Name: Samus Aran
Aliases: Hunter, Sammy
Age: unknown
Gender: Female
Species: Mostly Human, but infused with Chozo and Metroid DNA as well as given cybernetic enhancements
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Canon or Original: Canon
Date of Birth: Cosmic Year ~2000
Place of Birth: K-2L Mining Colony
Physical Appearance:
Samus Aran stands 6 foot 3 inches, and weighs around 200 lbs.
Personality: When on the job, Samus Aran is cold, ruthless, and driven to complete her job. If you're in her way of her mission, then you're as good as dead to her, unless your survival is important in some way. If you're her ally, then seeing the familiar yellow and orange of her powersuit is a very comforting sight indeed. If you're her enemy, then you better start saying her prayers. She prefers to work alone and live alone, often avoiding areas with large populations whenever possible.
While she may seem to be a cold-hearted killer, Samus is courageous with a strong sense of justice. She believes in protecting those who are unable to protect themselves, and wont hesitate to throw herself in the way if it means saving the life of an innocent, no matter how seemingly insignificant they might be. Despite being a bounty hunter, she's still a hero, so she'll do the impossible in order to make sure the people she cares about are save.
Because of her past, Samus suffers from post-traumatic stress syndrome, and is awkward in social situations. Most of the time, she'll remain silent in conversation, watching things from afar. Because of the environment she grew up in, Samus has a very “alien” personality, and relates better with people from other planets than actual humans, and is actually uncomfortable around them.
Special Abilities: Samus is a super-human. Training with the Chozo and her DNA has made her faster, stronger, and more intelligent that your average person, to the point where she can run faster, jump higher, and survive falls that would kill anyone else. Also, the Chozo DNA has given her almost a “sixth-sense,” which allows her to see recently departed and “sense” things, especially things related to Phazon. Her Metroid DNA has given her the ability to locate, and leech (as long as she makes skin contact) the life-force of other organisms, though she does not require this ability in order to survive.
Weapons: Her chief Weapon is her powersuit, which is extremely useful in the fact that it can absorb foreign technologies and adapt them to work with the suit. Currently she has a variety of different weapons and upgrades, which are the following: Power Beam (long and charge), Spazer Beam, Wave Beam, Ice Beam, Plasma Beam, Dark Beam, Light Beam, Annihilator Beam, Nova Beam, Zero Laser, Missile, Ice Missile, Super Missile, Seeker Missile, Wavebuster, Ice Spreader, Darkburst, Sunburst, Sonic Boom, Bomb, Power Bomb, Boost Ball, Spider Ball, Varia Suit, Light Suit, Dark Suit, Gravity Suit, Grapple Beam, Screw Attack, and Jump Boots
History: Samus Aran was born on the small colony of K-2L, where she grew up with her parents, Virginia and Rodney Aran. When she was three years old, an ancient, hyper-intelligent race of bird-like humanoids known as the Chozo stopped by their colony for a short period of time. While the Chozo did nothing of significance on the planet and left quickly, their presence attracted the attention of a group of Space Pirates, which were a race of insect-like humanoids that acted much like their name. Led by a Space Dragon known as Ridley, these Space Pirates invaded the colony, slaughtering and devouring the inhabitants. Samus was only saved by pure luck and was missed by the Space Pirates, but the things she witnessed (including Ridley eating her parents) left deep, emotional scars. A short while after the incident, the Chozo returned, and found Samus. Feeling responsible for the fate of the residents of K-2L, they took Samus back to their world, Zebes, and raise her as one of their own.
It was quickly discovered that humans were much too frail for the harsh environment of Zebes, so in an attempt to save her, Samus was infused with Chozo DNA, giving her the super-human abilities she needed in order to survive. Under the guidance of Gray Voice, she was raised as a Chozo Warrior, destined to protect the peace of the galaxy from whatever threatened it. When she turned sixteen, she left her adoptive family and enlisted in the Galactic Federation marines, working under General Adam Malcovich. After an incident that resulted in the death of a friend, who was also Adam's younger brother, she left the Galactic Federation and disappeared, only to return some years later as an independent bounty hunter.
(thus begins the summary of all the games)
Samus is known for being the savior of the galaxy, and has done it several times. The first incident was on the planet Zebes, where a malevolent AI known as Mother Brain had taken over the planet with the Space Pirates, forcing the Chozo to escape (with the help of Samus). She took down the AI singlehandedly, then went on to pursue Ridley, who had escaped the planet. Ridley himself had fled on the Frigate Orphen, and went to the planet known as Tallon IV, where another Space Pirate base was set up. When Samus landed on the planet, she discovered the remains of Chozo civilization, and learned that the planet became corrupted when an asteroid had descended from the sky and crashed deep into the planet, spreading a radioactive substance known as Phazon. The Phazon led to the destruction of the Chozo on the planet and the creation of Metroid Prime, a mutated creature Samus ended up having to defeat, not before killing Ridley, of course. Her job on the planet done, she left and returned to her bounty hunter ways.
After the incident on Tallon IV, Samus was once again called by the Galactic Federation. A group of their marines had crashed on the planet Aether, and they wanted to send her to investigate. When she arrived on the planet, she soon discovered that besides the fact all of her upgrades were taken from her by a dark-colored copy of herself, the entire unit had been killed by a mass of bug-like aliens, and the violent magnetic storms prevented her from getting back. After meeting an alien named U-Mos, she discovers that the planet was inhabited by a race called the Luminoth (that U-Mos is a part of) until a meteor similar to the one that hit Tallon IV crashed into the planet. The planet was then violently split into two dimensions, one, the normal Aether, and the other, Dark Aether, inhabited by creatures known as the Ing, who were responsible for the deaths of the Federation Troopers. After switching between Aether and Dark Aether several times, Samus reclaimed her upgrades and defeated The Ing Emperor as well as her dark clone, which was actually Metroid Prime using her Phazon Suit upgrade. The bounty hunter then destroyed Dark Aether and left.
Her final battle involving Phazon occurred when she, along with three other bounty hunters, were called in by the Galactic Federation. The GF's organic supercomputers that served as their primary network were infected by a virus of Space Pirate origin, and they wanted to hire the bounty hunters to help deploy the cure to various units around the system. Just as the bounty hunters were about to leave to complete their task, the planet they were orbiting, Norion, came under attack by Space Pirates, who were clearing the way so a large object filled with phazon could get through. Though Samus and the bounty hunter managed to stop the missile-like object, they were attacked by Dark Samus and knocked unconscious.
Samus awoke a month later to find out that she was corrupted with Phazon and was somehow self-generating it. After receiving orders from the GF, she went to various planets to find out what happened to the other bounty hunters, who disappeared after a week they were deployed, as well as destroy other phazon “Leviathans” that had crashed into other planets. As it turns out, all the other bounty hunters had been corrupted with Phazon and submitted to Dark Samus' will, so Samus was forced to kill them and take their awesome upgrades. After visiting several planets (including the Space Pirate homeworld), Samus discovered that the source of all the Phazon was a sentient planet known merely as “Phaaze,” which was responsible for shooting out the Leviathans that corrupted not only the three planets she visited, but also Tallon IV and Aether. With the help of the GF, Samus managed to defeat Dark Samus and destroy Phaaze, ridding the galaxy of the threat of Phazon forever.
Her next, major galaxy saving mission (save for the one that involved fighting other bounty hunters in some Ambalic Cluster in order to defeat some giant rock Golem known as Gorea with a fancy beam she didn't even get to keep) sent her to the planet of SR3-88, the homeworld of the Metroids. Metroids were a race of jellyfish-like creatures that lived off the life-force of others, originally encountered by Samus on her first major mission to Zebes. She killed Metroids in various stages of growth, even going so far as to destroy a Metroid Queen. Just when she thought that all the Metroids were gone (as her mission was to eradicate them as they have been the source of most of the galaxy's problems), she came across an unhatched Metroid egg. It hatched right before her eyes and a Metroid Hatchling popped out. Despite being a vicious creature that fed off of the life energy of other organisms, it imprinted her as its mother and followed Samus around. Unable to bring herself to kill the innocent creature, she took the infant Metoid and gave it to the Space Station Ceres.
Just as she was leaving the Station, it came under attack. Samus found that the scientists she had given the Metroid hatchling to were all dead, and her nemesis, Ridley, had returned again to take the infant Metroid (after his death on Zebes and the death of his mecha clone, he was also defeated by Samus on Tallon IV, Norion, and the Space Pirate Homeworld). She went after him and the space station exploded, leaving her to follow Ridley to the surface of Zebes. Again, she hunted for Ridley, and defeated him, only to find that the Infant Metroid had already been cloned. Now attempting to get rid of the Metroids, she was attacked by a massive one that had grown due to radiation, only for it to stop right before it killed her as it was the Infant Metroid, and recognized her as its mother. Samus then moved on, only to find that Mother Brain was back, new and improved, despite Samus' great battle skills, she was defeated by Mother Brain and was about to die when the Infant Metroid came to the rescue, attack Mother Brain and giving up its life in order to save its mother. Given a new beam from the vaporized Metroid, Samus was able to defeat Mother Brain once and for all, and ended up blowing up Zebes.
Several years after the death of the Infant Metroid, Samus was cruising about the galaxy when she got a distress call. Following the call, she traced it back to a Bottle Ship (the name of the station), and found a squad of Federation Marines there, including her old friend Anthony Higgs, all under the command of her former CO, General Adam Malcovich. Despite the awkwardness between them, Samus was allowed the join the group after she saved them from a strange mass of bugs, and they all split up to look for clues on what happened on the station and why everyone was dead. After it is discovered that the facility was used for illegal bioweapon experiments. The other Federation Marines began to die off, and Samus ran into a young woman who claimed to be a scientist, and stated that one of the Marines was killed by another. After Samus and the scientist are separated when they are attacked by someone in a Federation suit, the bounty hunter begins to suspect that a traitor was put into the group in order to silence all who knew about the illegal experiments.
It got to the point where only Samus and Adam were left alive, when Samus ran into the same blond scientists before. She claimed that Adam himself was one of the founders of the project, and also that they were working on breeding Metroids. Samus takes off to find Adam, only to find that the traitor dead, killed by an unknown attacker. She then took off for Sector Zero, where the Metroids were supposed to be held, but she is shot by Adam. When she wakes up, Adam explains that the entire thing was set up by the blond scientist that she listened to, who claimed to be the one running the operation on the station, and that the Metroids in Sector Zero were immune to cold temperatures, which was their only known weakness. He then sacrifices himself in order to damage the Sector long enough for it to detach automatically and explode, leaving Samus to finish the job and prevent the station from being rammed into Federation HQ by the evil blond scientist girl so she can attack the Federation.
After running into and killing another Metroid Queen, Samus found the real leader of the facility, Madeline Bergman. She then explained that the blond who Samus had been listening to was actually an AI, created off the same basis as Mother Brain in order to better control the Metroids they were cloning from DNA salvaged from the Infant Metroid that had exploded above Samus' head on Zebes. The AI then went rampant and started killing everyone, feeling betrayed by Madeline, who she looked to as a mother figure. The two then set out to find said crazy AI, only for the AI to get killed by some Federation Marines that arrived “just in time.” While the leader of these Marines attempted to take Madeline away so she could be silenced, Anthony Higgs appeared, revealing that he had indeed survived being thrown off a ledge into a giant pool of lava. He then took Madeline with Samus, and they returned to Federation HQ to report what had occured.
Her final galaxy-saving mission took place after the bottle ship incident, when Samus was given the job of guarding a scientist group from the Biological Space Lab (B.S.L.) Station as they went on the planet of SR3-88 to look for samples of rare creatures. While on the surface, Samus was attacked by a strange parasite, which infected her system. By the time she realized this, she was back in her ship, and she went into cardiac arrest and crashed into an asteroid field. A rescue team found her and took her to GF HQ, where they surgically removed her suit and discovered that the parasite had infused with her nervous system and was killing her. Hope for Samus came in a vaccine against this “X” Parasite using Metroid DNA, which eliminated all the X in her system. She was then given the task of returning to the B.S.L. Station, as more X Parasites were on-board
During her mission, Samus was given orders from a Commanding Officer that was an AI, which she generally disliked. But the AI was the least of her worries, as the X Parasite was discovered to infect its host and then destroy it from the inside out, taking its form. While this applied to creatures such as Ridley and native Zebesians, it also applied to the pieces of Samus' suit infected with the X-Parasite, which turned into a copy of herself, SA-X (actually, there were several SA-X's running around). After the original SA-X was destroyed by Samus (and weakened by a Metroid Queen that was on-board), Samus decided that the only thing to do was eradicate both X Parasites and Metroids once and for all by running the B.S.L. Station into SR3-88. As the Galactic Federation wanted to keep the X for study, her AI CO naturally disagreed, and locked her in a room. But it was then revealed that the AI was in fact Adam, who had been copied into an AI after his death. Releasing Samus, he helped her ram the station into SR3-88 and the two escaped on their ship, along with some friendly creatures from Zebes that had helped Samus during her hunt for Ridley and the Infant Metroid.
Now on the run from the Galactic Federation, Samus got her suit restored to its original glory by some old friends (Chozo) and decided to retreat from the galaxy for a bit, and Genesis provided the perfect opportunity to do so.
Sweet lord, that took forever to write.
