History: Thor is the son of King Odin, Queen Frigga and rival of his brother Loki's for the throne of Asgard. Although he eventually ascended the throne, Thor was stripped of his title of king and exiled to earth after defying his father and starting a war with the Jotuns. While on earth Thor met Dr. Jane Foster who's influence changed him for the better. Learning that his brother had ascended the throne and was responsible for the events that ultimately led to Thor's banishment, Thor returns to Asgard and exposes Loki's plans in front of their mother. The two then battled, ending with the presume death of Loki and being cut off from Jane in the future. The war with the Jotuns was over and peace returned to Asgard, but an emptiness that couldn't be filled remained with Thor and his family.
Asgard would discover later however that Loki was in fact alive on earth, seeking the Tesseract. An enchanted object of unparalleled power. Odin transport Thor to earth through the use of dark magic and Thor takes Loki away from the Avengers who had captured him, leading to a battle with Iron Man and Captain America until realizing that they were on the same side. Thor joined up with the likes of Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America and SHIELD to stop Loki but first end up fighting each other. When Bruce Banner transform into the Hulk for the first time upon his recruitment Thor fights him, being the only one there able to match Hulk's strength, until Hulk fell from the Helicarrier.
After replenishing his strength, Thor confronted an escaped Loki again in New York where he used the Tesseract to unleash a Chitauri invasion upon earth. Thor rejoined with the others to fight off the Chitauri invasion and defeat his brother Loki. In the aftermath of the crisis, Thor takes back the Tesseract and Loki and returns to Asgard. But something goes terribly wrong while traveling through the portal and instead of Asgard, Thor ended up in a mysterious world with Loki and the Tesseract nowhere to be found. With the power of Mjolnir at his side, the God of Thunder embarks on a new quest to find his brother and recover the lost Tesseract.
