History: Not much is known about Nick Fury's history. He was involved in the Cold War and later went on to co-found S.H.I.E.L.D. with Tony's father Howard Stark in the late 1980s. Into the 21st Century, Nick Fury began searching for a response team called “The Avengers” earth's mightiest heroes to combat the threats they wouldn't be capable of defending against alone. The fact that they were no longer alone in the universe became clear with Thor's battle against The Destroyer resulting in S.H.I.E.L.D. researching alien technology with the intent to make weapons to combat a potential alien invasion from hostiles in the future. These studies would end abruptly when Loki came to earth and took the Cosmic Cube for himself.
In response to Loki's arrival S.H.I.E.L.D. got Iron Man/Tony Stark, The Hulk/Bruce Banner, Steve Rogers/Captain America and eventually Loki's brother Thor with their agents Black Widow and Hawkeye to stop the alien invasion that came about by Loki opening up a portal. Fury refused to nuked the area when ordered to and the end of the conflict saw the Avengers on top and Loki returning to Asgard with his brother and the Cube. After the Avengers disbanded and went their separate ways Nick would be call back into action as the realities started merging. Sending his agents to investigate the abnormality and disappearances of Tony Stark and Bruce Banner. Keeping Steve Rogers under close surveillance until a dimensional rift opened up in front of them and dragged them all into the Genesis where they now hover above the continent of Elim.
