To Rival God [Chapter XVIII]

Noob Saibot leaped back and out of Alex's range as one of the assassins of the Lin Kuel came at the Holy Knight with a slide from behind to trip her off her feet. Three more Lin Kuel shadows appearing to intercept the knights Alex had sent to protect the elders.

She tried to twist as the spear came at her, but there was no time or space to do so. She managed to maneuver so slightly to prevent the spear from hitting her lungs or heart, but it still struck her all the same. The man tried to yank her in towards the black hole, however she shoved her hands at the man, causing a burst of Light that forced her momentum to the opposite direction, the spear pulling free of her body. She angles her body into a backflip, her right hand covering the wound in her stomach that was now staining her white robes with her blood, and her left moving down to the ground to push off, continuing the flip.

After pushing off the ground, she brought her left hand down in a line behind her, one of her blades following it, the tip glowing green, and she disappeared inside her portal. Letting out a muffled groan, she moved over to the elders inside the alternate-space, reappearing just in front of the elders facing aay from them, towards the shadow warriors and the Soldiers of Light, her hand turning white to heal the wound. The shadow warriors would be fighting soldiers of Light with a heavy disadvantage, due to the holy effects of the Light Temple, so they wouldn't be giving her any trouble anytime soon. Suddenly, she felt a presence that all but brought a smirk to her face. She turned her face slightly to indicate she was talking to the elders. "My reinforcements are here..."

Alex was knocked off her feet by the sneak attack but flipped through the air and landed safely back on her feet bringing her sword down beheading the shadow ninja that appeared before pressing onward to Noob himself.

"I'm going to enjoy kicking your ass."

Alex lunged forward with the tip of her blade leading her charge and aimed towards Noob but at the last minute the Holy Knight's feet kicked off of the ninja both as an attack and using his body as a platform flying through the air and then running across the nearby wall releasing another sweep of holy energy towards the demons by her position taking them out and the sweep itself continued through the opened portal into the reinforcements giving the other Holy Knights time to slam the door in their faces. She jumped off the wall and looked back to Noob once her feet touched the floor.

"Just after I clear some space. I want you to have plenty of room to bleed."

The three she sent after the elders moved forward and struck the blades of the shadows (I'm just going to assume they have weapons) before striking their chest, moving around them and pushing them back away from the elders. The knights outside fell through the hole made by Quan Chi but grabbed the ledge and pulled themselves up. Resuming their battle with the fallen angels and forcing their way through the ranks to the demon sorcerers. They were nothing if not persistent. Losing your home twice does that.

Lenega would halt his forward momentum short at Quan Chi lifted his finger as a bolt rained down on his head. A barrier of light appeared above him as the light formed a shield around him as the green skull came hurtling towards him the light expanded moving in front of him as it exploded the light wrapping around Lenega and heading towards Quan Chi, but he wasn't done, Lenega tracked the light in his soul, or lack thereof, and if he dodged cutting through the light would be a spear coming to stab him.

After his sword smacked hers away Dante would take a step back and rotate. In mid rotation it happened all too fast that his sword was on his back and both of his pistols were drawn and pointed at her. In that moment they began blazing to life firing as fast as he possibly could sending each bullet for their mark with the perfect accuracy. Dante assumed that he was way too close for his bullets to be stopped again like before, and he assumed that at this range his best chance of avoiding being countered was to leave no movement forward for little red riding bitch.

Hulk held up his arm to block the left hook but got knocked in the jaw instead. The only vague acknowledgement of damage being the roar of defiance as his anger grew boosting his already overwhelming supply of strength as he hunched down and charged forward led by his shoulder into a tackle against Oblivion.

While the right side of the sanctuary was cleared by Alex the left side was occupied by Shirai Ryu and Lin Kuei assassins using the pews as vantage points against the Aircano soldiers in the room and backing them into a corner. Scorpion moved the black hole into the center of the sanctuary separating Alex from the rest of her men and the exit as another demon portal opened up against the wall behind her and the clan members lost came rushing out to join Scorpion and Noob in the battle against her.

Quan Chi moved out of the way of the light and moved forward, the spear flying out of Lenega's hands and into Quan Chi's who aimed the spear towards his heart.

Lenega let him take the spear from his hands, although Quan Chi would have no way of knowing that yet, but soon he would, because the moment it touched Quan Chi’s plam, it exploded, in a shower of holy light right in Quan Chi’s face. His spear, his daggers even, weren’t weapons of the physical realm, but rather the light from his own soul solidified. Something he had a complete master over, but he wasted no time as the spear reformed in his hands as Lenega brought the spear in an upwards slash attempting to send Quan Chi to join the early souls that had been departed from the battlefield if anything remained.

The spear exploded and a skeletal hand wrapped around his body regenerating Quan Chi while at the same time blocking the upper slash attack and the second the skeletal hand was removed Quan Chi's own hand was directed at Lenega and he would feel a tug on his own soul as the sorcerer threatened to rip it out of his body and claim it as his own.

Lenega took a few steps back as a skeletal hand blocked his path forward, but close enough to keep spear range. As soon as Quan Chi reappeared he would get what he wanted, just not in the way he wanted. Without warning the ground erupted beneath Quan Chi in a brust of Holy Light as he quickly followed up with a horizontal slash, that when it swept sent out another cutting ray of holy energy. Lenega didn’t have time to spend the entire battle fighting him and he knew it.

Noob Saibot
He who knows does not speak.

Noob Saibot walked towards his opponent as Scorpion and the others joined the battle. The rest of her team cut off from her thanks to the black hole and the others sent after the elders continuing their brawl against the three men she sent after them. Noob Saibot went into a fighting stance and waited for Alex to come to him.

Quan Chi didn't let up on the attack on Lenega's soul and he had done nothing to protect it from the Sorcerer's pull. As the ground beneath his feet erupted with holy energy the Sorcerer only laughed as Lenega's essence went inside his body and empowered him like never before and Quan Chi stood over Lenega's body in victory.

As Lenega felt his soul being pulled on he merely just smiled letting it go, but Quan Chi would have quite a surprise in store for him. It stopped resting inside his body leaving Lenega little more than an empty shell. He would feel no power coursing through his body, no new powers to draw on, but what he would feel is that soul explode into Holy Light right inside his body destroying his soul, mind and body from the inside out before sending it on to await rebirth in the cycles of time.

The reason he had failed to acquire Lenega’s power was less then obvious, but it was one that he knew well. What Quan Chi had fought was fighting, was merely a fragment of his true soul. Over the countless cycles, countless encounters. He had meet people, grown with people. And for each of these people he had left a part of his soul in them. The one he was fighting now dwarfed in comparison to those immense number of souls. Both his, and those of whom which he was fueled. More than the mind could fathom. The holy temple only serving to magnify them to extermes even the Arashi would pause to. And Quan Chi had felt the wrath of them in one swift motion without ever absorbing his soul as he wanted. Lenega had led him on the whole time.

Ranko's body burst into speed, dancing around the trajectory of the bullets in spite of the small distance between the two and empowered by the infinite stamina granted to her from Tajna Rasha's soul. This city would burn to the ground before she tired. Using her strength she pushed her body forward resulting in a small explosion that'd push Dante back and into perfect position for a Dance Macabre.
