Physical Appearance: Underneath his symbiotic costume, Spawn is only the charred, disgusting remains of the human he once was. His face is horribly disfigured and more resembles that of a corpse than that of a man. His mouth is filled with horrible fangs and his eyes glow green. His symbiotic costume takes on a black and white form that covers his entire body. It also has a large, red cape.
Special Abilities:
- Superhuman Strength: As a Hellspawn, Spawn is made entirely of a material known as Necroplasm. Being made of Necroplasm makes Spawn physically superior to a human in pretty much every way, including strength. The extent of Spawn's strength is not fully known, though it is assumed he can lift well over 100 tons. He has been shown ripping through humans with ease and punching through metal.
- Superhuman Durability: The Necroplasm Spawn is made out of makes him incredibly difficult to harm. Bullets have been shown to do nothing to him, as have a variety of melee weapons both bladed and blunt. Spawn has also shown a resistance to magic and energy attacks, demonic powers.
- Superhuman Speed: Spawn is about three times faster than an average adult human. This makes him able to cover vast amounts of land in short spans of time. Spawn's speed also allows him to dodge attacks that would be too fast for any normal human with ease and outrun average humans who are trying to run away. Spawn is also incredibly agile and has used that and his speed together to defeat many opponents.
- Regeneration: Spawn's regenerative abilities are nothing short of amazing. In the past Spawn has suffered wounds that would undoubtedly kill a human. This includes having his heart ripped out and being blasted by a rocket that was said to destroy tanks with ease. On both occasions he regenerated in seconds and was back up without even a hint of being hurt.
- Magic: Spawn's magical ability is incredible and he's been shown to manipulate it in a variety of ways. It is said that the only limitation on Spawn's magic is his imagination. This means that Spawn is able to do most everything with his magic, including flying, teleportation, fire breathing, throwing projectiles of energy, manipulating the elements and a variety of other abilities.
- The Legion: Spawn has an army of 6,000 souls that are under his command. When summoned, these souls have very limited versions of Spawn's abilities. Spawn can technically summon however many of these souls he desires, but he most commonly summons a small amount of them. The only problem with the Legion is that whenever they die, they are dead for good.
Weapons:
- Leetha of the 7th House of K: Spawn's symbiotic costume that gives him a variety of abilities. The suit itself is a living organism but it acts like a suit for Spawn. The suit is able to transform parts of itself into other things, including chains that shoot out of it, spikes on his arms, armor plating and anything else Spawn wants. It is also able to form weapons, such as a battle ax, sword or gun.
History: Spawn was originally a top FBI agent named Al Simmons. However, Al Simmons was killed one day and, as one who's occupation was killing others, he was sent to Hell. There, he encountered a demon named Malebolgia. Malebolgia gave Al Simmons a deal - if he were to become a commanding officer in Hell's army he would allow him to see his wife again. Al Simmons had loved his wife more than anything so, of course, he agreed to the deal. So, Malebolgia transformed Al Simmons into a Hellspawn and sent him back to Earth. There, he found that his wife was married to his best friend and five years had passed since his death. He had been tricked by Malebolgia.
Spawn soon discovered his abilities and encountered a disgusting man named Clown. Clown told Spawn about what had happened and that he was to watch over him. Spawn soon became something of an anti-hero, watching over the city and killing all who threatened him and the people around him. Spawn soon encountered a bum named Cogliostro. Cogliostro knew quite a bit about Spawn and became something of his mentor, taking an opposite role to his other mentor Clown. Eventually, Spawn grew to distrust Clown and attempted to fight him.
Clown transformed into his true form, the demon named the Violator. The Violator defeated Spawn in battle and Clown once again took on a semi-mentor role. However, Spawn's costume had evolved into a new form - one far more powerful than before.
