Unexpected Visitor [Bane]

Darius took a look around. Bane it seemed had an interesting mind. His base was at the very least somewhat hidden. However Bane had something he had to discuss with Bane. Something Mariucl had tried to discuss with him about the tower. Things Bane had either not thought of or that he cared for. Maricul still had much to learn in her new state however. Sometimes words and thoughts influenced much more then actions could ever hope to accomplish.

Darius’ presence as usual was unannounced. He was however waiting for him to return. He however meant Bane no harm, for the moment. He had simply come to talk. Of course Bane should be able to tell that by the fact Darius wasn’t attempting to hide instead standing in the open. Of course, Bane would be hard pressed to know anything of Darius. He wasn’t one to go out to large crowds which gave Darius another advantage.

Bane was an intelligent man. He would believe logic. At least Darius hoped at the least he would. That did however beg the question of how much did he really know about the forces he was attempting to curve. It was difficult for one to bother with things they never knew about to begin with. Sometimes such things had deadly consequences, but that was exactly what Bane was attempting to do.

It wouldn't be long at all before the 6'8, 300 pound plus behemoth with the cunning mind stood before Darius, facial expression covered by his trademark black and white mask with the red eyes aimed towards the Time Lord. No one has been able to find this location since it was originally built by Bane himself so either this man was crafty or not of this world. There was but only one way to find out.

"Is there a reason you're standing where you shouldn't be so casually?"

Darius was not one to rush things, so he waited patiently for Bane’s return, however fortunately for him he did not need to wait long as the man soon appeared. His face betrayed nothing of what he was thinking. Something Darius had expected. There were few places where it would be considered Darius shouldn’t be standing, but in a way the man had a point. There was only so much a broken man could do.

He didn’t verbalize any of it however. ”We need to talk, Bane.” he said quietly. Bane might not like the reality of it, but Darius answer didn’t give a hint as to how he got here or even if he had always known it existed. He merely stated a fact. Where he came from and what he was would matter little in the long run.

It was interesting that the man choice to set his base up so close to the Arashi’s first appearance, but still he understood so little about the forces he meant to tamper with. Darius hoped that he would be able to at least explain part of that to him, if not all of it. That however might take some time. ”If Amoura was to vanish it is your intention to destroy the tower is it not?” he asked. He was perhaps being a bit forward, but for now he would offer his name. It was common curtsey. ”My name is Darius.” he said giving him a slight nod. The best greeting the other would probably get.

"Who wants to know?"

Bane didn't move any closer to the man but he was prepared to react to any form of attack that the man would make should he plan to do so. His plan did involve destroying the tower if Amoura failed but not before correcting the imbalance that the paradox at the Battle for Aircano caused roughly eight months ago.

"Darius. Ah, yes. The one Maricul talked about. Go on."

It seemed Bane at the very least wished to know who he was speaking to before he began disclosing any of his future plans. Perhaps not even then, but Darius didn’t need him to answer to know what he was planning. It was merely a formality as he tried to get some form of dialogue going between the two. Despite even the best logic, if someone refused to believe it there was no way to force them to believe it as true.

He wasn’t aware he had left an imprint on Maricul in their brief encounters. That was something for another time however, that wan’t the reason for his visit nor did he wish for it to be the focal point of it. It seemed he knew of the Battle of Aircano. But Darius wondered how much of it Bane knew. Before he went further in this conversation he would need to know.

”Tell me, how much do you truly know of what transpired at the Battle of Aircano.” he said. It wasn’t a demand, merely a request. As such his tone reflected such a thing. If either was to start demanding things, this conversation would end quickly. As it were he knew Bane would still be wary of him, but Darius hadn’t exactly done anything to earn it yet.

"Why not save us both the trouble and just skip to the parts I have wrong?"

Bane was ready to hear him out but he saw little point to recite what he knew the other already knew but if it would move the conversation along so be it. He walked over to the large computer in the room used to observe the rest of the Crystal Expanse and began punching in commands to investigate the current state of the melted region which has created more desert area as a result. He suspected a territory war between Jhezzard and the remnants of Kari soon. It all depended on Chloe.

"The Battle for Aircano was the greatest example of Yahweh's schizophrenia. Both sides fought for Lord Yahweh while at the same time fighting against him. That is why Miracle and Aper were so evenly matched despite everything else pointing to an easy victory for the Second Aspect. The combine force of so much power coming into the same place destroyed the dimensional barriers hurling the universe into chaos, thus the paradox was created."

He now waited for Darius to point out everything wrong in that explanation.

It also seemed Bane knew he wasn’t here for a fight as he began to bring up scenes from the area on his computer. Darius listened to him recount what it was he knew. While he was well informed about the battle it seemed he knew little of the causes or effects it had on them. It was a starting point for the conversation however. Now that Veran had appeared however it became all the more critical that Bane truly knew what it was he was wanting to tinker with.

”Indeed the battle truly was one of misunderstandings on both sides. However that also worked in favor of those who sought to further their own power from such a thing.” he said. Of course now he was referring to Mariucl who supposedly proclaimed it was all her doing, but that was a debate for another time and another place, but not here and now.

”However you are mistaken about the barriers between realms and dimensions. They have always been a weak fragile thing.” he said as he held up his hand as a portal would appear inside Bane’s lair. It would stay there for a few seconds before Darius let it fade. It was just a demonstration of how easily they could be broken. ”During t he battle Maricul broke these barriers, ensuring that Aper had no choice but to use his power forever keeping him in place to seal them off. The Arashi will not act unless there is an imbalance. I assume however you already know this. The reason Aper acted was to correct this balance.” he said pausing to give the man time to think.

The universe is always at Chaos, but he knew Bane was aware of how much damage Aper had caused in the long run of things. And he was fairly sure that why he would try to avoid that damage by reversing the imbalances and destroying the tower.

"You're of course referring to Maricul."

That woman always had a knack for showing up at just the right moment. As if her sworn duty was to manipulate everything behind the scenes and take credit when things went her way and then blame someone else when her meddling went south. Bane turned when Darius opened the portal and when it faded he returned to type on his computer.

"That would suggest the Creator meant for his design to be flawed and if the Arashi are meant to correct the imbalance..."

Bane stopped typing and faced Darius again, this time with his arms folded.

"Are you saying it is the Creator's desire that the imbalance exist?"

Darius saw that he was beginning to connect things. It was flawed. The reason of the day then became why? Why would the Creator leave things flawed as they were. It was an interesting matter to say the least, but it was a safe assumption, but merely reversing what had been caused would not do the trick. Restoring the natural balance would not be enough as it was so easily broken.

”What other reason would there be for providing a means to combat beings of his very will? What other reason is there that Miracle was able to use the same power Aper did on opposing sides.” he asked referring to both the shroud and the Ashrai. When one thought about it, it wasn’t that big of a gap to make in logic. There was however another point. ”Let us suppose however that the speculation is wrong. That The Creator does desire this balance.” he said as they would no longer be standing in the room as they were in a possible future. One in which Amoura vanished after the Ashrai appeared.

It was in ruins, but the why was yet unknown. ”Even should you succeed in dismissing the possibility of that. Let us say you still follow through with your plan. The Ashrai have no choice, but to correct the imbalance. It means that barriers between dimensions and worlds would stay weak at best. We are standing in a possible future where you succeed in restoring everything to its proper state.” he said pausing to let Bane take everything in.

”However, in such a world it is only a matter of time before someone upsets this balance again. At that point however, you would have already succeeded in sending all the warriors gathered here, all the people who could possibly put an end to the Ashrai together back to their realms and respective worlds. And even a small pebble is enough to tip the scales of balance.” he said as he let the illusion vanish. Now why would the creator want the imbalance might be his next question, but he was still a being after all. He had to know it would be impossible for him to find every last person that came to Genesis for some reason or another.

”Have you ever heard of the story of the Tower of Babble, Bane?” he asked. He didn’t know if the man had or not, but in this case it had anything to do with everything that they were talking about.

Bane looked down to the illusion cast by Darius, remaining silent during his explanation until the mentioned of the Tower of Babel, then he spoke.

"After the great flood, a united humanity speaking a single language came to the land of Shinar, where they resided and built a city and a tower whose top was meant to reach heaven. God came down to see what they have done and said, "Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do; and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do."

In truth a united humanity didn't sound too different from what Maricul was proposing with Utopia but since it was Maricul behind the planning you knew malice intent could be found somewhere. You just had to know where to look. If there was one thing to be taken from the story it was that God did not want a united earth or he would have never done what he did.

"But then God scattered them across the face of the earth and confound their language. Are you suggesting the Downward Spiral is similar in this regard?"

It seemed he indeed was familiar with the story which was just as well in the long run of things. It meant he didn’t have to draw out a picture every step of the way. But it was the principal of the story to which Darius was referring. Not just a united humanity, but also a story of people trying to achieve what had always meant to be above them. Trying to become like God.

Indeed there were already those that were trying to do the same as those people in the story had. As with all gatherings that stayed it was only a matter of time before someone tried to gain power from them. ”It is the same as it was then. I do not mean to imply that this is the meaning of the tower, but people saught power as a means to become more then what they were. To be something beyond what was intended for them.” he said.

And that was true for the most part, but what if it was planned. What would happen if they were intentionally brought together. ”The end result of that story as you put it was the nations were split. Barriers were formed, but it also had another effect in the context of the story an unintentional one. Or perhaps not so much by the one that caused it. It caused a silent fear. A fear of the being higher than one self. If this is the case it is very possible he wishes to use this imbalance to smite the gatherings of those that wise to seek to be become God like and remind everyone from where they originated.” he said.

Now weither such a thing would involve some form of violence or not was unsure, but he doubted the Creator would simply accomplish this by asking. The Creator was a hard person to read, but the next question then would be how to stop such an action. At least for Darius it was. He wasn’t sure if Bane would decided to stand against such a will, but that step was much easier said then done.

"If what you say is true then destroying the tower is out of the question."

Bane turned to face Darius.

"It must be preserved to ensure it's there to repair any damage that's done to the barriers."

When all else failed in a crisis you searched for the middle-ground. The compromise. It was how civilization has survived for as long as it has and if all of existence wanted to be allowed to continue then once again a compromise had to be reached. He would still seek out Tajna Rasha to learn more. If his intelligence on the demon is correct it'd be a short conversation on his part as Tajna Rasha would already know what he was there for.

"Regulate the tower."

Bane started to head for the exit of his hideout before stopping to address Darius once more.

"I don't suppose you'd know where to find Tajna Rasha?"

It was the demon he needed to speak with before proceeding regardless of what his plans were. But one thing was for certain.

Amoura's failure was no longer an option.

Darius didn’t say anything, but the end result had been what he wanted. That Bane would give up on destroying the tower. Honestly he cared not for what the Creator had planned, nor did he have any real proof of what The Creator planned to do. It was merely speculation, but it was something that should be noted at the very least. What he cared about was it was drawing people here. It was beginning to attract people from all worlds and there was one among them that he needed to find, had to find.

”Everything I’ve said here is speculation at best. However it isn’t to large of a gap in logic to make.” he was sure Bane was aware of this, but Darius didn’t want to leave him under the impression that he was trying to deceive him. At his question he paused. Tajna was a difficult person to be found when he didn’t want people to find him. ”If you’re looking for him the Downward Spiral would be a good place to begin. Although for someone without extra help it may be impossible for you to find him if he doesn’t wish to be found.” he said. It wasn’t an insult, merely a statement. Something Bane would know from personal experience anyway. He gave Bane another small nod and then vanished. There was still work to do.
