New Nightmare (NETHERREALM GENERALS)

Nightmare walked into the world of darkness, the world of sorrow and the world of pain, it was the world that he had always envisioned when he had gained complete control of Soul Edge and that the world would be his. It was the perfect world, but yet it was not his world, instead he had been invited to join this new world and become part of their world…a tempting offer and one that he initially rejected as he did not want to simply become a pawn in their little game. But as time went on and he spent more time in this new world he began to realise that perhaps he needed an edge, one that would put him above the humans but yet still retain his strength and lust to kill, they had promised him all of that and so much more. So here he was in this new world as he waited for the generals to arrive, they would assess him on whether or not he was capable or and suited to becoming part of their hive mind, he would show them that he was so much more then that. ”Where are you? Show yourself!” she shouted to the empty air but knowing full well that the generals of darkness would be waiting for him somewhere here as he growled and waited patiently for them to come.

Do you enjoy disturbing the peace?

Nightmare could hear a male voice, the voice of Quan Chi, but he would not see him anywhere nor be able to track down his exact whereabouts inside the Netherrealm as it felt like he existed everywhere and nowhere at once.

Can you fight?

The world around Nightmare began to turn, and twist, like one would see if they were hallucinating. He was testing his reserves, seeing what he would do as the Netherrealm turned against him.

Can you serve?

Nightmare heard the voice as he turned to see where it came from, the questions were quite trivial, all of them would be in the affirmative. He lived for destruction, he lived to fight but...could he serve? Never before had he served under someone before, the mere thought was enough to infuriate him but...if he was to survive in this new world he would need allies, allies that follow his ideals, allies that he can fight with. It would be a new experience but he was sure that he would be able to deal with it. "What trivial questions...I live for chaos and destruction, I live to fight and rend my enemies but as for servitude...it will be something new to me but for now I shall serve" he growled as the world around him began to change and distort, a clear sign of intimidation as Nightmare held his ground and continued to wait for the speaker to emerge.

The room around him continued to twist, to bend in ways that shouldn't have been possible. An eery silence settled all around Nightmare as the voice of Quan Chi no longer spoke after Nightmare declared his servitude. Then, just as the silence would have drove one mad there was a light. A light so bright it was as if one was on the pathway to heaven. But there was no eternal bliss here. Only suffering as everything went black.

The moment Nightmare would see everything clear again he would feel empowered. Various different voices speaking in his mind but all with a single thought process. Nightmare was no longer a single individual. He was now one of many. The Sorcerer Quan Chi stood before him with his black hood over his head, glowing red eyes meeting Nightmare gaze as the Sorcerer hid his weakness in spite of the fact that all the Netherrealm could feel it and was affected by it. Just another drawback of the hive.

The moment he had declared his allegiance to this strange world the voice stopped talking and it descended into a silence. Nightmare waited patiently for what could have felt like an eternity as his patience began to wane, finally when he thought that he would just go out and seek the speaker a bright light flashed over him as it was so bright he had to shield himself from the light. At first he thought that someone was about to greet him but then he felt empowered, empowered like he had never been before in his life, he felt stronger then before as hundreds of voices seemed to speak into his mind...not a far cry from the loud voice of Soul Edge he had to hear everyday calling for more souls. He would have to live with that perhaps as he gave a soft laugh as it grew in volume before he was laughing like a madman, "HAHAHA!! YES! I HAVE BECOME MORE POWERFUL THEN BEFORE!" he shouted to the sky.

"Go then. Join with the others on the surface."

A portal opened up by Nightmare's position leading directly to the Holy City of Aircano which was only seconds away from being conquered by the Netherrealm like Jherrazad and Moon Valley before it.

"The Holy City is just about finished. Soon the Netherrealm will match to Kari to claim it and the Downward Spiral."

Quan Chi was confident that his defeat meant nothing in the grand scheme of things. The Netherrealm will conquer Genesis and Utopia and rule the universes through the Downward Spiral. It was only a matter of time.

Nightmare looked through the portal as he saw a city in flames, the sounds of people screaming were like music to his ears, it felt nice to see people running away from chaos though inevitably they will all die. It had always amused him that people would be so willing to fight against their fate when it was clear what it would be, perhaps it was because humans did not want to accept that they were going to die, in which case it was foolishness on their part. Nightmare nodded as he lifted Soul Edge before running into the portal as landed onto the ground and began his chaotic rampage of destruction as he slashed everything and anything that got on his way as he didn't care much about the Downward Spiral or Kira or anything really...as long as he got his souls then he would happily kill anything.
