A Night like any Other (Open)

Kailix sadly shook his head. The problem with their weapons had never been a matter of distance it had been a matter of strength. Something they still seemed to not understand even now. Perhaps the other might, but as for the Private it seemed she didn’t have the slightest clue. Man he really would be doing Isafaro a favor if he got rid of her, but it would be too much of a mess. Besides this was funner.

”Have it your way then Private.” he said shrugging. He wasn’t quite sure of what to do about it though. At any rate one thing was for sure. The records of today would need to be destroyed. Video records that was. Kailix smiled as he sent a small magical signal out to someone he had placed an action in long ago.

Not only would this tape be destroyed, but to avoid suspicion as many of them would be as he could before finally either dying or taking his own life. Good work for any side was so hard to find these days, but Meryl was nothing if not loyal. He suddenly appeared in front of her his Katar’s held one pointed at her throat lightly pricking it as his other moved with enough force to break bone to knock her weapon out of her hand.

He chuckled as he withdrew his weapons and jumped back a bit before turning around having every intention on leaving. ”Too fun. I’ll let you go for now.” he said. Even if those actions missed he had enjoyed this little, exercise might be the right word, but his barrier still never dropped. ”I’ll see you around Private.” he said a hint of sarcasm in his voice as he said Private. Although he doubted she would let him go just like that after this whole thing. He was counting on it in fact. He had already reached the end of the alleyway by then. If she wanted to stop him she would have to chase him.

[Meryl Silverburgh]

Meryl's heart skipped a beat before it began pounding louder from within her chest. She was disarmed and the man's weapon was pressed up against her throat, ready to prick at flesh and bone but instead he chose to pull away. Why she couldn't be sure but why didn't matter where your own life was concerned. Defeated, Meryl fell down to her knees and bowed her head in shame. She didn't even try to follow him. There was no point to. She's already proven incapable of handling the situation in her own eyes. Pulling out her radio she did the only sensible thing she could do now. "We need assistance. Men wounded." Call for help.

Kailix lightly turned his head when he hears Meryl’s words. Oh, the fun was over so soon? He was just starting to enjoy it. A frown crossed his face, but he did have one last surprise for her before he left. He let out a shrug as he turned back to the Private. ”Try not to follow my example to much Private. he said. Of course she wasn’t supposed to know what that meant. He was however changing the memories of her squad members.

In their mind Kailix had never been there or even existed. With the tapes gone it was just Meryl with her own story. That did however leave the question of what happened tonight. Of course her men would be out for a while. That disk he had given them earlier came flying into his hands. They would remember the disk from that night. Meryl’s reluctance to engage the now dead man in place of her reluctance to engage Kailix.

And then of course the disk was gone and the only person left standing from the encounter was Meryl. Kailix let out a small chuckle as he tipped his hat to her as he turned back around took a single step and vanish. There were plenty of blank spots in what he had just done, but her squad already had a dislike of her being the leader. As such it made it easier for negative thoughts to grow.

And, the mind could justify anything it wanted. The guided conclusion the remaining squad would come to is that Meryl betrayed them, and if all of them remembered it the military would have no choice, but to act on it. To at the very least investigate it. Kailix let out a smile. All that was left to do now was sit back, relax, and enjoy the fireworks. And oh how he was going to enjoy this little….development. However since that was still in future that left time in the present to cause even more havoc. Perhaps this disk should fall in Resistance hands, or maybe just destroy it. He wasn't sure yet.
