Edit: Bear in mind these are a work in progress. I want input before I do more planning. If we do any of the DnD styles, the role play would only be during a set time so everyone participating can be in the Cbox and telling me their rolls!
Another Edit: Vote or not, tell me what you want to see in the future role play. Any can be posted here or sent in a PM. <:
Alright, so I mentioned wanting to do exploration role plays. I shall explain each option.
1) Partial DnD Style: So, never played DnD before? What if this role play was like one? There are online dice generators, but in this case, you'd only need the D20. I'd only have you guys use it for the following:
* Spot Check: Basically, who's going to see something. Since this would be partial, it would only be for who would find something non-threatening. This is what will be one of the core elements to the role play because whoever spots something first can continue to get the ball rolling depending on their reaction.
* Knowledge Check: Perhaps you've seen something like this before? Maybe in a book? You may have some idea as to what a certain thing is. This will be interesting because artifacts or other various items will be found during the explorations. Or creatures. Maybe you can name it.
* Initiative: Well, crap, a fight has broken out. Whoever rolls the highest goes first in fighting, lowest goes last. That sort of thing.
* I'll be announcing other things that will need a roll in posts. If people don't like it, I'll remove that.
In partial DnD, I won't have people rolling dice to see how much damage they can deal to a monster or whatever it is they are up against. It will go down after, maximum, three rounds. I also won't have any skills your characters have being hindered by luck of the dice (like healing, firing a gun, using powers, etc.) because I'm sure that would be infuriating. I've had instances in DnD where I had crappy rolls and my character nearly died.
2) Mostly DnD Style: Ah, wanna go more hardcore, do ya? Don't worry I'm going to still keep it simple and only add in the D6 dice. Now, you'd have to use the D20 more often to get tasks done. I'll give an example.
Say, Utena needs to sneak past a guard. She has to roll a D20 to see if she will succeed. If she rolls 1-5, well, she'll be spotted. If it's a 6-10, the guard will hear something and she'd have to roll again to try to hide, if it's 11-14, the guard would hear something but think it may be just his imagination, 15-20, you are good to go. I'll be merciful if dice rolls are being absolute bitchtards in very tense situations, but we shall see
Now for the D6! That's the amount of damage your attack would do against something. Bear in mind the D6 will only be used during fights. For this to work, you first need to roll and see if your attack lands. I'll be merciful in this. If you roll a 12-20, I'll let you hit. Once the hit is confirmed, I'm going to have you guys roll a set number of D6. Monster will have set hit points, and they will start off easy. The more difficult they get, the more D6 dice I'll be having you roll.
Rest assured fights aren't going to happen often unless it is wanted.
3) If you guys want this, then sure, let's go for it! Just send me ideas as to what you want to have happen. We'll all be controlling the environment to an extent. Or randomly bring in something. That sort of thing!
4) This I also can do. I can manage to do something like that without the dice.
5) I CAN'T HELP IT! IT FOLLOWS ME EVERYWHERE!
