Name: Colonel Roy Mustang
Aliases: The Flame Alchemist, Colonel
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Alignment: Good
Canon or Original: Canon
Date of Birth: 1885
Place of Birth: Amestris
Physical Appearance:
Roy Mustang is a man who appears official whether in uniform or out. He keeps his black hair styled in a way that it hangs over his forehead and eyes; left slightly unkempt that gives his a bit of a ruffian appearance. The eyes are a very dark brown, to the point that they look almost black. Those eyes nearly always burn with the light of strength and determination, and they have hardened to the point where suffering or pain rarely show. He keeps his face free of hair; he is fair skinned and pale. He isn't seen out of uniform often, due to his loyalty and appreciation of the military he serves.
The uniform is a deep blue color; made up of a white shirt with the jacket worn on top, blue pants, and a sort of half skirt which is worn so that it hangs down the back of his legs to his ankles. The uniform also had a characteristic fold diagonally over the front. Both the jacket and skirt are trimmed with a silvery white fabric. The sleeves of the jacket fold back over the wrists, and are also trimmed in white. On either shoulder, he bears three stars; the proof of his Colonel rank. A golden yellow rope is worn on his right shoulder, and along with rank badges on his collar. He wears simple black military boots. When in battle or about to be, he puts on a pair of white gloves which have a red transmutation circle on the backs. The gloves are made of a special material which helps him create fire which is his signature weapon.
Special Abilities:
Flame Alchemy: Roy is able to create fire seemingly out of nothing in an instant, so long as he has the flame transmutation circle present; whether it's on his gloves of cut into his own skin. The gloves he wears are made of a material which cause a spark from friction created when he snaps his fingers. Using this spark and the transmutation circle, he heats up the air around him; which can be seen by a trail of red-orange flames which look like electricity. Those flames are made hotter and more powerful through the alchemy used, so Roy creates a mass of flame which he can use in many different ways. The amount and volume of the fire, as well as the level of heat, can be fully controlled by him; though it is not uncommon for Roy to go overboard.
If the said ignition gloves become wet however, he cannot create the needed spark to set off the chain reaction. So he is dubbed as "useless" by his most trusted friends when he is a "wet match". However, he always carries around a good number of lighters. Should he lose the use of his gloves, he tends to use the lighter flint to create the spark; and proceeds to carry out the transmutation as he usually would. Roy is also able to separate water molecules into their different atoms, creating pure oxygen and hydrogen. Hydrogen is a flammable gas, so he ignites it once the water is transmuted. The oxygen created is then used to make the resulting flames larger, hotter, and more powerful.
Weapon: Flame Alchemy
Brief History:
Roy Mustang was one of the State Alchemists who were sent to Ishval in his own world during the great Ishvalan war. State alchemists, with their alchemy skills renowned and feared; were dubbed as attack dogs, a good name. Those who resided in his world knew that when those Alchemists were sent in, it was to be the final battle. The attack dogs were under orders to wipe out the enemy; man, woman, and child alike. He used the flame alchemy without restraint that he learned from Berthold Hawkeye; the father of his closest friend and accomplice, Riza Hawkeye. The war between Amestris and Ishval had gone on long enough, and it was time to end the bloody ordeal. During the final battle, there was a moment when Roy was ready to shoot himself in the head, not wanting to take anymore lives. The ordeal of the war still haunts him, and he will never forget all that was lost in that conflict. During the said war, he made many close friends within the military he served; and he remains their well-qualified commanding officer. Roy wouldn't hesitate to put his own life on the line for his subordinates, despite the arrogant and carefree attitude he shows to the public.
The Colonel was the one who went to Risembool to seek out the topic of a tip off he'd received from a colleague. There was supposed to be a gifted young alchemist living there, by the name of Edward Elric. However, when he arrived; he was greeted with the sorry sight of a broken boy missing two limbs; and the brother trapped in a suit of armor. Roy, while quite furious at first that the young fool a had attempted human transmutation, was unable to deny that Edward was more than skilled enough to become a State Alchemist. It was under encouragement from the Colonel that Edward chose to be fitted for auto-mail, so that he could join the military and begin the journey toward getting his and Alphonse's bodies back. From that first day of meeting, a bond was formed between Mustang and Edward.
Colonel Mustang was the placed in charge of the newly-dubbed Fullmetal Alchemist once Edward had passed the State Alchemy exam. He supported the young alchemist through everything as they journeyed toward their goal. What Roy wants is to be there to welcome the brothers back once they were normal again. But he also wants to become the new ruler of Amestris; the Fuhrur. Ambitious and hot-headed, he went through many different situations and conflicts; many which involved Edward and his younger brother. He uses his powerful Flame Alchemy when needed, though he tends to go overboard often.
