Personality: Mariya has witness death for countless millenias and her personality reflects this. She is often cold, hardened and alienated to the rest of the world. To other angels. Those who she interacts with can feel how tired she is with how she speaks, in the ways she act, they however do not know that what Mariya is tired of is all the death and destruction she is forced to witness. All the weeping souls she has to bring to the other side to be judged. How could they know? How could they possibly understand what it's like?
Special Abilities: As the Angel of Death Mariya main job is guiding souls across the river of death where their fate are left to the hands of their maker. This works by touching the victim when their time is finally up so fate is able to act, the actual time of death can be anything from a couple of minutes to several hours. Mariya always return just in time to witness the actual death and guide the soul from there. As an angel she is virtually invulnerable and indestructible, if someone or something does find a way to destroy her current form Death always find a way to come back to continue its duty until the end of all things.
Like most angels she is fully capable of combat hand to hand and with most melee weapons she can get her hands on and in flight. Challenging an angel to a battle while airborne could very well be the last thing you do as it is second nature to them all. Her wings are sharp enough to cut through flesh like knife through butter making it a deadly weapon on top of giving her the ability to fly. Mariya is unable to interfere with the human world and cannot engage anyone in a battle unless physically provoked or commanded to do so by her god.

History: Since the fall of man when sin entered the world Death existed in one form or another. It gave birth to a beautiful angel when Cain killed his brother Abel and guide the soul of Abel to the heavens where he would await to be allowed into God's kingdom and from that moment on, Death wandered between this life and the next reaping the souls of the living in the form of an angel. An angel that would live a cursed existence for they will always be a witness to death.
She was forced to slaughter every first-born child in Egypt at the command of her god, watch the total destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and stand witness to war after war after war. Mariya knew early on in her existence that if it was not for the fall of man she would not be here, that in a way she was never intended to exist in the original design but became a necessity. Even to her fellow angels Mariya very existence is frowned upon, serving as a reminder that she was not meant to be here.
With Genesis preparing for war and the death rate gradually increasing everyday Mariya wanders back and forth between the world of Genesis lying in wait for the next soul she's to guide to the other side, wondering when her duties will finally come to an end.
