Alright, so first off, I'm going to make a few things clear. For those of you that don't know me, or don't know me that well, I've recently returned to the RP scene from a hiatus in the United States Air Force. I am a patriot to my country by any definition. However, I am willing to call out my own government when they are doing something stupid or just plan wrong. I want no arguments here, I don't care what kind of barbs you want to throw at me, I've heard it all. Yes I fought for this government, and if you stop to think about it for a moment instead of jumping immediately to insults, more than likely I fought for you too. No, I'm not ashamed of my actions and would do it again. No this does not mean I support their every action. That's the basics covered I believe. This story is about my old manager and friend Jesse, who I worked with over the course of a year and was one of the best friends I've ever made, and one of the coolest people I've ever met. I wanted to get people's opinion on this story, to see if I'm the only one that feels this is wrong. mobile.oregonlive.com/advorg/db_/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=PQannekT&full=true#display

The first thing I took from that was how much of a bitch the cousin is for stealing those kids away. But the whole situation is stupid. Its obvious that the kids think of him as a father.

I'm not surprised that it's already looking to be vetoed, but it's the fact that our Senate voted with an overwhelming majority to pass it that really concerns me. The bills is mostly targeted towards the acquisition of new military equipment, satellites for the Air Force, fighter planes, new construction funds, etc. It does slip in those sections basically repealing our Bill of Rights however, and I mostly believe that it's in order to combat terrorism on American soil, so they can't hop a plan or boat over, or sneak in from Canada (Cause no one is watching the Canadian border for some reason), and say "Hey, We're on American soil! We've got Miranda rights now, and you can't torture us!"
However, that makes it all too easy for corruption to spread through local and military law enforcement, and then it's just a stones throw for people being rounded up because a cop or soldier was paid off, or because jaywalking makes you a terrorist. If this bill passes, I'm flipping a coin. Heads I move north, tails I move south. I'll take my chances with a moose or drug cartel over American firepower and paranoia any day.

The NDAA has been signed into law.I'm disappointed President Obama didn't go through with vetoing this bill even with the amendment that's supposed to protect US citizens and the President having say over who stays in military custody. Just the very idea that we would detain anyone without trial for an indefinite amount of time doesn't sit well with me and already I can see some racial profiling going on and then BANG! Held indefinitely. Edit: No idea why it spaces the E in The.

First off, Linx, I'd like to thank you for your service.
Secondly I just want to say IMO our problem in the government right now is we have all these Liberals in office spending us in a hole with money we don't have to begin with, and then we have these Conservatives in the GOP that wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire out of spite because their guy lost in 2008. And as a result of all that shit we're not getting anything done.
The economy is still in shambles, we're not creating any new jobs, we're spending I don't know how much $$$$$$$ on a war in the Middle East that's never going to be resolved, pulling out of a country that Bush pretty much made us responsible for because we went in there and wreck their shit up for eight straight years under false pretenses, to get a guy that should have been taken care of 20 years ago and we're paying over 100,000 dollars to all these fucking politicians that should be going to other things, so if you want to cut expenses there's the first place to start.
And that's my opinion. Agree, disagree, that's your right and I respect that.

I don't know which part of the table you're sitting on but the Democrats have been trying to help the country but it's the Republicans that keep blocking them at every opportunity for the reason you just mentioned, they're mad that their guy loss in 2008. You can't blame Obama or the Democrats for that.

The Liberals aren't the ones who spent us into a hole. It was the Bush Administration + a pointless war in Iraq that spent us into a hole.

You're right. Liberals weren't the one who spent us into the hole to begin with, what they're doing is they're digging us into an even bigger hole and this time we don't have the money. Obama has already broken the national debt ceiling and now he wants to raise it even further. This is what I'm referring to. I don't expect this problem to be fixed in the near-near future like a lot of people are but I at least expect the elected officials to pitch an idea that could work. So far all I see are people screaming, hollering, throwing their juice down on the floor like a bunch of babies not getting anything done because they're looking out for their interest first and not the American people, spending all this money and bailing out companies that are close to going under without any new jobs to show for it, and whenever we do get something along that can help it takes forever to get through because of my first point about the people in charge of passing these laws fighting like a bunch of spoiled little brats. The process of proposing a bill, writing it up, getting it through the House, then the Senate, then Congress, then finally to the President to sign, if he signs it, is a long enough process as it is. It doesn't need all this extra political bullshit to go along with it and that's exactly my point.

Right. And a large portion of that is because of the Republicans saying no to everything the Democrats try to put forward. You can have the best idea in the world which has been proven to work and the Republicans would still say no because it's a Democrat that came up with the idea. That's all they care about.

I agree with Sarah as far as the Liberals and Conservatives sharing the blame is concerned, which is why I'm looking at Third Party Candidates. I think at this point the only thing that's going to make the Republican and Democrat party change their ways is if the majority of Americans endorse a Third Party Candidate for the upcoming Election. If that doesn't kick them in the bud I don't know what else will aside from a nationwide boycott. Which I can't see happening.
