History: Saephara Crosswell was born originally in Hallowtown, raised as an upright citizen of the community. Ever since she was a child, she had been taught by her mother and father that violence was the wrong way, that the angels had nothing to do with any of the violence on the outside world. Saephara took their word to heart and grew up through the years simply being a young girl. She went to the local private school and played with the other young children. Every day she would come home to her parents and do her schoolwork, eat a homemade meal while discussing the day's school and her parent's work day, then sleep in a comfortable bed after a warm bath. She was none the wiser of how the world was outside of Hallowtown. As she grew older, she grew more aware of what was occurring and would ask questions of her mother and father. They would simply sit her down, lay the facts straight out on the table and that was that. Nothing more, nothing less. Sae would simply nod and go on with her life. When she had grown to be 14 years of age, her father told her of a new child coming into this world. She would become a big sister for this child! Oh how excited she was. Day by day, she would sing to the child in her mother's womb and tell it all about what she had seen that day. At that time, her mother had sensed something inside her daughter and had her stay home one day from school. Sae did not know what her mother was doing but trusted her. By the end of the day, a seal was placed upon Saepara's chest. The reason was never revealed to her by her parents. 9 months later, a baby boy was brought into the family's lives. His name was Alexandros Crosswell. From that point on, her mother stayed home with the child as her father worked and she attended her school. This is how she lived up until the age of 17.
It was a cold, rainy day and Saephara was returning from the store. She was asked to run down and grab some milk, bread and vegetables for dinner that night. As she turned the corner to come up to her residence, a chill that was not associated with the weather went down her spine, raising the hair on her arms. She shivered and thought nothing of it. As she approached her front door, she noticed that it was slightly ajar. At this, she had paused. Never had she left the door open and her parents would not leave without letting her be aware of the fact. Cautiously, she had entered the foyer calling out quietly for her mother or father. She could smell the food on the stove that her mother had started already alongside the incense that was always burned within the home to promote a calming environment. As she listened though, she couldn't hear the baby crying. He was two, but he cried over such little things. At the thought, Sae rolled her eyes and entered the kitchen, placing the items on the table. She started to call out to her family again but her voice trailed off as she approached the living room. The smell in the air didn't mix with the incense...something was wrong..it was metallic smelling. As she had taken another step in, she saw in the corner of her eye the carnage that had taken place. There was bright red blood everywhere. As her eyes trailed over the living room space, her breath caught at what she saw: her two parents and baby brother murdered and laid out on the family couch in such a way, her mind could not even comprehend. Never before had she been exposed to such violence. It was such a shock to her that it took a minute to register what exactly happened.
She had moved to stand in front of her slain family and dropped to her knees, her loose hair falling in the blood that lay fresh on the cushion. She reached out to touch her father when she was grabbed from behind and slammed to the ground. Sae screamed but was silenced immediately when a blade was put to her throat. The assailant knelt next to her, his one hand on her chest enough to hold her down. His face was shadowed by a hood but she could see that his eyes were a piercing emerald. He seemed to debate for a moment what to do. In that moment, an energy surged through Sae and she instinctively knew what to do.
She twitched her fingers and willed her energy to choke this man and pull him off of her. Immediately, he choked and released her to grab at his neck. Sae rolled away and pulled her strings down, anger and adrenaline flowing through her body, trying to kill the man that murdered her family. He looked at her and broke her threads of energy, rushing at her. She backed away, suddenly frightened, hitting the wall next to the grandfather clock. He slammed into her body, the sword buried into her side. In disbelief, she gasped and looked up at him as he stared down back at her. Slowly, he removed the sword and stepped away, letting her fall to the ground. He turned to leave and paused to say, "Now, this family cannot stop the inevitable," then continued to leave. With a hoarse voice, Saephara cried for him to stop as she winced in pain. He just kept walking and as he stepped outside he removed his hood revealing a tumbling waterfall of silver hair. At that moment, she had blacked out.
Saephara had woken in the hospital, being treated after her surgery to repair her stomach. She didn't say a word to anyone. She was catatonic for several days after. All she could hear was the whispers of the attending doctors and nurses about how horrible it was that her family was murdered... She had had enough. She pulled her IV line out, disconnected all of the cables attached to her body and struggled to the window. A nurse had seen her, tried to stop her, but Sae flung the window open and pushed off of the ledge. It was that day she learned that she could run on the air.
From the hospital she went to her home again to gather the bare necessities. She was leaving this place full of such loving memories that was marred by such an act... Unconsciously, she wondered to her mother's closet and rummaged through her things to find several leather bound books and scrolls. She had taken them on a whim and placed them in the knapsack that she had grabbed on the way. The last thing she grabbed was the bow her mother had given to her for her 17th birthday. A change of clothes, some food, and she left Hallowtown that afternoon.
In the present, Saephara is 21 and has created a new life for herself in Moon Valley. She has a small but efficient living space that gets her through the day. She works as a medical assistant at the nearby free clinic, using her new-found healing abilities for good. At night, she reads her parent's books which she discovered to have her family's hereditary traits, abilities and skills. In the morning, she hons her archery. She decided never would anyone she cares for die again. And now that the war had reached her small town, it was time to defend it. She braided her long silver hair, dressed in her soft leather armor that she had been given and grabbed her bow and arrows. It was time to fight.
