Name: Illius Avaant
Aliases: The Living Dead
Age: 702
Gender: Male
Species: Mummy (just not the bandages type)
Alignment: Evil. Like, seriously EVIL.
Canon or Original: OC (Inspired by Tombs Of The Blind Dead)
Date of Birth: 1288
Place of Birth: England
Physical Appearance:
Ilius is covered from head to foot in a large, matted and tattered cloak with a hood that hangs below the remains of his arms and covers - once white, it now looks a moldy brown and green from years upon years of dirt and rot. The rest of him is pretty much skeletal but for skin stretched tight across bone.
Personality: Illius is pure evil within a man. The first time he arose he was not like this, however, he simply wished to have vengeance upon those who had killed him wrongly, for self defense and without proof. However, seven hundred years with your own thoughts and Satan talking to you sort of gives you a new outlook on life. He'll kill anyone he can to pay his dues to Satan, and enjoys doing it. He's also incredibly curious about his world - but that boils down to admiring the architecture and chopping off limbs.
Special Abilities:
+ Strength: Despite being long dead, Illius (due to being resurrected by a certain fallen angel) is incredibly strong, capable of throwing a 200lb man clear across a room or decapitating someone in a single sweep of his blade.
Smart: He's dead, but he's still got his smarts - so don't expect him to walk into walls or beat on your doors. He'll shatter the door down and cut your head off. His voice is sort of like someone ran him through a desert for a decade, as dry and gravely as sandpaper.
+ Damage Tolerance: Illius is dead - how is he supposed to feel pain? Shoot him in the face, he'll keep coming. Cut off his head, he'll keep coming. The only way to put him down for any length of time is to have someone of sufficient face in god strike a blow to the area his heart would have been. Those this will not permanently kill him, he will be out of action for days.
+ Horrifying Visage: A basic one. How many wouldn't be rooted in fear fighting a walking corpse with a blade in his hand who is talking about ripping out your heart and devouring you?
+ Sword play: Despite being a devout follower of the church in life, Illius was rather good at self defense with a blade. Now as a horrifying undead, he puts those blade skills to use by being able to kill people with very little ease and hold his own against superior opponents with a combination of his durability, skill and strength.
+ Invulnerable: Now, this is perhaps the most horrifying thing about Illius. Being raised by Satan, he cannot ever truly die; he can be stopped, damaged enough to lie down for a while but he will always reform. Even from being shattered into a thousand pieces and cast to the winds, his body will return to him days later - this, coupled with his already incredible durability makes him a force to be feared.
- Slow: Again, with being dead, Illius isn't exactly going to be running around like a spring chicken. He's slow, but can move with a burst of speed once in a while - you can still outrun him easily, however.
- Unholy: Illius cannot enter a place of holy ground, due to being a product of Satan. That doesn't mean he won't stand outside waiting to eat your face, however.
- Heartless: As a section of the deal Illius made with Satan, he is required to take the hearts of his victims and devour them. This is so the energy of that person - the soul - goes to the man downstairs. He doesn't have to eat every person he kills, but a good number of them. This in itself means he'll often be preoccupied for a little while.
- Blind: Well he's been dead a long time, it stands to reason his eyes would have long rotted. Though he still has the power to see, it is far from perfect and he cannot see in color. As a trade off, he can see your heart and all the veins in your body.
Weapons: Besides his psychical strength, He carries with him a large sword that, though rusted and notched, is enhanced to still cut as if it were the sharpest. The handle is simple, and upon inspection it looks as if a piece of it has been sanded off, were a mark may once have been.
History: Illius was once a devout member of the church, fully supporting the wars in the middle east and generally being a good little devotee. The problem with this was, not everyone agreed with his methods nor his views and sought to have him cast from the church ranks. In the small village he lived in this was a very big thing for him and he fought tooth and nail to prove he had nothing to hide and there was no reason for him to be kicked out.
However, something worse happened. It seemed one of those who sought to see him gone planted incriminating evidence within his chambers; specifically a book upon the worship of Satan. Despite his protests, the townspeople attempted to break into the church and burn him for his apparent crimes. In his first true act of treason - and in an attempt to defend himself - he cut down several people with his blade before he fled within his chamber and locked the door.
As the enraged people beat upon it, he prayed to God to spare him and save him. But it was not god who answered him; it was the Devil himself. In exchange for being able to get revenge upon those who had wronged him, he would serve under Lucifer.
He accepted.
Thus, the townspeople broke in and hauled him away to be hanged - burning wouldn't be good enough for him. And so, he was buried in a simple patch of land with neither headstone nor otherwise.
Five days later, he came back to life and arose from his grave. Clutching his sword in one hand he massacred the entire town. Arrows could not stop him, and blades did not harm him. In that single day did the entire town run red with blood, and Illius was allowed to retire to his grave once more.
However, it was not that simple. There he rested for several hundred more years in a slumber, until the realities began to shift and change, melding into each other - next he awoke, he was not in his town. Now, with evil burning within his breast and the desire to slaughter in his mind, the fallen member of the church rises once more to seek revenge.
