but how on Genesis did they manage to beat them altogether? |

Tori offered Kara a soft smile as she took her arm and leaned against her while they walked. All too happy to lend an arm and shoulder to her friend who had cheated death twice now. Although Tori's mind will always be thinking it and coming up with several hypothesis to how this became possible, it would be her turn to answer some questions as the ex Woman of Steel had asked about the Netherrealm's most recent defeat.
"The Netherrealm has been defeated? How?"
“There was a big battle in Kari and the Netherrealm was forced back into a retreat. Everyone went up against them basically.”
“Not sure about everyone but pretty much everyone who survived the previous two battles, Kari, foreign helpers and aid that Hallowton sent through Hellsing and Constantine Harker.”
“Whatever happened caused the Netherrealm's destruction and as such their influence over the world died with it.”
“And now we can finally start over. Praise the Lord.”
“Right... Praise the Lord. Don't praise any of the people who risked their lives to save us.”
“I didn't mean it like that and you know it.”
“What did you mean it as?”
“Guys!”
Lily and Mary stopped going back and forth, Shinta kept walking minding his own business and Nex gave the two girls a 'Ooh you're in trouble' expression as Tori looked back at Kara.
“While we don't know the full details of what happened yet we know that the Netherrealm was forced into a retreat and their hold over our world were severed.” |

There was that word again. Hellsing. She had heard it used from another who helped her out of the desert only to fall into the hands of Maricul cultists. She didn't know who Constantine Harker was.
"I see... You guys didn't need me after all."
Replied Kara as they walked.

“Hey.”
Tori let go of Kara's arm and stepped out in front of her, both hands on her arms now as she looked her in the eyes. The other staying around the both of them as Tori spoke,
“Don't say that. We've definitely needed you.”
“Things haven't been the same without you.”
“You and June.”
“Your death shocked the world. It motivated the right people to make sure the Netherrealm didn't win.”
“Face it, you're one needed chick.” |

Kara came to a stop when Tori stepped out in front of her feeling her hands on her arms while looking up to stare into those emerald green eyes of hers, feeling enchanted as the redhead spoke. Breaking eye contact only for a moment to look to the others and then rested her eyes back onto Tori.
"Thank you- Wait, what happened to June?"

The gang went quiet, Tori's hands sliding off of Kari's arms and returning to her sides as everyone looked down to the ground. Tori and Shinta were perhaps hit the hardest but nobody was keeping score. They all cared about June and they were all hurt to hear what had become of her.
“You're not going to like it.”
“June was last spotted at the countryside between Isafaro and Kari up in the mountains. The village was later raided and many occupants were killed. Not many made it out.” |

Kara looked between Tori and Shinta and then to the rest of the group before back at Tori.
"Then she must be a hostage or brainwashed. We know June. We know she would never do something so horrible. We have to find her!"
