He woke up to what felt like the worst hangover ever conceived.
Writhing bio-mass slithered and circled around parts of his body, regenerating it from the effects of the portal. Fuck, what a headache. The headache was so terrible, even the Void Moon Virus was quiet. Where did that rip in space-time send him? He then remembered that he wasn't an astrophysicist, so the details would've soared right over his head even if he were to answer himself. When the Void Moon was finished, which wasn't long, Hunter shakily stood up on two feet. Well, he was in a city, for starters, and the alley he stood in seemed to be abandoned. Through the headache, he was putting two and two together.
The city seemed far too advanced to be New York, or Chicago, or even Tokyo. Where was he?!
His feet went into action, propelled by the virus' instincts to get to safer ground. Up Hunter went, running the side of the building as if it were the floor. When he reached the top, he swapped through his different vision types to get a glimpse at what the city held. Many advanced vehicles, many people....
It's a buffet!
Focus broken by that VOICE... AGAIN.
We HUNGER!
Oh shit. The portal must've taken out more energy reserves than he had previously thought. Hunter resisted the virus' primal urge to hunt, kill, and feast. The more he resisted, the more urgent those instincts became. One single question helped with resisting, a question he intended to hang on to until answered....
Why wasn't anyone out in the streets this night?

Because the Vulture would gut them if they were. A group of tanks escorted by foot soldiers in standard black military issue Vulture uniforms, equipped with energy rifles and semi-automatic heavy pistols and ankle pieces. Three M1A1s traveled down the road with Hornets at their sides, MotoTanks speeding by and a single Goliath covering their rear. On the center M1A1 in the row was a young boy no older than fourteen. Arms crossed and supporting the back of his head as he puffed smoke up into the air from a cigarette even though smoking was meant to be illegal here. His eyes looking up to the top of the building Hunter was standing on and a smile curved his lips as he stood up on the M1 tank and whistled, signalling to the others to stop. "We got ourselves a live one, boys."The soldiers looked up as the tanks turned their guns to face the building the man was standing on. Walter lifted up his right hand and motioned for the Hornets to raise their missile launchers up at the man. "Ready. Aim. Fire!"The stringers shot up into the air and up the building before arcing inward and heading to collide into the man to create one massive explosion. Vulture took his curfew seriously.

Hunter and Void Moon stopped wrestling each other when they heard the sound of machinery. He looked over the edge to find a taskforce on patrol, looking like they could take on a platoon of soldiers without breaking a sweat. What kind of weapons were those? They certainly don't have those in New York.
"We got outselves a live one, boys."
FOOOOOOOOOD!
Wait, no-
Another command interrupted his thoughts, "Ready. Aim. Fire!"
Well, he found out why the people of the city all were hiding in their homes. Quite an explosive find. Literally, bombs dropped on his head, causing a chunk of the building to go up in flames. This didn't kill him though. Not by a longshot. If anything, it only made him more inclined to feed the virus. Hunter created a pair of whips out of the bio-mass making him up, huge claws creating the throngs at the ends. He saw them through the smoke that the aftermath created, and now they were going to regret it.
The long whips lashed forward, punching holes in a tank as Hunter ran down the front side of the building, his intents clear. He was going to get personal with these people, get to know them, then maybe take them out for dinner. The virus was hungry, and they had shot at him.
It was only fair that they were take-out.

The whips hit the tank's shields and when it broke through that it started to inflict damage on its armor. By that time a glint of blue flashed through the air and the whips were ripped to shreds by the microfilament wires embedded into his gloves where the Crimson Vulture insignia can be found on the back of the right one. The soldiers raised their weapons and unloaded energy pulses towards Hunter as he descended down the wall. The tanks spreading out in the area and closing off his exits as Walter stood in the center of the road and waited.

Contagious blood spread everywhere as the fleshy tendrils were severed, sending the parasite-virus everywhere. They grew back, forming into a pair of giant, metal-shredding claws. Well, they had something up their sleeves too. This wasn't boring at all! When he got onto the street, he called down a Creeping Doom, spreading his poisonous essence all over the concrete with twisting, dark purple bio-mass from his feet. The deep purple goop came to life, latching onto the feet of soldiers and the treads of tanks with finger-like tendrils.
He lunged openly, hacking away at tanks and growing feeder tendrils from his shoulders to devour soldiers directly into himself. The energy pulses only made him get more resistant to them as they continued to open fire. Even those wires made him get more resistant to physical damage. If he could weather extreme temperatures and missiles, he can resist this. Void Moon wasn't concerned about Walter. It didn't care, so it ignored him and continued to go after the artillery.
Didn't mean Hunter himself didn't care. In fact, he was worried about what the boy could really do if this parasite-virus pissed him off.

The soldiers got up on the M1A1s to avoid the purple goop and the Hornets Hunter went after collapsed in on themselves, teleporting out of the way and providing an open for the MotoTanks to release a barrage of .50 caliber bullets from their twin machine guns towards him as the Hornets reappeared and fired off more missiles from behind in rapid fire, the missiles covering the tanks positions where they now stood. Walter's body appeared unphased by the poison and continued to walk normally over the goop as shields of wires formed in the air out in front of him deflecting the in-coming tendrils and allowing the soldiers to switch to their pistols and firing off blessed silver at the monster.

The silver didn't do anything to him. In fact, they just harmlessly squished against his adapting body like a snowball. Even the fifty caliber bullets were doing only half damage. His right arm shifted into what resembled a biological gun. It built up in pressure, then fired a stream of acid. Yes, acid. Hydrochloric acid. Not as powerful as hydrobromine acid, but at least hydrochloric acid could be biologically created. Still, strong acid.
The high-pressured acid cannon arm was directed right at Walter as he was advancing.
It was such a high-pressured stream that it even collided with the tank near the exit. While he was attempting to melt Walter where he stood, a bloody red pustule started to form somewhere on the Creeping Doom area, bubbling bigger in size. The longer it was left alone, the bigger it got. Hunter morphed his other arm into a bladed whip, whacking at the soldiers shooting at him from behind.
The pressure from the cannon arm kept his feet to the spot, lest he wanted to go flying backward a few feet. The acid should dissolve those wires....
If not, then plan B.

Walter snapped his fingers and more wires were launched towards Hunter, easily running along the sides of the stream of acid due to how thin they were and how quickly they could move as within nanoseconds they wrapped around his neck, the Angel of Death twisting his body to the side to evade the acid as it took the soldiers on duty with him. But Hunter wasn't the only one who could mutate. The soldiers stood up after being burnt through by the acid. Their cells regenerating and body mutating to the damage created as they became monsters as well.
"Don't lose your head."
The wires around Hunter's neck then tightened and sliced through to decapitate him.

The last thing he saw was a flash of blue, heard a roar, then nothing. His head came clean off, as well as the hood that he wore with it. It wetly hit the ground, rolling to stop at the growing pustule, which had tripled in size already. The impact jarred the pustule, and the pressure inside, to pop, sending a thick red fog of contagious parasite-virus into the air. Hunter's body, though, remained standing, the cannon arm and the whiparm shifting to their original states.
Then the body moved on its own, regenerating the severed head that was lost. The lost head melted into the Creeping Doom, becoming it and feeding it. Hunter's new head came back, and even the hoodie that was sliced through also came back, merging with the jacket seamlessly. When the flesh finally slithered into proper shape and color, Hunter had a predatory smile on his face.
Feeder tendrils lashed forward to grab the newly morphed monsters by their heads, and crushed them, assimilating their energy into his. Void Moon detected a virus within their bodies, and wanted to feast on it. Energy was replenished, and he could resume the fight. His right arm morphed into the acid cannon, while the left arm changed into what looked like a biological rifle. The cannon was aimed and fired at the other group of soldiers, while the rifle blasted sharp bone shards like bullets, aimed for Walter. He wanted the soldiers to mutate so he could get more energy from them!
Hunter didn't say anything against Walter's quip, but he did keep that predator's grin.

There was an unspoken rule among the abominations here. Remove the head or heart and the body will fall no matter how powerful but the addition of new universes colliding with this one has changed the rules. Walter cut off his tendrils again by deflecting them with the wires and then the bone shards before wrapping them around his body and slicing through it to slice and dice him into small pieces. Walter assumed he would regenerate the same as before but it would take a while for it to be complete.

The grin dissolved into a deadpanned expression as the bone shards were sliced into bits. This expression did not change even as he was mercilessly ripped into fleshy pieces. Blood painted the walls of the buildings around him, most of it on the street. The Creeping Doom circle started to shrink inward, retreating into the piles of flesh on the floor. The goop was made of himself, so it sped up the regeneration process by lopping off a few seconds of regen time.
The cubes of infected meat melted away, compiling together to become a dark blob of rising cells. Purple tendils twisted out of this blob, morphing the feet and legs, as well as the lower body. The goo covered the new creation, this pattern repeating until Hunter fully formed again. Even the clothes he wore were reformed from the human-shaped mound of parasite-virus. The Creeping Doom was gone, including that popped pustule.
Hunter stretched his neck once the disgusting regeneration process completed itself, his voice a combination of deadpanned and mocking,"Really? Dental floss? That's going to work how?"
In reality, Hunter was more than miffed about getting diced by hair-thin wires. He hadn't even heard of such a thing happening until now. He had been hit by missiles, tanks, jets, sliced in half by a helicopter's blades, ran over by trains, but nothing like this. They're trying to think of everything to put him down it seems. Silver and bullets don't work, energy weapons don't work, and the wires aren't working. Hunter gained a resistance to the damage those wires, and the bullets, were doing, so he was getting much harder to cut each time.
Hunter folded his arms across his chest and leaned a bit on one foot, "Got anything else?"

Walter applied more strength behind his wires, his overall strength accelerating as the battle escalated and the need to become stronger arrived. Countering Hunter's body growing harder by putting even more strength behind the wires to cut through his body regardless. Only this time the wires impaled his body and once inside started to complete rip his body apart as a hover tank entered the scene, gliding right over the goo that was slowing the other tanks down and firing from its flamethrower to incinerate the pieces that remained. Fire and abominations never mixed after all.
"I can do this all day."

Well, Mister Dental Floss had a prescription for him after all.
He felt some biomass get ripped from him, and one of those tanks start burning what remained. Hunter's skin abruptly hardened, thickening with armor as his arms turned into thick, large shields. Now he had Walter, since the wires were stuck in him. The fire wouldn't do anything, just wash over his armor like water. If his hunch was correct, he could fling Walter around like a doll since the wires came from his hands.
He tried doing so, using the thick, spiked shields as further reinforcement in a move to hopefully chuck Walter into space.
Another pustule bubbled up from the goo, getting fatter as the battle progressed. If that one wasn't prematurely popped, it would send a thicker smokescreen of deadly virus into the air just like the first one. The goo itself rippled from undeneath the hover tank, finger-like tendrils trying to reach for something to hold on to. It just barely scraped the bottom of it.
"Flamethrower tank? How original."

Walter was surprised when he saw the creature trying to pull on his wires to hurl him into the air at first, then he merely laughed as the wires sliced through his armored arm. Hunter defense was growing at the same time Walter's strength was allowing the wires to continue slicing through Hunter regardless of how much he adapted. Slamming his own arm into the man's face before popping the bubble and this time charging towards Hunter, hopping from tank to tank and sending another wave of wires to impale and tear Hunter apart, at the same time he ripped the ground out causing the goo to fall down to the sewers below.

He actually felt that one. His own arm in his face? Cheeky prick.
After getting bashed around, and torn up, he went after the tanks instead of Walter, regenerating any lost biomass. This was something he had never fought before, and he was losing the battle. Hunter split open a tank like a can of sardines using his newly generated metal-shredding claws, digging into it to hopefully add another layer of defense. If there were soldiers inside, they would've been already consumed by the feeder tendrils. The goop clinging to the ground was pulled up like weeds and chucked into the sewers, where it actually grew on its own accord. It wasn't Hunter doing it. It was all the organic material below.
When the next wave of wires slashed through the tank, he heard a reinforcement call from a surviving soldier. They arrived almost instantaneous, shelling him with advanced weapons. Fuck. Time to leave!
Hunter dropped the defense and bailed, dashing into an alley before Walter could even think about pursuing. The virus was shrieking at him to flee, and he promptly complied. He was quickly out of sight. Hunter would definitely need to sneak up on this one.
Just not this time. [Exit Hunter]
