Hey, Spork here with an idea. Yes, I know that I JUST joined yesterday, but having 4 years of RP forum experience and a general knack for writing (hello ego) means I have a good idea as to what I'm doing... I think. In a forum I'm a part of, we use a chat system called Chatzy to do a live role playing session with our characters. It's not meant to be serious, but more of a way to practice with people or test our scenarios you're planning in real time, in the "Chatverse", which is basically an alternate reality from the forum canon (an excuse we've made to keep the Chatzy sessions from influencing the forum). It's proven to be a good way to develop a rapport with fellow RPers. It also helps that Chatzy is easy as hell to use. Making a room is easy, as is setting a password. While the room limit is 12, we've gotten around that by making several chatzy's for different purposes. Like fighting/talking/silly. Here's a link to a test chatzy room, with a few comments left as a tutorial of sorts to the chat functions. Please, tell me what you think!

I love this idea!! However why not have two chatboxes... one for OOC chat and the other for IC chat. I've seen this done on some sites, so why not here ;D

Well, there's a few reasons for that. One being you guys already have a chatbox on the forum. Having another chat would complicate things and leave people divided between those who want to use another chat in a new tab and those who just want to log on and join the chat on any page of the forum. Then there's the 12 person limit I previous stated. No, it's better if the Chatzy rooms are strictly an IC deal.

Make the two chatboxes smaller. It can be done and I think you can label them

2 Cbox's clutter the look of the forum. If we were to have one roleplay cbox it would be on another board, but considering this is forum roleplay and not chat roleplay, I'd implore the clicking of his link more than a second cbox.
Another problem comes with a second cbox, you would constantly have to press refresh unless someone paid for it. And his link is free, so yeah.

Another advantage that I just remembered. You can log in multiple names on the computer if you use multiple windows of the chat room. This would be useful if someone wanting to control more than just one of their characters.

Actually, I believe ToriJ would be able to enable a javi chat through the admin panel that could be used for this purpose. My main issue is the current cbox we have now hardly gets any used so I don't see a second chat room/box getting much use either.

The current cbox gets plenty of use. Raal is on everyday, Grimm, Shinta, Ayen, Xemnawhateverhisnameis, the other dragon lover guy, Kira, it's there for use, but the other regulars don't seem to stick around the site long enough to do anything but put in a post and leave. So the Cbox is just there for the other folks who mosey around the site most of the day.

A good place to practice and kill time in-between posts on the main board. I'm for it. Actually, I believe ToriJ would be able to enable a javi chat through the admin panel that could be used for this purpose. My main issue is the current cbox we have now hardly gets any used so I don't see a second chat room/box getting much use either. This? Never used either before so I can't really compare.

I had a pretty good idea for how we'd divide the chat rooms.
1. General talk (Mostly characters meeting/talking/planning things. CAN on occasion delve into fighting if the mood is set in drama.)
2. Fighting (Two or more people meet, they fight. Simple, no plot. Would be used to test how well people can handle fight scenes or to test new abilities or find new uses for current abilities.)
3. Silly (This is for the completely random, the humorous, or the downright crazy scenarios that people can think of. Basically, this is the "what if?" room that can be used for pure entertainment or to get ideas for alternate scenarios in forum canon.
