ToriJ: Welcome to the first official DOA panel, I'm ToriJ owner and founder of DOA and I'll be your host. Today panel members are as followed; DOA Hall of Fame member, handler of Miracle and Zira Firestone, Zira. DOA Hall of Fame member, handler of Chloe and Sailor Venus, Chloe. The girl with a magic gun and the pretty hat, Sincara. And our last panel member but certainly not least, the master of the DC Universe and DOA Hall of Fame member, DC Comics.
Zira: Yay!
Chloe: lol
DC Comics: Is your name really Chloe?
Chloe: Yes it is.
DC Comics: Wow.
Zira: I kinda feel bad for Sincara over here because she's the only non Hall of Fame member in the introduction. It's like Hall of Famer, Hall of Famer, Hall of Famer, Sincara.
Sincara: Odd one out.
DC Comics: What you talking about that's her whole gimmick.
Chloe: Zira and Sincara are the only ones with characters who are native to Genesis in this panel.
ToriJ: Bane's a native.
Chloe: Is he?
DC Comics: Yeah.
Chloe: I didn't know that.
DC Comics: Most of Tori's characters are natives too.
Chloe: Now I feel like the odd one out, I don't have any natives to Genesis.
ToriJ: What about Venus?
Chloe: Oh, yeah.
Zira: lol! Brain fart.
Chloe: My brain, it does not work.
DC Comics: You only have two characters to manage, come on!
Chloe: Four
DC Comics: Four? Oh right, I forgot about Kaso and Alexander.
ToriJ: Can I start the topic now?
Sincara: No.
ToriJ: DX
Zira: This is our panel now!
DC Comics: We just let you be a part of it.
ToriJ:
DC Comics: No, go ahead. I'm ready to rant.
ToriJ: Today topic is Aper the Arashi, the first chapter of the site. And what many people may not know about the Arashi plot is that originally it wasn't meant to be a plot at all. Aper's arrival was originally intended as an isolated incident, he was not meant to have any connection with Veran, there was no “The End” at that time. And from there it just exploded into something that's been built up to for a year.
Chloe: Wow.
DC Comics: That doesn't surprise me.
Zira: I helped.
ToriJ: You did. Amoura and I helped with a lot of the Arashi plot.
DC Comics: …. You brought this on yourself!
ToriJ: That's what Gui said!
DC Comics: Well we are twins.
Zira: Lovers!
DC Comics: xD
Zira:
DC Comics: Mainly the reason why this reveal doesn't surprise me, actually I think it's mentioned on the wiki somewhere too, is because that's the whole style of the site. Everything is very 'on the flow' there is no major, definite plans for anything. I mean could Gui have possibly known that in Valley of Death Miracle would play off of his character so well? Could he have known that he would fail in his goals? No. What some members fail to realize, sadly, and what the main issue with The End seems to be in the past, is that they think things are predetermined. But they're not. For as far as we know in the up-coming End plot a opposing group made up of say, Kragen, Utena, Bane, Garrus, Zira Firestone, Chloe and Aminee Starlight could defeat The End. Through clever tactics and team work just stop The End. For all we know.
Zira: It's open-ended.
Chloe: That's the whole appeal. Nobody likes a plot where everything is planned in advanced.
DC Comics: Exactly.
Sincara: I see roleplaying as just one big improv. Except you have a character that you stick to.
ToriJ: I agree. I've been comparing it to an improv for years.
DC Comics: That's another thing that I think players should keep in mind. To see things from the character's prospective. Too often RPiers look at things from their own prospective and they forget that their character is different from them.
Chloe: Like running away from a fight because you don't want to die when your character would otherwise stay and fight.
ToriJ: It's why I never understood the choices of run or fight with The End. As far as the characters are concerned it's the end of the world. Where are they going to go, Seattle?
Chloe: lol!
Zira: End of the world? Party in Seattle!
DC Comics: Fuck Seattle, I'm going to Vegas and get me a hooker.
Zira: Fuck yeah!
ToriJ: I ain't dying a virgin I'll tell you that right now. Someone will have my virginity!
Chloe: Don't look at me, I'm gay.
DC Comics: Don't look at me either, I'm straight.
ToriJ: Somewhere out there a little Gui is crying.
Zira: Looks like it's between you and me Sincara.
Sincara: I leave to fetch me a soda and this is the conversation I walk back to?
DC Comics: Yup!
Chloe: lmao
Zira: Crap, I'm gonna have to do the dirty deed.
Chloe: Take one for the team.
Zira: T_T
ToriJ: So, what were we talking about before?
DC Comics: Something about roleplaying, I don't know.
Sincara: Aper the Arashi.
ToriJ: I'll allow you all to discuss your thoughts on the first chapter as a whole.
Zira: Well when I was leading up to Valley of Death I was being told by virtually everybody, “Don't fight him! Don't fight him! He'll kill you!” And that just made me want to thread with him even more because everyone is saying DON'T DO IT!
Chloe: I can't stand people like that.
DC Comics: I love people like that.
Sincara: Likewise.
DC Comics: They get it into their minds that 'this person' can't be beat and is a danger just to play with and you play with them, stand up to them, even beat them and those people go 'WHOA! Don't fuck with that guy!' I love it.
Sincara: I was told to stay away from people like Maricul and Miracle. I think we all know how that ended.
ToriJ: lol!
DC Comics: Who told you to stay away from them?
Sincara: Utena.
DC Comics: Why doesn't that surprise me?
Chloe: She told you to steer clear, you saw it as a personal challenge and nearly killed them both.
Zira: Meanie
Sincara: …. there needs to be an evil smiley on MSN.
DC Comics: Sincara's smiling, now that's scary.
ToriJ: I hear every time Sincara smiles a puppy dies.
Zira: Puppy killer!
But yeah. Actually Guill and I knew each other for nearly a year before we actually had a thread together. Technically we were in a thread together at Ajerian Wars ran by some friends of Tori's but we didn't actually interact until the Valley of Death and I loved it. I was finally able to show off everything I've learned of the Christian faith and had a character facing me that was inspired by a lot of the same things so it got interesting real quick.
Chloe: I like how Amoura is the first one to get knocked down on her ass.
DC Comics: KNOCKDOWN!
Zira: Poor Amoura.
Sincara: That was my favorite part.
Zira: Super meanie!
DC Comics: Amoura's just a tragedy looking for a place to happen, always.
Chloe: And she's the one people are jealous of for having such a role in the plot, yet at the same time they don't want to experience the same tragedy.
DC Comics: I know! 'I want to be like Amoura just not like her at all!'
Sincara: Amoura lite.
ToriJ: Amoura has officially been comparable to an alcoholic beverage. Amazing.
DC Comics: Now that would make a good General Discussion topic.
Chloe: I always imagined that Amoura is on so much drugs with all the shit she's been through.
Zira: Therapy. Lots, and lots of fucking therapy.
Sincara: Therapy takes time and money, just drink a shrink.
DC Comics: *om nom nom* Ah, yes, yes. I see what I must do to face my problems. Drink.
ToriJ: What was that Amoura the Asian?
DC Comics: Amoura the drunken hobo Asian.
Zira: We're so mean to Amoura.
Chloe: She started it.
DC Comics: And that's why we love her.
ToriJ: Let's talk about strategy for a minute. When it comes to facing something like Aper what kind of strategy would you have going in, or what would you suggest to others if faced with something that rivals that of a character like Aper?
DC Comics: Run.
Zira: lol
Chloe: XD
Sincara: Run, run as fast as you can.
ToriJ: I'm looking for things like fighting moves, tactics.
DC Comics: Running is a pretty good tactic. Saved my ass plenty of times.
ToriJ:
Zira: The Arashi are definitely not something you want to face by yourself, I believe Guill designed them that way to require a group effort. As strong and resourceful as Miracle and everyone in the group that faced Aper were on their own, had any one of them fought Aper one on one I think you would have seen a far less favorable outcome for the protagonists.
Chloe: I agree.
Sincara: Agreed.
DC Comics: No question. I feel we're part of a rather small, elite group of people who don't see the Arashi as unbeatable opponents, but if you take them head on you're going to lose every time. That's suicide. We saw Amoura, Sparda, Dante, Kyal, Clash, all strong characters, take Aper head on in the Valley of Death and that amounted to nothing. It was Miracle, Solomon and Maricul who did the most damage, Miracle matched him and verbally abused him for a good while there until he got the last word in. Solomon took Aper's own destruction and used it as an escape route to get the people out and Maricul redirected his own power against him. That was smart.
Sincara: You have to outmaneuver them.
DC Comics: Absolutely.
Zira: I don't know if I would say Miracle matched him as much as she just survived, partly through dumb luck and another part through Yahweh being conflicted.
DC Comics: Miracle took what Aper threw at her and came back around, okay, that's matching him move for move.
ToriJ: The first chapter in itself is proof that the Arashi can be beat because Aper didn't succeed in any of his goals.
Chloe: He couldn't kill the people or destroy the tower.
DC Comics: I was about to say. Aper going supernova was basically a last ditch effort by him to kill the refugees and maintain the balance. All or nothing.
Zira: Aper didn't break Miracle's faith either.
ToriJ: So that's three. It wasn't your traditional victory where Aper is laying on the ground and you have your arm raised but it counts.
DC Comics: That's another thing that always bothers me, is that some people assume that winning means either killing the opponent or dominating them completely in a physical contest but winning isn't limited by those two definitions. If your enemy has an objective and you can keep them from achieving those objectives you won. Hands down you won. It doesn't matter if you kill the enemy or beat them to a bloody pulp in the process, you won.
ToriJ: We kinda did kill Aper in chapter one too.
DC Comics: Well yeah, you made him self destruct. And when you think about what it was these characters were facing that in itself is a huge achievement. I'm sure Gui didn't see that one coming either.
ToriJ: I didn't see it coming. I was just throwing shit at the wall hoping it'd stick, half the time I don't know what I'm doing out there.
Chloe: Stick! Stick! Stick!
Zira: Teehee.
ToriJ: It makes sense now but while I was writing it I don't know why I was writing it, I just wrote it.
Sincara: Instincts.
ToriJ: Instincts?
Sincara: You trusted your instincts.
DC Comics: And it paid off. That's why I always tell people to trust their instincts.
Chloe: If you can count millions and millions and millions of worlds being destroyed by a supernova paying off, then yes. Your instincts paid off.
Zira: Your instincts killed us all!
ToriJ: I sorry
DC Comics: You gotta take what you can get in a bad situation. Because had Aper succeeded you would have ended up with a broken Miracle, no tower, no shroud and no way to stop the Arashi once and for all.
Sincara: You'd have no End either.
DC Comics: True, but at most that would have stalled The End. It wouldn't have stopped it entirely, only prolong the inevitable.
Chloe: But if the shroud is what manifests The End then had Aper succeeded there would be no shroud for Amoura to put on.
DC Comics: It would have been found eventually and with Maricul getting it in Utopia, better the devil you know than the devil you don't.
ToriJ: How many of you can we expect to see in the dramatic conclusion of the Arashi plot with The End?
Zira: Count me in for sure. Miracle and Zira. I might have to play them both on the same account to keep from unnecessary account jumping.
Chloe: It wouldn't make any sense for Chloe not to be there with everything that happened to her so far. Might be a good place to introduce Venus too.
DC Comics: I'll be there with bells on.
Sincara: I originally wanted Aper or Veran but I'll settle for The End.
DC Comics: I love your attitude. 'I'll settle for The End'
Sincara: I'm not easily intimidated.
Chloe: Apocalypse? Psh!
Zira: The same old tricks, why should we care?
ToriJ: LOL!
DC Comics: XD
Sincara: There's nothing we can't face...
Chloe: Except for bunnies.
DC Comics: Let's hope The End doesn't manifest into a bunny then.
Zira: All hope is lost!
ToriJ: How many of you would care if your character is killed off in the event?
DC Comics: I wouldn't care. For starters, these aren't my characters. Furthermore, I have a whole universe of characters I can bring in and AU versions of characters so I'm not losing much.
Zira: It's not so much me caring as it is other people caring and rioting on the streets.
ToriJ: You know you're loved when your friends are willing to perform senseless acts of violence for you.
Zira: lol, yeah.
Chloe: I don't care if Chloe dies it's just a matter of it's actually happening. I decide these things on the moment so I can't make any promises either ways. If it happens, it happens.
DC Comics: I never understood why this is an issue because the way the site is setup you can just bring in an AU of your character, or you can have a series of side quest in the Downward Spiral with that character as they were in the main story without affecting the main story. So really you aren't losing anything.
ToriJ: People get attached to their characters.
DC Comics: Well I know and I can understand that but with the site's setup it doesn't matter if your character is killed it's not going to be the last you use of them unless you want it to be.
ToriJ: Sincara, what about you?
Sincara: They're welcomed to try.
Chloe: lol!
Zira: Good answer. lol
DC Comics: Bring it on, motherfucker! WHAM!
ToriJ: The Arashi plot will no doubt be remembered as one of, if not the, greatest storyarcs in DOA long after it's over. We're already a year in and people are still talking about the first chapter.
DC Comics: It had all the right elements going in to produce something special and the people who understood it, like Chloe, Sincara, Zira, Fukari, Sparda, Amoura, everyone, were able to make it that much more meaningful. It had everything; action, drama, suspense, horror, explosions, etc. etc.

DC Comics: You didn't think we were going to stay on topic, did you? We're mental!
Zira: Krazy with a K.
Sincara: I don't know what you guys are talking about I'm a perfectly normal little girl.
Chloe: Bullshit!
ToriJ: lol!
I'd like to thank you all for being here I really enjoyed it. Thanks to everyone for reading, this is the DOA Panel signing off.
Zira: Yay!
