Smoke drifted through the clean air of Utopia as flames quickly engulfed the land, following that was the sounds of screams as the Firebird simply walked towards Utopia's castle burning down everything in her wake. Calling out one name in particular as she set everything around her ablaze.
"Maricul!"
She made siege for the castle, Jill Valentine and Ra Constantine, two of many Utopian warriors cut her off at the path. Jill rushed her, delivering a combination of punches and kicks while Ra provided fire support through dark energy. Zira pushed on through sending both hurling through the air with little effort as she entered into the Entrance Hall of the castle.
"Maricul!"
Zira ascended up the stairs in front of her across from the entrance and walked down the long narrow hallway to the throne room as Jenesis (Deathwish) and Lemara came at her next. Jenesis came to her side and started swinging with her Katana while Lemara began invading her mind but Zira would see through her illusions and with a simple wave of her hand knock Jenesis through the walls, sending Lemara after her to the floor below, not interested in fulfilling Jenesis' wish today as she finally made it into the throne room of the Seductress.
"Maricul!"

But when she entered the throne room...
She saw that it was surrounded by Toads.
“We're sorry, Mario! But your princess is in another castle!”

What was this? Some kind of joke? Zira had reached the peak of her powers and was prepared to burn everything to the ground and instead of facing her directly to remove the threat or sending one of her more powerful agents she sent toadstoods to greet her? With a simple wave of the hand fire engulfed the room and burnt the toads to a crisp. Nothing but their ashes remained as Zira continued into Maricul's royal chambers, looking down at the queen size bed where she and Maricul made love for the first time. More anger consumed her very being and she set fire to the bed and the rest of the room. Soon after she would hear the sound of a piano playing and followed it to the music room where this time she would find....

Zira followed the music to come from the piano in the music room to find Luca Valentine herself as the one behind the music. Upon seeing the Firebird, Luca did not move or attempt to get ready for battle. Instead she simply continued playing on the piano as she smiled to the woman on fire.
“Ms. Firebird, I wasn't expecting you. Have a seat. Would you like anything? I can have my servants prepare something for you.”

“Ms. Firebird, I wasn't expecting you. Have a seat. Would you like anything? I can have my servants prepare something for you.”
Luca's lack of concern for her castle and well being only served to increase the devil's rage as she shot out another wave of flames burning the piano until nothing but ashes remained of the instrument.
"I've no interest speaking to an avatar. Show yourself, Maricul!"

"I've no interest speaking to an avatar. Show yourself, Maricul!"
Luca looked down to the incinerated piano and then back to Zira.
“Was that necessary?”
Luca stood up from the piano's bench, while doing so the ashes behaved as if someone pressed the rewind button on them – flying up into the air and coming together to reform the piano back to its previous form, allowing Luca to lean up against it by the time she got to her feet.
“Maricul is dead. I'm all that remains.”

“Maricul is dead. I'm all that remains.”
"Liar!"
Zira got into Luca's face, the flames off her body threatening to burn Luca's flesh by simply standing there in the woman's presence.
"I am looking right at her, only she is too much of a coward to show her true face. The face of a worthless bitch, daughter of a worthless bastard priest and the worthless sire to the asshole king. Show yourself to me or spend the rest of eternity rebuilding your kingdom from ash!"

"Liar!"
Luca didn't react to being called a liar, nor did she react to having Zira in her face with fires that produced heat which would be unbearable for anyone else.
"I am looking right at her, only she is too much of a coward to show her true face. The face of a worthless bitch, daughter of a worthless bastard priest and the worthless sire to the asshole king. Show yourself to me or spend the rest of eternity rebuilding your kingdom from ash!"
“You always have to learn the hard way, don't you?”
Luca supposed that was what first drew her to Zira. Her bravery. Never backing down even when fear itself stared her in the face. The Paradox rested a hand on Zira's shoulder and in that moment the Firebird would begin to feel weak. Her abilities fading away and her form changing back to her dormant form as with one touch Zira was human. Just like when Zira and the others challenged her during their last encounter in Utopia.
“My world, my rules.”

“You always have to learn the hard way, don't you?”
Zira smacked Luca's hand off her shoulder but by then it was too late, the Seductress' will had already began to process and a great wave of weakness overflowed in the Firebird's body. The flames were extinguished and her human shell returned to her. Smoke covered the parts of her body that were surrounded by flames as thankfully her long raven-black hair grew back and covered up her private parts, now hunched down and hugging herself on the floor of the castle a mortal.

Luca Valentine offered Zira her hand and then helped her up and onto the piano bench as with a simple thought the Paradox clothed the Firebird, returning the signature sleeveless black leather shirt, black leather jacket with orange and red flame designs on the back and sleeves and matching leather black pants and shoes. Smiling towards her lovingly even in spite of her recent lashing out.
“There, now that you've had time to settle down are you ready to talk like adults? Are you sure you don't want anything?”

Zira said nothing as Luca helped her up to her feet. What could she say? What could she do? The Paradox was in control of everything around them and all she could do was endure. The Firebird had expected for Luca to indulge herself in her already naked body but instead she sat her down and clothed her. Why Zira did not know. She was mortal now, cut off from her telepathy and her empathy. There was nothing but silence in her mind as she couldn't even sense passing emotions in the people who walked by out in the hall. It was both relieving and terrifying to hear so much silence. That was until Luca Valentine broke it.
“There, now that you've had time to settle down are you ready to talk like adults? Are you sure you don't want anything?”
"I have nothing to say to you. I loved you, I foolishly thought that for the first time in your miserable existence your love for me wasn't a lie. But I was wrong. You can't love. You're incapable of feeling the emotion. No lover of any world could toss their other aside in the cold matter you did me. I have every right to be angry at you. So enough games. Rape me, kill me, just do whatever you're going to do and get it over with!"

“I thought you had nothing to say to me.”
Luca walked over to one of the chairs in the room and dragged it over near the bench and sat down on it next to Zira.
“I'm not going to do anything to you. You're free to leave this place when you see fit. Your powers will be restored when you do.”
The Paradox then took Zira by the hand and held it gently, fully expecting Zira to slap her hand away before long.
“I am capable of love, Zira. I did what I did out of love. I knew, though I did not wish to believe it, that we would end up on opposite sides. I thought if I made you hate me, truly despise me, it would be easier for you. Tell me I'm wrong. Tell me you are not stronger now because of what I did.”

Zira did indeed slap Luca's hand away and stood up in shock at what came from the Paradox's lips. Whether it was true or not was irrelevant, either way you looked at it it was horrible and Zira slapped her straight across the face for it.
"You think this is easy? You think this is better? This is not better! This is not what someone in love does! I nearly killed EVERYONE on Jherra! If it hasn't been for whoever came onto the scene to stop that flood there wouldn't be a Jherra left and everyone would be dead because of me! You always had the choice. Instead of abandoning your plans to merge the realms and be with me you chose to betray me. No matter what way you want to spin it there were no reason for it. NONE! Congratulations your plan worked like a charm. I can hardly stand to look at you!"
Zira turned around and exercised her right to leave as she headed for the exit of the music room.

Luca held onto her cheek, the hand print still red hot on her face as she looked over to Zira heading for the door.
“I did it to break the cycle, Zira.”
The Paradox finally decided to reveal the truth to Zira, though whether or not she would believe her now remained to be seen.
“I never intended to merge the realms. That was just a smokescreen so the course of events would go as planned. It was a necessary act to ensure victory against The End.”

“I did it to break the cycle, Zira.”
"What?"
“I never intended to merge the realms. That was just a smokescreen so the course of events would go as planned. It was a necessary act to ensure victory against The End.”
The Firebird had a feeling she would regret this but she turned around and looked at Luca with a confused expression on her face.
"What are you talking about?"
