Kasey slowly opened her eyes, blinking a couple times to get her vision back to normal, before shooting up into a sitting position from where she had been laying on the ground.
"Okay this definately isn't Los Angeles." She commented to no one in particular as she rose to her feet, her eyes scanning the expanse of the field she found herself in. There was no sign of the plane she had been flying across country in when she had fallen asleep. "Where the hell am I?"
She spots a pillar of smoke coming up from over a hill in the distance, and begins walking in that direction, hoping to find someone who could tell her where she was.
She stopped as she reached the top of the hill and saw a small village a little ways off from where she was standing, and starts to walk down the path towards it. As she goes, she gets the feeling that she's being watched and it greatly disturbs her that she can't lock in on whatever it is like she normally could.

Grey Everlost was once again proving his namesake was more than coincidence; his lack of any sort of direction making room for more prudent methods of exploring rather than simple travel. Having been spending the night sleeping in a rather comfortable tree, he awoke to someone nearby remarking about a "lost angoles". Trying to recall having read anything of the sort in the library which he'd called home, he shook his head.
"Tch, the miniature woke me from my nap . . . what a nuisance." He muttered, growling a little in displeasure. His long magic coat, which concealed an unbeleive amount of any item the youthful man had found (it's innate ability to copy items of any size to be used at any given moment had more than once shocked opponents before). His darker hair and rather plain face wasn't much to look at, apart from light blue eyes, which seemed to flash occasionally if looked upon long enough. His pistol, with a slightly longer barrel and several runes carved into the metal-work was already in his hand, and his almost overbearing scythe was hauntingly at the youth's right grip.
Leaping from his perch, he fired a small bullet at the ground before the girl, and when he got up from landing, shrugged and sighed with a great melencholy. "You know, it's a real nuisance when you wake a reaper from his nap." He said simply, and slammed the blade down deep into the ground and stood on the shaft rather menacingly.
"Now who, and what, are you?" He said, and his rather handsome smirk raced across that now wicked face of his.

Kasey jumped a couple feet as the bullet impacted the ground, her eyes wide as they fell on her attacker, a dark haired man standing in a tree. She takes another step back as the man jumps down, sinking his blade deep into the ground.
"I'm Kasey.." the teenage Mai replies to his question, staring nervously at the gun in his hand. "I wasn't looking for trouble, honest, I've somehow gotten lost."
She looks past the gun, and meets the man's eyes, trying to present a more confident demeanor than she currently felt. She still had no idea where she was and how she'd gotten there from the airplane.

Grey rather hauntingly chuckled, which quickly changed to full laughter. He shook his head, and even held his sides and stood back a little.
"Lost? That's normally my line, you know?" Grey chuckling and shrugging a little. After he'd gotten over the fact that he finally had found someone as clueless as he was when it came to directions, he ripped the scythe up from the ground, and it disappeared into bursts of light to the sleeve of his arm; his gun following afterwards. Shaking his head and turning his back, he lightly motioned to the young woman to follow him; the top of a hill not far from thier position.
"You're an amusing one, so I'll suppose you're new to the 'Joining'. This whole world is one big mess. Pity it's dragged you in here too; don't look like you've much in the way of protection. You know any magic?" Grey said, his voice impossibly serious given his earlier outburst and relaxed nature. He seemed at edge; something in the distance it seemed, or maybe just the words he'd spoken annoyed him? With Grey, it was hard to ever tell.

Kasey shook her head at the man's question if she knew any magic. She had heard of a couple witches living in the town that she had been planning on going to college in, but had never actually met any spellcasters personally.
"I can protect myself well enough, at least where I came from." Kasey tells the man, holding her hand out and extending the razor claws from her finger tips, showing it to the man. "Where are we anyways, and how can I get home?"

Grey shook his head and the menacing scythe came back; his eyes flashed suddenly, and he turned.
"Home is here, and there, and everywhere. Since the joining, all worlds have become one; those who survived are it's inhabitants, and those who have not . . . well, they no longer exist at all."
He readied his scythe, and chuckled - His gun drawn and ready. He fired two shots at her; but moved so fast that before she could even flinch, he brought the scythe up to throat. The bullets rebounded off the metal, and his smirk was scarily menacing. "You're too slow, and need to work on your reflexes. Learn some magic; seems almost anyone can." He stated. A second Grey appeared behind suddenly, and a 3rd and 4th also, each with scythes as sharp as the harsh words. Each had thier weapons around a vital area; Grey 2 had her arm and mid body, Grey 3 her legs, and Grey 4 her lower body.
They disappeared, and Grey released her, and sighed. "No where near fast enough, you see. You would have been a pile of bloody ribbons if it weren't me."

Kasey's eyes widen almost impossibly as the man comes within a breath of taking her head off with the scythe he carries and is in a state of shock as three more appear around her and she feels cold metal pressed against her in several spot, cutting lightly into her before the other three disappear.
She nods her head dumbly at the man's next words about how easy it would have been to kill her, her eyes still wide as she trembles slightly as she comes out of the shock and realizes just how truly screwed she is.
"It's not like I asked to be here." She mumbles, watching as the man starts to walk off, while she remains in the spot she was the whole time. "Wait, where are you going?"
She takes a quick look around her to try and detect any other dangers to her person and then starts after the man, hoping he wouldn't go the extra mile if he attacked again.

Grey motioned with his chin what lay ahead of them; a massive tower that defied explanation, the darkness seeping from it as the top lay deathly ominous. It scared even the stalwart and confident Grey, and he detested all it stood for, if only in his eyes.
"Away from that. It's not a pretty site, and it feels un-natural. Even the library has no mention of it, or anything here, and that worried me as well, don't worry. Still, so long as we stay away from anything too dangerous, we should be fine. I say we, because you're too useless on your own, and I'm too lazy to collect firewood."
Grey smirked, and chuckled lightly at himself, lying on the hill and relaxing. His body was sprawled rather lazily all over the grass and his expression was what you'd expect on an innocent child; not some man with a large scythe and pistol travelling and seeming rather menacing at the least.

Kasey fought back an angry retort at the man's casual dismissal of her, citing uselessness, grumbling to herself as she walked off from where he had laid down, deeper into the woods to find suitable kindling for a fire.
She finds a dead tree half fallen against another, and using her claws and Mai strength, she shreds up the wood over the next twenty minutes and then begins to carry the dry pieces back to where she left the man in the clearing that they'd stopped in.
She drops the heavy pile of branches onto the ground a few feet from where the man is still laying down, then moves off to go get more, stopping after a few feet at the sound of the man's voice behind her.

"Hey, that'll do. I wasn't being serious about getting fire wood. What a nuisance." Grey sat up and arranged the wood, and struck it cleverly with the handle of his pistol; it lit the wood using the friction generated. He shook his head, and sighed. "Now, you want to live, you'll do as I say, got it? Try to escape, and you'll die. Try to steal from me and get caught, and you die. And if I tell you to do something, do it like your life depends on it. Partially because it does. "
Grey's smirk came back, and his eyes flashed mischievously. he waved his scythe around and pulled out a small piece of bread for himself. "You want some?" Grey asked, and he reached into his coat held it out rather casually, motioning her to take it.
"And if you want to live, I suggest you eat the food I give you. Understood?"

The nineteen year old Mai stood silently for a moment as the man told her his expectations for her, Kasey's mouth slipping open in a silent 'o' of disbelief as he more or less announced himself as her new 'owner'.
"Hell with this." She curses, meeting the eyes of the man for the briefest of moments before she turns and pours all her energy into a hasty flight, pushing her enhanced speed to the breaking point as she attempted to escape this bizarre dream, or at least what she hoped was all just a bad dream.
She doesn't get much further than the edge of the clearing before something hits her from behind, wrapping around her legs and sending her sprawling to the ground with a thud and a cry of pain.

Grey's rather ornate scythe was at her feet before she could get far; and a bullet exploded after Grey uttered a single word, the explosion launching her off the ground, and back into the youths rather unpleasant melee weapon; his speed unmatched combined with the enchated bullets of his pistol easily out maneuvering the young woman as she tried to escape.
Using the flat of his blade, he led her to her rather shaky feet, and grinned. "Cute. Next time, I won't be so merciful. I'd hate to lose something so useful as you to something as dangerous as wolves, or demons, or some thug that treats you a lot worse than I will."
Grey's smile vanished as he lightly brought the scythe to scratch her cheek. He walked back to his spot and sat back down, eating his bread; and took the other piece of bread from the girl.
"For being difficult. Next time, you will die. Got it? I don't like nuisances, and you'd want to hope you're useful."

Kasey choked back a sob as the man led her back to the small fire and she sat on the side opposite him, watching as the man munched on the piece of bread and talking down to her.
She glared at the man as he eats, wishing desperately that she knew how she had ended up in this obvious hell dimension.
The young Mai gives a reluctant nod as he tells her that he will kill her if she tries to escape again, and turns away from her captor, lying down on the hard ground on the other side of the fire. She kept her back to him so he wouldn't see her tears of anger and confusion.

Grey heard the attempt at her preservation of dignity; something he often did as he two barely managed to quietly scold himself. He looked to her lying on the dirt, and sighed as he heard the drops of tears falling on hard soil; he was cold, but not dead. Taking off his coat of many pockets, he threw it onto her roughly, and a small piece of bread and cheese conveniently fell out of an inside pocket right in front of her nose.
"No good to me if you freeze to death. Hurry up and sleep. Early morning, and I need you to do something for me once we find some traders. Hope your nimble with your fingers and good with your charms; you'll need it for tomorrows job."
Grey's words gave no emotions, as he silently mused on his rules; No escape, and doing as she was told; he'd thought himself clever when he'd made it so she could "steal" food from the coats pockets so long as it wasn't too obvious.
"Sleep, else I'll put you to sleep myself. I'll stand guard tonight, and I'm firing a few trap bullets that'll explode once you get too close; you'd have to be trying to escape to get close to them though." Grey explained rather coldly, and his eyes, had she seen them, were chilling beyond death itself.
"So long as you don't end up in pieces by tomorrow morning, I might even give you breakfast. If you're lucky."
