Sincara made it down to the bottom floor of the tower but when she crossed the threshold into the Crystal Expanse she would not be greeted by the crystallized ice and snow that made up this part of Jherra. Instead she would be greeted by dry land and skyscrapers as far as the eye could see with high-tech technology all around her. For a brief moment Sincara thought she was somehow magically transported to Isafaro but that theory was disregarded as soon as she felt the rays of the dual suns shinning down on her head.
Sincara drew her Six Shooter and held it tightly in her right hand as her eyes scanned the area. She didn't know how and she didn't know why but the civilization lost to a frozen wasteland years before she was born, the city said to be Isafaro technological equal, has been restored and the Crystal Expanse no more.
The whole thing stank.

The journey to the Crystal Expanse has proven more tasking than any of them could have predicted. Halfway there and they were greeted by a great flood that forced them to run for their lives but the flood was then pulled up into the sky by a mysterious force up above and then it vanished. Many of the Kari refugees with them called it a miracle, Zora suspected it was magic. Neither of them would know for sure until they reached the expanse but when they did it wasn't the Crystal Expanse anymore.
It was a city.
The city immediately reminded her of Isafaro and as a result she got out her wand but the others were shouting out praises to the being up above that has long since faded away as they claimed their once lost civilization has been restored. As they were doing that Zora saw Sincara up ahead and pointed her wand towards her.
“Put the weapon down.”

Kain could not believe his eyes. He came to the Crystal Expanse for the tower but instead found his nation, his country, Kari back on its feet after being buried underneath the Crystal Expanse for so long. Whatever caused that flood must have melted the rest of the crystal ice and freed his country so it could once again flourish in this new world. No doubt Isafaro and their allies would be here soon as their old rivals return to the fray to fight another day. There was no time to lose. "Listen to me!" he called out to the others. "Search the city and make sure everything is as it was. After it is secured we will return to the camp and tell the refugees that Kari has risen!" The soldiers split up and began searching the city as Kain followed Zora over to the entrance of the tower, or should he say his tower, and saw the girl she had a wand aimed at. "Identify yourself."

Gabrielle had to fight back the fear of the unknown that crept up behind her back and into her body at the sight of the skyscrapers all around them that stretched out to the sky, overshadowed only by the colossal tower dubbed the Downward Spiral. It was not like Jherrazad which reminded her a mix of many places she has been, instead it was more like the Crystal Expanse where she was in awe at her surroundings and surpassed it as for the first time since coming here the Battling Bard of Potidaea truly felt like she did not belong.
Her attention then went over to Zora who had already found someone to point that stick of hers at. Gabrielle walked over to the witch's side and gently laid a hand on her shoulder, running it down her arm and lowering Zora's wand before looking over to Sincara. "It's all right. We're not going to hurt you. Can you tell us what happened here? We saw a great force of energy rise from the top of the tower. Was it responsible for all of this?"

Sincara kept the weapon held on Zora, the barrel aimed for her chest and ready to fire at the slightest hint of movement.
"After you."
The stare down continued even after another person joined the scene and demanded that she identify herself. Sincara would do so while neither lowering her weapon nor taking her eyes off the girl that opposed her.
"Sincara."
After the older man a young woman came onto the scene and lowered the brunette's wand herself. Sincara returned the favor by lowering her own weapon but was prepared to raise it back up and shoot if the girl opposite of her decided to make any bold moves. Sincara could only shake her head at Gabrielle's question.
"I was inside the lower levels of the tower during most of the battle so I do not know. All I do know is the woman behind this conflict has been slain and her army retreated."

"After you."
“Don't try me, muggle!”
"Identify yourself."
"Sincara."
“Sincara?” mocked Zora. “What kind of name is Sincara?”
Zora stopped when she felt Gabrielle's hand on her shoulder and watched as she lowered her wand prompting an raised eyebrow from the witch.
"It's all right. We're not going to hurt you."
Speak for yourself! thought Zora.
"Can you tell us what happened here? We saw a great force of energy rise from the top of the tower. Was it responsible for all of this?"
"I was inside the lower levels of the tower during most of the battle so I do not know. All I do know is the woman behind this conflict has been slain and her army retreated."
“Woman? What woman?”

Kain listened to the girl introduce herself as Sincara and then replied with his introduction. "I am Kain, leader of the Free Republic of Kari. The city you and the Downward Spiral now resides in." By default the tower was Kari's property and no doubt the opposing nations would be on them like clock work. They needed to clear the area and start rebuilding as fast as possible if they would to have any chance of defending themselves from the battle to come. "We would appreciate any information you can provide on what has happened here."

Gabrielle gave Zora a stern look to let her know that she wasn't messing around and if she tried raising that wand at Sincara again the Battling Bard of Potidaea would disarm her herself. Gabrielle listened to Sincara speak and waited for her to go into more detail, if there were any, as per Kain's request.

"I know who you are."
Replied Sincara, returning the Six Shooter to her holster and ignoring the other girl as she was being held back by the blonde that joined them.
"We read about you in History class. Leader of the ninth platoon in Isafaro back when President Alan Po was in charge. You defected and helped form Kari after General Vulture removed Alan Po from power and turned Isafaro into a military dictatorship because he didn't want to share Isafaro's technology with the rest of the world. You were at war with them that soon ended when one of your weapons backfired and caused the city to freeze, forming the Crystal Expanse."
Sincara could recite the lesson from memory, the Isafaro/Kari conflict being a personal favorite of hers in History and it looked like the conflict was about to be renewed with this new life that has been breathed into the land.
"If my calculations are correct, since that was 150 years ago, that would make you 210 years old."
And he didn't look a day pass 50.
"The woman behind the attack was a vampire by the name of Maricul. You, Kain, would know her as The Seductress. I know very little of her army aside from the fact they come from a world called Utopia, a world created by the remnants of worlds that was destroyed one year ago. A lot has changed since you've been away."

In order to get Gabrielle off her back the Young Witch put her wand back into the pocket of her Slytherin robes and side step a couple of steps away from the Battling Bard, not wanting to be close to her right now. They were fighting.
"I am Kain, leader of the Free Republic of Kari. The city you and the Downward Spiral now resides in."
"I know who you are. We read about you in History class. Leader of the ninth platoon in Isafaro back when President Alan Po was in charge. “Oh, so you're a know-it-all too? This should be fun,” Zora said sarcastically, being reminded of Hermione Granger from Hogwarts and how much of an annoying know-it-all she was. But at least Hermione was a witch, filthy muggle blood notwithstanding. Sincara didn't even have that working for her.
"If my calculations are correct, since that was 150 years ago, that would make you 210 years old."
“What!?”
Zora looked up to Kain in shock, if he was a wizard she wouldn't have been so surprised but since he was a muggle it was different. A muggle living that long was unheard of where she came from.
“How the hell did you pull that off?”
"We would appreciate any information you can provide on what has happened here."
"The woman behind the attack was a vampire by the name of Maricul. You, Kain, would know her as 'The Seductress.' I know very little of her army aside from the fact they come from a world called Utopia, a world created by the remnants of worlds that was destroyed one year ago. “Another vampire? Well this place is just crawling with them, isn't it?”
And once again Zora would be denied the pleasure of meeting a real live vampire. Bugger.

Kain nodded. The child was well groomed on her history and her calculations were correct. His reply was hold off momentarily only by the shocked reaction of the witch by his side. "Thanks to the cryostasis. Though our technology is capable of slowly reducing the aging process none of us has ever tried it." Vulture on the other hand was all too happy to cheat nature. He never did understand that there were some acts of God you just didn't interfere with. That would be his greatest downfall. Kain was familiar with the legend of the Seductress. The myth of a young beautiful woman who preyed on men, luring them out of their beds and drinking their blood. His people called her a succubus. He had thought it a myth at first until the Seductress came knocking on his doorstep. "It's amazing she lived this long. Indeed, things have changed. Perhaps you can catch me up to date. You can start with the second sun in the sky."

Zora tucked away the wand and stepped away from her which was just fine. Them traveling together didn't mean that the child had to be right by her side at all times, Gabrielle was just happy that Zora didn't begin a needless fight with Sincara who now began telling some of Genesis' vast history and easily earned the attention of the Battling Bard of Potidaea with her story.
Gabrielle was amazed by the story, the parts of it she could understand anyway. This place was truly diverse, not just in land but with what each city could do. Isafaro and Kari were head over shoulders superior to Jherrazad, which was the closest place to a town she's been to in the past with Xena by far since coming here. Though Gabrielle didn't know what cryostasis, she was no stranger to being frozen in ice as the passed her by. That was one thing she had in common with Kain and the refugees of Kari.
When they got on the subject of Maricul Gabrielle was finally back in familiar territory again. "She must have been some leader to cause all this."

"I don't believe her to be dead."
It felt too easy, too convenient. No doubt there was a greater reason why the course of events took the route they did and Sincara would not be surprised at all to learn that Maricul was still alive and would become an even more formidable opponent for the people of Genesis later. Until then she was not their primary concern. Tajna Rasha and the Arashi were.
"It's a long story, Kain, and one I'd rather discuss with you in private. In the mean time I request permission to join you in securing the area."

"Thanks to the cryostasis. Though our technology is capable of slowly reducing the aging process none of us has ever tried it."
“Cyrostasis? Explain.”
"It's amazing she lived this long. Indeed, things have changed. Perhaps you can catch me up to date. You can start with the second sun in the sky."
“Then you can explain how Gabrielle and I were brought here from our respective realms and how we can go about getting back.”
"She must have been some leader to cause all this."
“Wasn't much of a leader if she got herself killed.”
"I don't believe her to be dead."
“What makes you think that?”
"It's a long story, Kain, and one I'd rather discuss with you in private. In the mean time I request permission to join you in securing the area."
“Anything you can say to Kain can be said to us.”

"Cryostasis." Kain corrected Zora. "The act of cooling to sub zero temperatures. It preserves the body and prevents it from aging." At Sincara's request Kain nodded yes. "Permission granted. Zora, you will join Sincara in investigating the west side of the city while Gabrielle and I head north to the edge of the city. Come, Gabrielle." He said as he headed off to the north.
