Alignment:Because the Grey's are such a mystery and because of the lack of human study of the species, they are many times thought to be Neutral Evil or just Lawful Evil. However, they are actually not bad at all, they have logical explanations that have been unheard for the things that they do.

History:
When Alien Grey's are born, they are treated with care just like a Human would from their mother. Where he comes from, parent hood is very similar. However, as he grew up he never had to go to school or anything like that. His species doesn't believe in school, as they actually believe in learning everything you know not only from actual experience but also from your family.
The Grey species is not based on individualization or being an individual entity. For entities maintaining a group mind set ( social memory complex ), individualization seems to cause a great deal of random energy loss. From childhood all the way to adult hood, he had to learn that. However, as he visited Earth every now and then..he was able to learn one thing that he's never known was possible. Even though Alien Grey's are usually a group mindset, he was able to use his own single mindset individually and use it well.
No, he isn't going against his racial traits and tradition, he just believed that he should be educated and experienced in both his usual group mindset but also experienced in individuality. He knew that if one day something drastic happened and he was all by himself, he would need to know how to be independent or he would die somewhere along the way.
He and the rest of his species traveled from planet to planet learning of civilizations and their lifestyles. His visits to Earth were the most memorable. He can't recall how many times he has had a Human being brought into his ship to be examined. They didn't do it to be curious or to be creeps, they did it for the sake of their race as well as the Human race. Humans tend to think sometimes that the Grey's are their enemies, but they are entirely wrong on that. They are actually trying to prepare Human's for what lays dangerously ahead. There are species out there that are hostile and malevolent and waiting for the right time to vaporize Planet Earth and the people on it. The Grey's have no problem with Human's. In fact, they think of the Human race as children. They believe that they are physically beautiful but young at the mind. They are some times believed to be the caretakers of Earth, but their doings sometimes are thought to be of evil acts..even though they are actually out to protect the young species.
Qui himself is a remarkable traveler, he has had plenty encounters with humans throughout his life. There were many that were scared for their lives of him, but there was a select few that were humbled to be in his presence. Qui knows his mission, and he knows it well. He needs to help the children species that is the entire Human race grow to an understanding that there is more to life than what meets the eye. Knowing what he must do, he traveled through a wormhole and into the current timeline, heading straight to nearest galaxies.
