"Because he's not my uncle!" Meryl shouted, rising up to her feet and delivering a kick kicking the toilet seat up before punching the wall. Tears dripping down her cheeks as she leaned her forehead up against the wall, right above where she punched it. "He had an affair with my mother. And that affair made me." And the shocking truth was revealed. The man she thought to be her uncle, the man she loved and admired, was her father. Her cheating, lying father.

"Because he's not my uncle!"
Drake took a couple of steps back as Meryl started kicking and punching her surroundings, taken aback by the declaration that the Colonel was not her uncle.
"He had an affair with my mother. And that affair made me."
“The Colonel's your father?”
Drake didn't know the old man had it in him.
“How long have you known?”

Meryl only nodded to Drake when he asked her to confirm the obvious and wiped a tear away on her arm before answering his next question. "Before I landed myself in this mess. He asked me to come by his place last week and he told me there. I was so angry. How could he look me in the face and lie to me all those years? How could he do that to his own brother? How could my own mother... He's not the man I admired. He's not and never has been!"

“Meryl, he's your father...”
Drake couldn't relate to her situation but he knew and understood the importance of family. Ayanna and Zach were the closest thing to a brother and a sister he's ever had and it pained both Ayanna and he the day they lost Zach to their own people.
“More importantly none of this is going to matter if you're executed for treason. If the Colonel can help us then I'm asking for his help. End of discussion.”

"He's not my father!" shouted Meryl as she turned to face Drake once more. "My father was a proud soldier of the Crimson Vulture, a loving and devoted husband and father of one. Not a lying cheat who went around behind people's backs!" At Drake's decision to include Campbell anyway Meryl exploded on him. "Go ahead! Disregard my feelings and do what you want! That what you do anyways! It what you always do!"

“All right, he's not your father. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything. None of my business anyway.”
"Go ahead! Disregard my feelings and do what you want! That what you do anyways! It what you always do!"
Drake had just about walked out of the door when Meryl said that. Stopping halfway through and not even turning his head to look back at the woman.
“If you're done PMSing I'd like to go save your life now.”
And with that Drake took his leave, leaving Meryl alone in her cell in order to blow off some much needed steam.
