History:
Ludwig was born the son of a Duke in what had been at the time the Electorate of Bavaria. His life was fairly sheltered, and due to his family's social standing he was given the best schooling available, on a personal level no less. Languages, cultures, etiquette, the very foundations for being a gentleman, his family spared no expense when it came to his education.
He left Germany for Paris in his twenties to attend a university to further his education in law, and began to lead a far more social life than he had been permitted under his previous tutelage. He developed into a somewhat charming gentleman, enjoying the company of women, and making himself the life of high profile social events. It was in school however that he met a woman, a lawyer, and his instructor who he had begun an affair with, and after many months he made arrangements to marry her on the night of his twenty fourth birthday.
It was then that he realized the woman he thought he had so skillfully ensnared had in fact been the hunter. Having found a man she wished to pass her gift to, as they made love on the night of their marriage she drained his blood, and told him that if he wished to live he must drink her own. Having no other option, he obeyed, and her dark gift was passed to him. He soon found he had gained a mentor of another kind in the woman who had been his teacher -- One who took sadistic pleasure in the suffering of what she considered to be "cattle".
The reborn Ludwig's new found hunger for blood was insatiable, a fact which his 'wife' took full advantage of while shaping her new thrall. Soon what had been an intelligent, charming, and somewhat naive young man had formed into a perfect predator, taking advantage of his amiable disposition and ability to manipulate others in order to bring men and women back to her estate, to keep, and in time, feed on. Soon it became nothing more than a game to him, and the cries of the victims they kept caged were soon drowned out as any semblance of emotion or feeling left in his now lifeless body began to disappear.
After years of terrorizing the denizens of Paris, and innumerable disappearances, Maurer slowly became self aware of his situation. His relationship with the woman who housed him was nothing more than slavery. The immense love that he once felt for her began to dwindle, and soon he plotted the demise of the woman who falsely called him "husband". As she slumbered, he locked her coffin shut, and released the caged cattle he had collected for her, glamouring them into dragging her coffin outside into the sun, and setting it ablaze. Faithfully they did so, and with pleasure he watched as her protective case burned, soon followed screams as her body turned to ash.
He returned to Germany to be reunited with his family -- and in a single night slaughtered each and every member of his kin, inheriting his father's title of Duke. Through his ability to glamour people of importance, and thorough manipulation of the legal and political system, he eliminated the man who had been the Elector of Bavaria as well as all those underneath him. He returned his homeland to its status as the Duchy of Bavaria, placing himself at its head.
